You’re better spending your money at any other Mexican restaurant in grand junction. The service was fine but being a so cal native and going to college in Texas I feel that I can say this is some of the poorest«Mexican» food I have EVER had. The salsa is flavorless… tomato with onions and a few mild chilis. I got the creamy jalapeño shrimp tacos. The shrimp were cooked well but creamy jalapeño sauce was nothing more than butter. The best portion of the meal was the cilantro lime rice. First time I’ve ever preferred the rice over the main portion of the dish at a Mexican restaurant. I hope you take this review as a warning and STAYAWAY. Go to el tapatio or tequilas. It’s Mexican food from a can but it tastes much better.

The carnitas were unique– deep fried pork cubes in old grease. Side of rancid pineapple salsa. If I had not been with a group(that for unknown reasons picked this place) I would have taken the advice of other Unilocal reviews«Run Forest, Run». Forget these run down /food service rip offs and try Café Sole just a few blocks away.

Bad. Just really bad. I honestly don’t know of anyone who would choose to go here with such higher quality choices such as El Tapatio or Aztecas. So I have to assume the majority of their business is from tourists who don’t know any better. Don’t waste your time or money here. You will surely walk out disappointed and with a greasy feeling in your stomach.

If you’re looking for good/authentic Mexican food, this is absolutely not the place to go. We had been on an extremely long road trip through the Midwest, and were craving some decent Mexican food after days of bad American diner food. We saw some previous reviews of this place that were mixed, but decided to give it a chance. LISTENTOTHEREVIEWS. The food here is really awful. The beans were obviously frozen, some of them still were on the plate. The cheese enchiladas came without cheese, and the chili bowl was just a plate of mealy white beans. Most of the food was either bland, sour, or burnt. It also wasn’t a very clean place, couple of big dead beetles in the bathrooms. Do yourself a favor and keep driving somewhere else. If you like real Mexican food, this place will leave you feeling very sad.

Run away, fast! After driving to the Grand Junction area wanted a quick meal at about 8pm. Was seated in the bar with enough sports broadcasting to overload a mind suffering with white line fever. The dining area was closed although the staff was using it for eating their meals. I really believe that paying customers should have the preference vs. being required to be seated in a bar area. I wasn’t drinking after all. We had the Grilled Cx Taco and Blue Ench Dinner. For the money there are so many better restaurants in Grand Junction and Fuita so move on to one of those.

Tastes like almost everything comes out of boxes and plastic packages from food service trucks like Sysco and US Food and whatnot. Then maybe the guys in the kitchen heat it up and throw some salt at it. Tortillas are bland and mealy, chips are bland, salsa is bland, rice is too salty and somehow still bland, beans are bland, meat is too salty, shrimp is bland and sad, just about everything except their green chili is bland. Drinks are too sweet; my wife and I had to order shots of tequila just to liven up our margaritas. The one dish that is excellent is the black bean quesadilla on the wheat tortilla.

Have to say i was really surprised to see the 2 ½ star rating it is why better then that. And the complaints about it not being tradition Mexican food that is not what they are going for just read the descriptions of the food you order add some common sense and you will find lots of good things on the menu. My only complaint is that the spiciness of their chili verde seems to fluctuate it has a great flavor to it but ask to taste a little each time you go. The people have all ways been very nice and while they are all was busy it never feels crowded.

Yummy queso and guac! We quickly downed those appetizers. I had the tequila lime shrimp for my entrée. Oh my goodness. These were sooo good! I need to find something like that over here in Florida!

I frequented Dos Hombres in my young adult life, and always eat here at least once on our annual trips to the area. It is certainly *not* authentic Mexican food, and I don’t believe they are trying to come across as that. The atmosphere and the staff have always been great, and the food is consistently decent Americanized Mexican. The margaritas are always good. I have to say that the main driver for me is their mild salsa. Yes, I can see why people call it bland and boring, but there is something about it that makes it delicious to me. I love fresh garden tomatoes, and this salsa just always tastes fresh and smooth to me. If it comes out of a can, so be it… I’ll still devour every last drop of it. The«hot» salsa is not all that hot, but a bit too much for folks who prefer«medium.» If that’s what you like, mix the two together. I also love that they keep the salsa coming, so that it can be applied to your main course.

Love the menu. Shrimp Tacos and Fish Tacos are great and follow my eating plan. The staff is always friendly as well. Consistently good food.

Bland, with a side of bland. Would you like some Bland with that? This is not Mexican Food. This is Americanized Mexican with little to no flavor, salty and not worth the money. There are far better choices in the valley. Plus the service is lacking and at times even weird.

Most unauthentic Mexican restaurant in town. Grand Junction has some great Mexican restaurants– a new one right across the street– Aztecas. Do NOT waste your time at Dos Hombres. Apparently, the owners have a couple other restaurants in GJ that are doing pretty well. Have they forgotten about this one? We live right down the road and had high hopes just to grab a few margaritas and an average dinner. It wasn’t even average. The drinks were okay. We ordered some queso and chips. You know the kind of nacho cheese you get at baseball game out of the can? Yup, same thing! Our dinners were boring and bland. We were excited when Aztecas moved in across the street.

I don’t think it’s as good as some reviews from friends, but it’s ok Mexican food. Service was pretty attentive, but I also went in midday on a Wednesday so it wasn’t too busy. Chicken in the burrito I ordered was the highlight of the whole experience.

Probably the worst place in Grand Junction for«Mexican» Food. It is realy Tex-Mex, and not a very good representation of that. The prices are far too high for the lack of quality, and then to top it off they have a practice of «Rounding» your bill to the nearest Nickle after the Tax is added. I have never had my Bill rounded down to the lower Nickle, it has always been Rounded up to the next Nickle. I looked and did not se a sign or notice anywhere on the Premises or Menu that notifies the Customer of this practice, so I am wondering if it is even legal to round up at all. They, along with The Main Street Café, and the Rockslide do this and they say it is common practice. I must say I have never had this occur anyplace outside of these Three at any time in my dining experience. Anyway, if you want EXCELENT and authentic Mexican food nearby, try Aztecas directly accross Broadway in the birght Orange Buildin, and you will experience what really good Mexican food can be.

Imagine if Denny’s had a Mexican section on the menu. Dos Hombres is a bit like that. It’s in that genre of Mexican Food for People Who Don’t Like Mexican Food, like Taco Bell, etc. The premises are well-maintained generally, and we have some friends who work there. They say the kitchen is clean. I wouldn’t doubt their word, but the food is so uninspired you’d think that the owners were also behind the menu at the Rockslide. And you’d be right.

I’ll keep it short. Reserved back room for birthday party. More people showed than expected. Asked for another table or two to be brought back. Told«no, we are over the seating capacity for the room». Sign on the wall says 35… Hmmmm, there are only 23 people in here. Asked again, and again told«no, we are not allowed to take more tables in there than there already are». Really? OK, then take my order back because I’m not eating from my lap. «Oh, I guess we could bring another small table back». Are you serious with this. Never another dollar from me. Bummer, because it looks like a nice place. Just need to fire the manager and get someone that realizes customer service is important. This guy… no

We feared it might not be great when our waitress brought a half empty basket of cold tortilla chips and some sloppy salsa. Daughter’s quesadilla was swimming in grease. My wife’s fish tacos and my «Monumen“t burrito were both kinda«meh». Tried deep fried ice cream for dessert. Not sure how you make that anything but awesome but they managed. We tried two different kinds of Margs and both were expensive but rather unremarkable. Would not bother to return… looks like GJ has other, better Mex restaurants to try…

It’s not as if the food here is awful, it isn’t. It is just. well. boring. It is like a chain restaurant catering to the median(read: bland) palate. I ordered a combination plate with taco and enchiladas. the taco was like something you would get at Taco Bell, though I will admit that Taco bell has a bit more flavor. The enchiladas(a beef and a cheese) were large but nothing special. The sauce, it reminded me a bit of Tex-Mex chili gravy, but not as flavorful. My friend ordered the fajita chimi. which was about the same on the boring scale. I think the main complaint I have is that Dos Hombres serves up the pretty typical boring American interpretation of Mexican food. You will get a large meal here that won’t offend anyone’s taste — but it won’t dazzle anyone either. Service was great, so added star for that.
