Had the smoked turkey sandwich it was pretty good. I feel as if it was a little pricey for what you get. My first time here and I got here right before lunch rush on a Monday. My one sandwich took about 20 min to get to me. So service is a little slow and it’s a little pricey for a sandwich. Maybe I’ll come back again and try something different. I like to support local businesses so hopefully I’ll get won over with another menu item.

I would love to show you the excellent turkey sandwich I ordered for lunch here today, but… I already ate it. Sorry not sorry. The bread was perfect, soft & fresh rye. Very generous portion of turkey. Chips and drink and it all came out to $ 10 for this filling lunch. Varied menu with salads, sandwiches, soups and now they are serving breakfast as well. Quiche, breakfast burritos, muffins, yogurt, gourmet coffee and more. The establishment is clean and neat, the staff is friendly and efficient. Business is brisk — its obviously a popular lunch destination. Parking is a bit limited. Outdoor seating for when the weather is amenable. I am a fan(obviously) and will be a repeat customer. Love it here, you will too!

So, I think A-OK covers it. We were there prior, I thought, to the lunch rush — about 11:15. No one was in front of us in line, but the cashier was on the phone taking a long to-go order. We did get to order and saw the kitchen working away on a previously called in order(turned out to be over 20 sandwiches). So, our 2 sandwiches took a lot longer than you might have expected for having no one in front of you. And, the kitchen started answering the phones for more to go orders. So, service wise, they need to have more people working. After our order was in, the line became very long. So — to the important stuff — the food. We ordered a Little Italy and the Grilled Turkey, Bacon and Muenster. Both were good — only marred by less than great bread. And, bread is a very important part of the sandwich. Wish everyone would realize that and use quality bread. And in GJ, we have excellent bakery bread available! The Little Italy was really packed with good deli meat(though it was all pre-cut meat which is not very deli-like). The grilled turkey was also generous with the turkey and Munster, less so with the bacon. It was slathered with too much honey mustard for me — but my husband liked it. We ate the sandwiches and peeled off most of the bread — just wasn’t worth it. So — I would say that the food was pretty much OK. The wait can be long(when we left, the line hadn’t moved much). If you are looking for a deli-esque sandwhich and you are not in a hurry, this isn’t a bad option.

Excellent sandwiches and food in a place you’d never suspect. If you’re nearby and looking for great food and nice service, go here. It feels like you’re in SF or NYC and the owner is super nice and cool.

Very good freshly made food. I love the bread and the cupcakes too! It was a good idea for the new owners to use the same vendors and menus that have been tried and true for so many faithful patrons. Lunch is busy because it is quality worth coming back to!

So good we are going a second time as we drive through Grand Junction. The portions are worth the money, which I don’t think is overly priced for Boars Head. The little restaurant is clean, has great customer service, and serves your order in a timely manner. My husband had the Italian sandwich and really enjoyed it(he’s particular with his Italians). I got the roasted turkey and the bread made the sandwich even better. My daughter loved her BLT and the chicken noodle soup was seasoned well and hearty. This restaurant earned all 5 stars.

I used to come here for lunch a few times a week. Now I’ve been here only a few times with the new ownership. They have plenty of employees, but long wait because they have the one cashier taking orders, getting counter food together, and running the register. Food still good. But it will take a full hour if your coming in for lunch.

My husband and I have been regulars here for several years — and I’m sorry to say they’re almost certainly under new ownership. No one looked familiar(the owner and his crew were ALWAYS there before), the interior has changed, and most importantly, the food is not nearly as good. My chicken salad sandwich was mediocre; the old, great, flavorful chicken-salad recipe is gone, and so is the super-thick, fresh rye bread(replaced by thin, slightly dry rye). The price of my Dad’s Reuben sandwich was the same, yet it was half its normal size. So disappointing! I just read JN’s report from 9⁄11 — completely agree.

Great sandwiches(Boars Head meat and cheese!) soups, salads and sides. The cookies are also great. Packed at lunch so call ahead and they will have it ready!

The deli recently changed hands, and while the menu is basically the same, the bread vendor most definitely is NOT the same, and for me, that’s 75% of the sandwich. Too bad, this was a weekly favorite for lunch.

I come back over and over because the food is outstanding. The only downside is the wait can be a bit if you come at lunch rush and the owner can be a bit abrasive. But, the employees are always awesome, helpful and the food is the best sandwich in town. I recommend the Sante Fe Turkey for a unique bite. Or, the cider brisket for a more traditional tingle on the taste buds. Expect a little pricy but know it’s worth it. Every. Bite.

It’s a tad pricey for what you get but it’s quality food. Get there early or you’ll be waiting. Seating is sparse as well. The have Zoltar :) All an all good lunch spot for a sandwich and a salad. Every thing is made to order to be prepared to wait.

Always solid. Use them for catering and eat here when I travel to GJ. Price is great for that you get… I would much rather spend $ 7 on a great sandwich vs $ 5 on a chain sandwich with plastic meat. As a native New Yorker this deli is a great choice!

This is the only real deli type place in Grand Junction that I know about, and it is good. I always get the chicken salad sandwich. The food is always sooo fresh and looks great. The prices are a little high but you pay for what you get. Also a big perk for me is they sell YooHoo!

Decent sandwich shop. Kind of pricey for what you get, but still pretty good. They use Boars Head meat, which is typically a good sign, and their proportions are full. The B.L.A.T. I got from them was rather tasty. I asked for it w/o mayo, and it just tasted crisp and fresh with great fluffy bread. But, the last sandwich I got from them was drenched in mustard. It might have been a new girl working, or someone who thinks mustard =‘s life blood, as it just doesn’t make sense to soak each side of bread(through to the other side), with mustard. It was literally suspended in it. Turkey and Muenster, frozen in mustard’s pungent time/space continuum. They have several sandwiches to choose from, but aren’t apposed to change them to what you want. I have a feeling it was just ‘one of those days’ for my mustard situation, and I hear pretty consistent stories from folks who eat there almost daily. Place is only open for lunch and is typically filled with working professionals. It makes for kind of a nice dining ambiance, taking business with pleasure in your deli dish.
