We were Passing through on the way to Arizona… Sarah and the heavy set guy w a long beard(Sam maybe?) are both really cool bartenders and friendly people but they also bust ass and make sure customers are taken care of… very welcoming and attentive. My experiences w other employees and especially the bouncer were very unwelcoming… my wife and I are very professional and straightedge looking so idk if he weren’t «hipster» or tattooed enough for them but they were dismissive and kind of rude. The big bouncer checked my ID, I came out and smoked hour later, he didn’t remember me which is fine but he was a total dick abt it and so I was a little salty back at him, he let me back in and went full on douchebag on me two hours later, holding me up again to try and prove a point or whatever, he took his time and scoured the front and back of the ID like it was a homicide investigation then gave me a rude thumb gesture over his shoulder w o saying anything like«all right get the fuck in there then». This was months ago so hopefully they fired that dipshit but we’ll find out next weekend when we return to Pennsylvania. Or maybe I dont wish that, in a way I feel sorry for how obese he is, I doubt he can work anywhere else w his shitty attitude and immobility anyway, Hope the cool bartenders are still there, they were very engaging and a lot of fun.

This place reminded me of a place back home. Sid, the bartender, was really welcoming and friendly. I wasn’t interested in an alcoholic beverage, and upon my request for«the biggest club soda possible», he gave me a huge mason jar of my favorite beverage. Much appreciated! My husband said the margarita was delicious. Super chill vibe, excellent food.

Hipster oasis in an otherwise sleepy town. So glad I found it. The sausage sammy changed my religion. Get a side of the beans. Strangely good.

First, let me say that this happened a little while ago, but after seeing all these good reviews I feel compelled to share my less than stellar experience. Before I came here I heard from people around town that this is the place the«cool» crowd goes. And they said that with a tone of warning. I learned why! «Cool» actually mean pseudo-intellectual burn outs and pseudo-hipsters. Which is okay, hell maybe on the classier end of the GJ bar scene even. What isn’t okay was how my bf and I were ignored by the staff. I seemed like there was a majority«regular» crowd that night, and they were getting served just fine by welcoming bartenders and a courteous bouncer. After being chastised by the bouncer for being — and, really — too ~cuddly~ — with my bf(no petting, no moaning or grunting, we were seriously just cuddling on some bench type thingy because the room was sooooo cold that night) we decided to split. Also, I’d like to note that it was only I who was chastised! Verbatim: «Ma’am don’t be doing that.» It’s also worth mentioning that the place felt really cramped; from what I understand there’s more floor space in another room that they decided to close up that night despite there being somewhat of a crowd. And from the outside it didn’t even look open. Maybe we were there on the wrong night, but I don’t really have much desire to come back and see if it’s as great as the other reviews would lead me to think. Two stars because at least I didn’t feel like I was going to be stabbed or something, and it seemed fairly clean.

This bar is a little slice of heaven featuring friendly and capable bartenders, inexpensive drinks, accommodating hours, and it hosts a wide range of musical acts from around the grand valley and beyond. Patrons are the usual boring set of pseudo-intellectual hipsters and drunkards, but ignore them, bring your friends, and enjoy a Sabrosa Chai while rocking!

My favorite hipster dive bar of the area. High-wasted shorts and boggin’s abound. It is low-key and not always able to tell whether it’s open, but go in! You’ll like it! This has a younger crowd and cool music. It’s small, which can make it feel pretty cozy. I immediately loved the atmosphere as soon as I walked in. This place feels like some of my favorite dive bars back in Atlanta. They have a full bar, haven’t met a bar-tender I don’t like. They have karaōke on Thursdays and usually live music on weekends. It can be pretty loud with music playing. No TV’s here, which is something I love.

I went to Sabrosa the other night and had the best martini ever! Amanda(blonde), who is super cool, but also bad ass martini maker! I’ll be back.

Finally got to Sabrosa last night. Aside from my jacket being stolen, it was a surprisingly friendly, hole-in-the-wall place. You could easily walk by the door and not see it, or assume you’d have to fight your way out if you did go in, but the place was great! The bartenders were friendly, the crowd had a nice eclectic mix of people who were friendly, and even the drunks were harmless. As one of my friends described it, it’s slightly whacky like Q Bar(Quincy), without the fear of being stabbed. If you’re looking for a come-as-you-are, no frills, social bar, this is your place. Just keep your jacket with you.

I almost didn’t go in, because the door was locked and all the signs, even that important one, «open» were turned off. As I was walking away, I noticed another door, and it was unlocked. Hooray! It was about 5:15 and my friend and I were the sole patrons. I had to show the bartender,(he’s really the maintenance man) the website to prove to him happy hour started at 5, not 7. Nice enough spot, but we were both hungry and there’s no food yet so we booked on down to the moon. It was wine night and they had three wines to choose from. I wish them luck.

LOVE, love, love, LOVELOVELOVE Sabrosa. Opened pretty recently, only has a sign on the door, but DONOTBEDETERRED! This place is fabulous. The restaurant is scheduled to open soon, so right now it’s just the supper classy bar. With a mix of selected glasses, hand made gas barrel tables, and just a wonderful ambiance, this is going to be one of my new favorite hangouts in downtown! Carrie, the owner, has so much love and passion for her upcoming restaurant, and after being showed her menu, I cannot wait for that part to open! Truely authentic Costa Rican quisine will be a much welcomed addition to the GeeJ for me. Until then, super cheap prices for beer n booze, awesome staff, and just a general good ol time! Make sure to give it a go! Interested in catering? Carrie already has that section of her business up and running, so give her a call!
