I took their «Open water SCUBA» course in October 2014. The classroom portion was informative and well paced. Donna was helpful and patient when it came to pool portion of the course. The class as a whole was a blast while still providing you with needed information.
I’ve happily applied everything I’ve learned to dive in Maui.
Joe is very accommodating and helpful if you’re looking into purchasing needed equipment.
Highly recommend if you’re looking to get certified!

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with this establishment. When a business like this is supposed to work with the public, there is no room for abrasive, bully attitudes. Some people learn quicker than others, especially when it comes to learning something so foreign, breathing under water… I was under the impression they were the only ones in western Colorado who did this, they are not, you have choices. When certain equipment did not do well for me, I looked elsewhere and found some great help. When I went for my open dive certification (over 650 miles both ways), I was treated less than human when they saw I went elsewhere to get my equipment. As it turned out, because Ms. Donna (Joe’s wife) didn’t appreciate me not buying from their shop, made a huge stink and I felt I could not go through with them for the weekend dive… a dive that should have been nothing but fun. I won’t get into he said she said, just know it was hurtful and unnecessary… very childish. I just wanted to get through my certification and move on, but Donna made sure to call me out on everything in front of the rest of the class. Very embarrassing and unprofessional. I have rescheduled my open dive with a true professional, and looking forward to having some fun. I also might add I paid good money for the classes, so they were certainly compensated for their time with the classes. Shouldn’t be about «what are you going to buy from me», they are supposed to be instructors, not just sales people. Look elsewhere!

These guys get 5 stars in my book. My husband and I took a course with our local college and Donna was the instructor. She was very knowledgeable, patient and fun! Taking the course at the college was part one. Our original plan was to finish our open water cert overseas. We loved Donna as an instructor and felt it would be perfect to finish the course with her. Part two of the course is held at the Homestead Crater in Utah. It made for a great weekend and a ton of fun! Joe, Donna’s husband, runs the shop in Grand Junction. He was always very nice to deal with and made sure we were all set as new divers. These guys do a great job and we will seriously consider taking a dive trip with them in the future!
