Huge bar — it was pretty empty when we went but really big space. The actually bar is beautiful– nice wood and nice lights — great liquor selection including 18 year old Glen Fiddich and organic Samuel Smith cider. The French onion soup was authentic and fished in the traditional French style with large croutons and gratinated cheese — really superb. The owner was friendly and accommodating. The prices were a little high — 11 $ for a burger — we paid 4.99 in Kansas but hey we’re are not in Kansas anymore.

Drinks are over priced, much cheaper beer available in town, advertising on front window Menu 1 $ off during happy hour not so, only discount is daily special which if looking for variety during happy not so. So expect full price/over priced. Very dark inside. Patrons are friendly which is plus 3 times I have been bartender was uneducated about pours

Never disapointed, food is fresh and delicious. I have tried many items on the menu over the last year and am always tastefully delighted. Beer choice great as well.

Barons. Not a bad place, but you have to remember it is a dive. If you go into it thinking anything more you will be disappointed; I think the owner thinks it is more than a dive… I went in with the advice to try a certain sandwhich and well, the sandwhich was good(nothing mind altering or exceptional) when I received the ticket for said sandwich my mind was blown! $ 15 for a decent sand which served in a basket that I had to do all the work for?! No thank you, for $ 5 more I can get a meal and service worthy of $ 20.

Wow. After witnessing what I witnessed, I don’t understand how this place stays in business. The owner, with the patron in front of him, told the bouncer at the door, «I want that guy out of here, he’s too ugly to be here.» The patron was then told to leave. Really? Really? Wow. I won’t spend a single cent in this place and will advise those I know to avoid it as well. Appears the owner needs a reality check.

Says they are open til 2am, more like 10pm. Update ur website, or otherwise stay open until ur posted hours! I’m starving and was looking forward to food! Especially because everything closes by 9pm around here! And a tip, don’t answer the phone like I just called u at your apartment after you got done hitting the bong. You won’t be getting any of my money.

Barons is the best! Some coworkers told me I had to come here and try a sandwich and it probably took me about 20 minutes to decide on what to get… they have soooo many choices! My boyfriend and I eat here at least 3 times a week and I am always excited to try something new! My favorite is the pool hall sandwich and my boyfriend always gets the baron burger. The owners are amazing, as well as all of the other staff members. They have pool tables, shuffle board, live bands, happy hour and use only the freshest ingredients to make all of their food… what more could you ask for?! I’ll definitely be back!

I love this place. I have dreams about he Garden Party sand which… they have an amazing vegetarian menu and lots of specials for CMU students. really good quality food, they are committed to serving really great healthy ingredients which sets them apart from many other restaurants in town.

Barons is my favorite spot in GJ for sure! The food is absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is comfortable. There’s some great beers on tap delivered to you with awesome service. Get your self a Great Balls Burger if you want the heat or an Italian if your not to keen on the spice. Vegetarians will also feel right at home with a variety of items to choose from. On the weekends you expect an easy going friendly crowd with great music either on stage or over the house system at volumes that you can have a conversation over. That is unless Tight Thump is playing. Then you’ll be way to busy Dancing your booty off to talk!

First off, you need to pick which review topic you’re most interested in and go with that advice with respect to these Barons Unilocal reviews: do you care about mind-blowingly delicious sandwiches or are you looking for a rowdy bar/music venue? If you’re looking for the latter, you will, like the majority of the 1 – 2 star reviewers, be disappointed. But this place is off-the-charts when it comes to delicious, unique sandwiches! I actually did a whole Instagram collage dedicated to the Dippity Dah and called it an Ode to My Sandwich: rosemary potato bread with basil, fresh mozzarella, golden tomato,(added) cucumber, and avocado, with a side of balsamic reduction for pouring, flinging on with a fork, or just licking off your finger. YUM. Nice beer selection too: I had a 5 Barrel, hubs had a 90 Shilling, and they also had Dirty Hippie and some other honorable mentions. Side items are a little lackluster, but I was content with the bagged kettle chips: salt and vinegar for me, cheddar jalapeño for the man. I think you can add side salads too, but last I checked their«side salads» are just mixed greens… they have pretty fantastic dressings though — the side salads just aren’t super-filling/satisfying. But if you go for one of their cheesy, meaty sandwiches like my husband did(something with like sliced beef and melted cheddar served open-faced and I think there was horseradish and banana peppers in there somewhere), you won’t mind the«appetizer» bag of chips while you wait for your sandwich to be made-to-order in their open-air kitchen. They usually have good baked goods too, like cookies, muffins, and brownies, I think. And pretty good coffees too. I always picture this as an awesome happy hour place — they have pool tables and shuffleboard(and a decent happy hour special with tasty cold draft options, as stated earlier), but we just never make it here, except for dinner. It’s kind of an awkward dining area for lunch… and the stage area also seems like it might make for an awkward music venue(as the 1 – 2 star reviewers have noticed)…but their sandwiches make this a 5-star food and beer option for me. Can’t wait to try the burgers and lobster roll… if I could ever stop being so hung up on their seared ahi and fresh mozzarella offerings…

Was told to get the food here, so I came by at lunch around 12:20. Sign as you walk in says grab a menu and seat yourself. 8 minutes later still no server to take my order, not even a drink order. Might give then another chance, but might not. Not a good first impression.

Never in my life have I been treated so rudely. We walked in showing our ids and then the owner we will call him doucemcfuckenstuff comes up and kicks us out of thr bar for no reason. We had literally walked in the door. We had our ids, money, & etc? We hadnt even ordered a drink? This place is hideous from the owner to the horrible décor. Try to avoid this terrible place at all costs

Came in for live music and bar food based on a local’s recommendation. I found an extensive menu with great options. I had the blackened tuna salad. Off the charts. asked for just more tuna and they prepared it on avocado with cucumbers… fantastic A huge portion, just ask for it. Good live music to boot.

I thought the food was fresh, I was pretty content with it. Had three items and couldn’t even finish it. Came in to check and support the band. Really enjoy my time here. Definitely gonna come again!

I was really excited to see how this place upgraded the old Rocky Mountain Pub. And I’ve got to agree with a previous reviewer — it didn’t. Mismatched banquet chairs and tables, staff that — while friendly — needed to kind of get it together. I thought the vibe Barons was aiming for was restaurant/bar, but for all intents and purposes this place just felt like a bar, a kind of gloomy one. Kind of like, well, Rocky Mountain Pub. Horrible sound quality, beware if you go to see a band. I wouldn’t be totally against visiting again, but there’d have to be some pretty strong incentives for me to return.

This place opened up where the old Rocky Mountain Pub used to be. I saw some live bands here recently. Overall not horrible, but not great either. At the door I was charged $ 10 even though they advertised the cover as being $ 5. The beer prices were a little steep. They also left the door open all night and it got seriously drafty in there, about half the people were wearing coats or hoodies(this was in April when it was still getting down in the 30s at night). The kitchen closed before we got a chance to order any food so no food opinions in this review. I didn’t frequent the Rocky Mountain Pub much(that place was a dive in all the wrong ways) but I don’t see what is different between Barons and RMP. The walls are still red, the atmosphere is still dark and gloomy, the whole place looks dirty, and the sound quality coming from the stage was bad. Genuinely, I could not tell you the names of any bands I saw that night. They announced their names but all I could hear was«MMMFMMMFFFMFFF.» Bass was way too heavy, to the point that its pretty much all I could hear. I mean, there were guitars and singers on stage, and they were moving around and opening their mouths at the microphones, but I could barely hear them. And when the bands weren’t playing the house music was up obnoxiously high, I couldn’t even talk to the people next to me. To wrap this up: it really just felt like I was in the Rocky Mountain Pub again, except this time there was a cheesy green logo on printer paper plastered everywhere; maybe their hearts are in the right place, but the execution is poor. On the plus side, I never felt like I was going to be stabbed(a real possibility at the old Rocky Mountain Pub), so kudos to the security staff I guess? I like underdogs so I want to like these guys but this first visit was off-putting. I think I’ll visit again to try the food, but no more live music here for me.
