Horrible dining experience. I usually do carry out here. But this time my husband and I decided to dine in. I don’t eat meat and Wasabi has always had a few veggie friendly options. I love their ginger dressing. Their vegetarian sushi is ok, but very limited. We started our meal with the veggie tempura. As we placed our order I informed my server that I don’t eat animals. I asked if I could have a larger version of their garden salad. I was surprised they didn’t already have a larger salad with this wonderful dressing. I suggested them adding some more veggies or tofu on it since they have several meals with tofu on their menu. I was informed that she would have to check with the manager since it would be more money. I actually laughed because I would assume as much when their house salad was only $ 2.99 and I wanted a meal. 15 minutes later we see our waitress and she informs me they can’t make me a salad. I was stunned. How hard could it be to throw a few veggies on some lettuce. The place only had 5 other tables at the time. I wasn’t given any explanation or any other options for lunch. Shortly after our tempura arrived; but we still had no plates to eat on. Finally as we dug in I noticeld that the dipping sauce tasted like warm beef broth. I promptly stopped eating it. When I asked my server what the dipping sauce was; she tells me she did not know and that she just brings what they tell her to bring to the table. All I wanted was to sit down to a nice meal. Instead I’m offered a server who is ignorant or thoughtless to a person’s diet. Thank goodness i didnt have an allergy or id be in the hospital! We were an inconvenience, not a customer to this restaurant. I was ready to pay for my meat free garden salad but I won’t dine again at this establishment. My husband who did his best to make this a pleasant meal and try communicating with our server was stone walled with the silent treatment. If you dine here be prepared for a conveyer belt experience. Customer experience is not a concern.

Soy sauce heavy but very tasty stir fry. I don’t eat seafood, and still found quite a few options when my friends get a sushi craving.

Very pleasant surprise. Stopped on a whim on our way from Chicago home to Colorado on a Monday night. We had the chiefs choice. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Worried about eating sushi in a landlocked state? Visit Wasabi Bistro and worry no more. I have been eating regularly at Wasabi Bistro for years and have yet to have a bad experience. I have even been lucky enough to be present while the sushi chef was breaking down a whole tuna that had just been delivered. Yum! The owners have hit upon a winning combination for central Nebraska: firm, fresh sushi & sashimi, traditional rolls, specialty rolls, what I call«Nebraska Sushi»(rolls with cooked beef/chicken, tempura, cream cheese, bacon); and a full menu of Chinese favorites: sweet-n-sour pork, teriyaki chicken, mei fun, stir fry, lo mein, etc. This allows for sushi eaters to bring friends/family & everyone can find something they like. I like to have some cold, dry sake and the sashimi sampler appetizer to start. The bomb-bombs, sun-kissed tuna, yellowtail jalapeño, and tuna tataki are all a great way to begin your meal. They offer edamame three ways, but we always get it plain because our kids are not adventurous, and they like it without added seasoning. Check out the specials on the board as you come in, the sushi chefs are encouraged to invent new rolls and have frequently come up with amazing combinations. I love the spicy scallop hand roll, the dynamite roll, spicy tuna, and the four seasons roll, but my favorite is called an Ocean Dragon. It isn’t on the menu, but was a special a few months ago, and the chefs still make it when requested. I think the only time I have been(a little) disappointed was when I accidentally ordered a roll with cooked ingredients instead of raw — totally my fault for not reading carefully. The service has always been fast and friendly, whether we are eating in or carrying out. If you can arrive in time for the lunch specials, they are an amazing deal. The dinner prices are average for this type of cuisine: about $ 6 – 8 for a small roll, $ 12 – 15 for a big one. They have a full bar, Ramune marble sodas for the kids, bento box, yummy desserts, a kids menu, and vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Who could ask for more? A final note: I saw a few of the reviews noted the funky taste of the water and fountain sodas. The owners had their entire fountain system replaced a few months ago, and that funkiness has gone.(I never order a fountain drink, but had the water before it was fixed, and it was indeed nasty-tasting. All better now.) You should go. Bring friends.

All 5 in our party had chicken dishes and the chicken was a little chewy. Other than that the flavors were great.

Surprised and pleased to find such an outstanding sushi restaurant in Nebraska! Very fresh, very well prepared. Much better than many high-end sushi places I experienced in 19 years living near San Francisco and Seattle. Domo!

A friend and I were in GI for the Nebraska Junk Jaunt. We were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Wasabi Bistro! This was the best sushi I had had in years!!! Fantastic atmosphere(spotless too) and the best server ever! I can’t recommend this place enough and will be sure to visit next time I’m in the area.

We went here on my daughter’s birthday, based strictly on Unilocal reviews, the food and service were very good for the price, my only reason I did not give a higher rate was when ordering my family for a beverage to drink I decided on water or was the swampiest water I have ever tasted had 2 sips, afraid to drink more in fear that I might get sick, I am used to them automatically bringing miso soup, it was an additional charge, not worth ordering, salty swamp water too.

Love this place! The sushi is fresh as is all the food. The atmosphere is very nice. The help is personable and friendly. This is one of my favorite Japanese style restaurants. I highly recommend visiting this establishment!

I had two rolls — Phoenix Tail and Texas. Both were delicious — I think after talking with the chef if I had asked for the beef to not be seared, he would have made it with the beef raw, which I think would make it even better. I took off one star because the bowl that my salad was served in was not exactly clean(it looked clean but streaked with residue from the dishwasher, which was just unappetizing) it didn’t stop me from eating the salad of course which was tasty — I have, after all, followed the 2 second rule when I’m backpacking in the woods with added seconds and I’m still alive. Needless to say in not exactly a germaphobe, but that might have bothered other diners more. All in all, best place I’ve eaten at in Grand Island so far.

Awesome sushi! Very tasty and tasted fresh. Drinks were good as well. We also ordered the Hunan beef and Kung pao chicken. Delicious! Although I wish they made it spicier but they have to keep in mind the people of the midwest who generally can’t handle spicy food lol.

Best Japanese place ever! Love the food, service everything! For everyone reading this review please try the Nebraska Roll. No raw seafood which some people will like but boy is it delicious! I come here pretty often and the staff is always polite and speedy :). Price is spot on for a place like this :) HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

My first time to Grand Island and for some reason was in the mood for sushi. Often not a good choice in the midwest. But the Unilocal reviews were good and so I decided to give it a try. I was there early. One disappointment is that they do not have any happy hour specials for early diners. That said, service was great. Lisa helped me and was very pleasant and attentive. Nice atmosphere too. Wasabi delivered on the food. I only had two rolls, but selected those with lots of fresh fish. Tried a spicy tuna naruto first and liked the thin sliced cucumber, I had them leave the«crab stick» out as i am not a fan. I also tried the Samuri roll. I was disappointed when it came and all the fish was cooked on the inside unlike the photo on the menu. Lisa let me swap it out for another roll with no hassle. The rainbow roll I had instead was a solid basic rainbow roll. Loved the atmosphere, great service and good sushi!

Great place to dine. Hands down would eat here again next time I visit grand island. I has the sashimi sampler and edamame. They were both excellent choices. The staff was more than helpful and the menu choices were abundant for a Japanese reassurance in mid Nebraska. If you have time to stop and dine it would not be wasted on this place. Prices were average for this fare.

Wasabi was a surprising find for me. Their rolls are put together very well and there is a great menu to choose from. The sashimi salad was pleasant and there were hearty servings in it. Go hungry and order your favorites… That’s what I did the first time. The second trip I ventured out a little more and tried some of their specialties. Pretty darn good for landlocked sushi!

Great service. Quick, friendly, and efficient. Salmon mango roll was super yummy. Dynamite roll wasn’t as spicy and saucy as I would have liked… But the sashimi is delicious here. Huge pieces! Got the deluxe combo and the yellowtail, super white tuna, salmon, tuna, and eel were all fresh.

Really enjoyed this place. The sunflower roll was unique and delicious. The lunch special was 2 rolls for 6.95 or 3 rolls for 9.95, included miso soup but could upgrade to seaweed salad for a small fee. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, lots of hot green tea.
