Blue Dog Tavern

The place looks just like a tavern should look and the food was really great. Good cocktails and fantastic beer selection. It was a bit noisy in there as it was crowded on Saturday night and there were lots of hard surfaces. The staff was awesome and attentive. The vibe from the patrons great — we made some new friends and saw some old ones. Our new go to spot.

I was treated like I wasn’t worth the time of day when I went there. How hard is it to bring me a F***ing beer, I left thirsty after 30 minutes of seeing everyone else being served.
I tried contacting this S***-hole of a business but no reply.

We had terrible service from the minute we set foot inside. It wasn’t very busy despite it being a Saturday. We were brought the waters that we asked for but that was it. My husband ordered a beer and after 20 minutes he still never got that. Another table got their second round of drinks and he STILL didn’t get his beer. Our server clearly didn’t want to be there and neither did we so we left. I suppose we’ll give it another shot but it won’t be for quite some time.

Tots were great. Beer was cold. Server was a nice guy & friendly. Burger was mediocre. Atmosphere was warm & inviting.

It’s like a neighborhood pub for everyone. We have been here about 6 times now and every time is consistent and good. The drinks and happy hour are incredibly cheap, and the food is consistently good.
My favorite menu item is the garlic Parmesan tots, and they go great on their own or as a side on a great sandwich or hot dog.
Best dog is the Ruffles– it is chili, onions, and crushed ruffle chips. Even if they say it’s not on the menu just ask to add Ruffles to a normal chili dog.
Burgers are very good as well as are the flat breads.
Overall just a very chill place to grab an affordable and non pretentious meal or drink.
There is a parking lot across the street.

First time here. Great food, great drinks, and great service, especially our bartender Eric. Will definitely be back. Get the pastrami melt!

The Blue Dog has become THE Go-​to joint for my friends and I. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere reminds me of the MTV «cribs» episode with the Ying Yang twins. It’s where the magic happens. Erik, the bartender, makes a mean whiskey drink. Imagine an Appalachian mountain on fire going down your throat but in a good way and smokey the bear isn’t there to put it out.

My wife and I live a few blocks down the street and were semi-​frequent visitors because of the location and the food.
Their food is great and their beer selection is always on point, but the service SUCKS. They have always been slow since we started going about 9 months ago but recently they’ve been getting worse
Our last visit will most likely be our last for two reasons
1. It may have been Friday night, but there were not a lot of people ordering/​eating when we were there around 8:30 and it took 25 minutes for us to get our order of two burgers. There was no apology or explanation of why it took so long.
2. After our waiter had gotten our drinks he did not come back to check on us until he brought our food over but did spend a majority of that time standing behind the bar talking and laughing with coworkers and customers at the bar.

Amazing. Simply Amazing. I ordered the Blue Dog with a side of Parmesan Tots. Both came out tasting fresh off the grill. The cheese sauce was great. The tots had a great crunchy exterior with fluffy inside. Can’t wait to go back.

Went there with great girlfriend to enjoy a burger & a beer. Food & beer were great. Having people stand next to our table waiting for us to hurry and finish eating not so good. They stated «the waiter told us to stand here so we could have your table next»

Great place! We picked this for lunch because it had good reviews and we were not disappointed. The loaded baked potato tots were amazing and the food was just as good. We had the Cajun burger and Ditka dog, yum! Very cool building as well!

I actually went to this place because the reviews were so outstanding and I was pretty disappointed. A group of 3 of us went in on a Saturday night. When we got there it wasn’t busy. We each got drinks and 2 of us got food — chicken tenders and the poutine tatter tots. We weren’t impressed by either, they both pretty much tasted like GFS fare. And I’m pretty sure the poutine tots didn’t even have cheese curds, it was just like hunks of cheddar?
That by itself wouldn’t warrant a lukewarm review to me, but the service was very lack luster. We were waited on right away when we first sat down. But, when the second person in our group ordered food the waitress practically threw it on to the table. The place wasn’t even close to full, especially for a Saturday night, but it took her a long time to get back to us. When she finally did she kind of aggressively asked if we were ready for the check. We were thinking of ordering another round but didn’t really feel welcome after that.
I love the Westside and really want to see it revitalized so I was pretty let down by our experience here. If either the service or the food had been great I’d be happy to visit again but as it stands I don’t see myself ever going back. Bummer.

Absolutely love this place! They had me at the tots menu and the poutine tots are by far my favorite! Their entry for the Grandwich contest (the Westside Polish Pastrami Burger) was AMAZING, by far THE BEST burger I’ve ever had in my life! I hope they keep it on the regular menu. We loved it so much we brought people there for three weeks in a row to try it. We had to take a little break for our waistlines sake but hope it’s there again when we go back :)

Great atmosphere. The traffic that comes in and out are friendly and seemingly having a good time with a better attitude when they leave. The drinks are reasonably priced and their menu is awesome. I walked in late and asked if their kitchen was closed. It was but the bartender said he’d keep the fryers open a little bit longer. I ordered the jalapeño popper tots and they were amazing. I happen to frequent this establishment now and enjoy it every time I barge in and stumble out.

Needed to satisfy a late-​night burger craving and, through Unilocal reviews, decided upon the Blue Dog tavern for. We were only going in for a burger but we got much much more! Local craft brews on tap, extremely efficient and friendly bartender who, while he was the only one working, made us feel welcome and on rushed. Honestly the burger was one of the best I’ve ever had! We ordered medium, we got medium! The recommendation for a blue cheese bacon burger or their house specialty burger were spot on and we got one of each! The char was absolutely perfect, the buns were fresh and not soggy and we added nothing to the burger than what came onit! Great atmosphere extremely caring staff and unmatched food not to mention craft beer! Do not miss this gem

Awesome food. Great service. I haven’t had a burger cooked so perfectly medium when asked how I want the burger done. The tots rocked we had buffalo and the bacon ones. Jambalaya was fantastic. Definitely will be back.

Ive been to the Blue Dog on several different occasions… The owners of this place have hit a grand slam! Awesome food, servers are outgoing and really enjoy their jobs. Their daily lunch specials are always great. I will continue to support… well done!

Food was so so not something I would race back there for but the service and atmosphere was fun and friendly. Would definitely go back for a local beer to sit, relax and have fun with friends.

Atmosphere! I can’t say enough about it. The darker, cozy vibe is phenom. The chalkboard listing the beer. The picture of an actual blue dog. The wooden bar and booths. I love it all!
Just a heads up, it is smaller and fills up fast. We were lucky someone was leaving as we walked in, otherwise we would have to stand or wait for a table.
Also, I ordered the poutine over fries. Tastes great! I just wish there were more cheese curds, it was primarily gravy and fries.

Great Beer choices, excellent environment, and wonderful food. We tried several plates of tot flavors and all were very good.
