Today was my first time visiting Gita Pita, and it was a wonderful experience. Not only was the food tasty,(4⁄5 stars) the service was amazing! I was with a group of six, and none of us had ever been. The staff immediately took the time to explain the menu and ordering process, and gave each of us a sample of their chicken shawarma and a falafel. As an group we had gyros, a falafel pita, falafel bowls, and a shawarma bowl. It was all delicious. I will definitely go back as soon as possible!

Very good food, friendly staff. Prices are a little high, but I usually get a bowl, eat half, and warm the second half up the next day. I would go here more if I didn’t have to deal with parking. There is a discount for students and medical workers that I certainly appreciate.

I am a big fan of Bucharest in Detroit and was been to have a shawarma place show up here that would satisfy my shawarma cravings. I had a chicken shawarma yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken tasted amazing and was mixed with onions, cucumber and tomato and cabbage(I think). The pita was interesting, it was thin and chewy which was not what I was expecting, but I think this made it easier to enjoy the shawarma fillings without feeling like you were getting a ton of bread with every mouthful. I will definitely be returning here to try the steak :)

We took a chance and speed in to Gita Pita. So happy we did! The food was outstanding, and my vegetarian spouse and I enjoyed our meal. The staff was very friendly and helpful with coating menu items. We will be back soon!

Here’s the thing, I’m not a lamb guy. Most of my experiences were an overspiced meat that failed to win over my taste buds. Not the case with Gita Pita! This gyro was truly a delight. Gita has found the perfect recipe for a gyro my way. The fries were tasty also and very attentive service. Find yourself in Grand Rapids? Find your way to Gita Pita

Wow! This is how Mediterranean food should be done! Gita Pita is so fresh, I don’t even know where to start. The pitas are made fresh right in front of you! So are the falafels! In addition, everything is seasoned and cooked to perfection. They have all the traditional pickled fixins’ and the sauces are authentic and fresh. This place is so fresh I don’t even know how they do it. Five stars for the employees too who are always friendly and helpful. Gita Pita is a truly a gem.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E !! Stopped in for the first time to grab some lunch with my daughter while downtown for a conference. Food was excellent! Homemade pita bread — thin and tasty. Had the gyro — thick sliced meat off the spit and onto a flat iron for a nice crust. Tasty homemade options to add in addition to the standard tomatoes and lettuce. Get the chips to split as a side. Great spot, super nice brothers that own/operate the place! We will definitely be back.

Fresh pita’s made by some really great guys. It’s relatively new so I think the décor is still in progress because that’s the only thing I can complain about.

So far, Gita Pita is my favorite fast food place in GR. Inexpensive, fast, not entirely unhealthy, ample options, and of course, it hits most of the right buttons as far as quality and flavor. I like the pita they use. Not exactly traditional, but unlike the tough, dry pita that Sami’s uses, it’s warm, easier to chew, and holds together a lot better. Sami’s falafel balls are only slightly better/more flavorful and they have pickled beats as an add-on option(Gita Pita does not, sadly), but all-in-all I like Gita Pita slightly better. Chicago Style Gyro is also a pretty decent pita place in town, so I’ll have to review them soon as well.

This is hands down my favorite falafel place of all time. The flavor is extraordinary! Also, they are hand made when ordered. The pit as are also very tasty! I’ve ordered several things off the menu. The gyro bowl is my personal favorite. The staff is always friendly and make sure you get what you want. The new location is much larger than the previous location and has a great location right downtown. If you love falafel and freshly made Mediterranean meals, this is the place for you!

Gita is a great downtown option for casual Gyro and Mediterranean meals. I stopped in last Saturday afternoon around 3pm to find a clean, moderately busy counter. Offering mostly pitas and bowls, a friendly staff member greeted us by asking us if it was our first time in. He then described the main menu items and the ordering process. I found his greeting to be an incredibly good introduction to what they offer and the type of food they serve for newbies. I ordered the falafel pita, but the chicken pita and chicken bowl were also represented at our table. My falafel was made fresh and the portion size was huge! Being a big eater I ate all mine, but no one else came close to finishing there’s so we had some take home leftovers. Price was reasonable, especially for the service and amount of food. The adjacent dining room had plenty of tables too. The only thing I’d change was the cucumber sauce– I like mine super dill-y and found Gita to be on the mild side. I know this completely a matter of preference and I’d say it was tasty. if you are new to having cucumber sauce on food, this is a great way to try it.

After reading so many glowing reviews, I was expecting quite a lot from Gita Pita. Ordering their shawarma bowl, I added baba ghanoush, crisp purple cabbage, raw onion, tomato and fresh parsley with a sprinkling of feta cheese and a generous topping of Tzatziki sauce. Getting to the end of the counter and with all my assorted toppings piled on I was ready to cash out. For a plastic bowl filled with sliced veggies and meat shavings I was surprised by the price. Nearly $ 12? This had better be good. A window seat at the counter and I dug in. The veggies had lost much of their crispness and were in some instances watery. The meat was flavorful and held a unique taste. Overall, not bad. Not great, but worth a second chance.

Update: There is now an extra charge for toppings on fattah bowls.(They didn’t charge us extra for any toppings the first couple of times we were there.) For the regular bowls, though,(the ones with rice) toppings are all included.

Gita Pita is a phenomenal eatery in a convenient location. It’s grab n go food that melds gourmet flavor with fast food mobility. The pita bread here is consistently top notch. Using that medium to combine all the other flavors offered works seemlessly. It’s definitely in your interest to stop and enjoy a chicken or steak shawarma with all 4 toppings and garlic sauce.

Very nice staff, they helped us with our order and made us some delicious pitas I had the chicken shawarma and my boyfriend had the steak. We also got the lentil soup and side order of falafels. The shawarmas were huge and delicious. They use pita bread that was made in house which is a big plus. The falafels were made to order so they were super fresh. The lentil soup was just alright. Chicken may have been a little salty but it didn’t feel that way when I had it with the bread and rest of the filling stuff. We will definitely be back here!

Flavor that will knock your socks off. If that sounds good keep reading, if you prefer bland am sandwiches stop reading as this place will not be for you. To start, this is the perfect lunch place. The pita is made fresh every couple minutes and is just warm and perfect. On my most recent visit I had a gyro fattah bowl, spicy style. It was served on a bed of fresh hommos with gyro meat that was melt in your mouth but with a little crisp on the outside. The flavored were epic and despite being crazy full I ate it all. Whether you want a sandwich(pita) salad or something else this place has the flavor!

very good food! I’ve been looking for a good gyro around here and this is great! I’ve been a couple times and the food never disappoints, its a large portion size and the crew is awesome! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for good food at decent prices.

A simple set up but not a simple taste. The food is delicious. It is one of those things where I don’t know what makes it taste so good, except for the fact that it just does. I have had both the veggie plater and the chicken shawarma bowl. Both of these items did not disappoint in the very least. The chicken shawarma is so moist and flavorful, it keeps your fork going back for more. The ingredients are all fresh in flavor and vibrant in color. The workers are super friendly and willing to help you navigate through the ordering line to make sure your order is exactly how you want your food. The only reason for the dock of one star is because you have to wait for your food a bit. This is something I wasn’t expecting for how the order process went. It seems as though you have to wait a little bit for falafel balls or greek fries. This just may be because they have been busy each time I have been in, so the challenge may be keeping up with the demand. And when I say wait a few minutes, it is nothing major– like five minutes– just wasn’t expecting the wait. This place will certainly be a place I frequent often!

My husband and I have been going to another popular local gyro chain for several years and have been becoming increasingly disappointed with the quality of food and poor service. Gita Pita is a Godsend! The owner, Adam, is incredibly polite, introducing you to the menu and giving you the«run down» prior to placing your order explaining his wonderful made-in-house items. His smile and welcoming disposition make you feel extremely comfortable, even with some new-ish terms on the menu. Of course, because I can’t help myself, I tried the standard gyro on their homemade bread(a bit thinner than a pita, but much more delicious). I added the purple cabbage and harath salad(made in house), feta, and tzatziki sauce. It. Was. Awesome. I ordered my husband a «freestyle gyro» which is a standard gyro with pickles, garlic sauce, and hot sauce sautéed together with the other toppings(ALL made in house). He said it was the best gyro he has ever had! Hot sauce wasn’t too hot, more flavorful than anything. We threw in a couple falafel just to try them and they were fantastic also, crunchy on the outside, creamy in the inside and fantastic in the left over garlic sauce. My only regret was not getting to try Adam’s homemade hummus as he had been completely bought out! If that’s not a testament to how good it is, then I don’t know what is! BONUS– everything tastes even better as leftover the next day! We will be back for sure and soon. Good bye other local gyro joint with your cold meat and rude service! Gita Pita is where it’s at!

I called in to place a to-go order and the girl who answered the phone sounded like she didn’t really know what she was doing. It was really noisy on the phone, like a lot of commotion or static. I know that they just opened but service could have been better, or someone should have trained her better. Now for food wise, we ordered 3 steak shawarma pitas and 1 chicken shawarma pita. Usually Mediterranean places give you a generous amount of food, but when we got home, the sandwiches were a bit thinner than we expected. Come to find out, the bread isn’t like a gyro, it’s like a crêpe/tortilla like bread. The veggies weren’t pickled, and it didn’t have lettuce in it. We ordered the combo, which is $ 2.99, and comes with fries and a drink. The fries were actually chips. They were bitter, so either it’s due to them leaving it in the oil for too long, or they need to change their oil. Which is strange because they just opened not too long ago, so their oil can’t be that old. Anyhoot, the upcharge for that wasn’t worth it. I say skip the ‘fries’. Went in to get my order and I didn’t realize it, until I got home, they gave me the wrong order or they just made the order incorrectly, but the girl who took my order repeated my order back to me correctly. So I don’t know what happened there. I ended up getting 2 steak shawarmas and 2 chicken shawarma pitas. So I guess it is partially my fault for not checking before I left, but they were dead when I went in to order, don’t know how they could get a simple order wrong. Anyways, service was… not that great, got my order wrong. And food was… alright. If you’re looking for a quick bite, not a bad place to stop by. Maybe pita wasn’t my thing, I’ll probably return for something else in the future, if I’m craving for some Mediterranean food, since the location is so convenient.
