Seriously, if you’re interested in delivery, go elsewhere! After ordering from Eat24, I got an order confirmation via email. When I called the delivery service, after waiting over 2 hours for my food, they told me that the order wasn’t ever placed. I have the damned CONFIRMATION! This is NOTOK! Now everything is closed, and Eat 24 doesn’t respond. Way to go!

I am not an expert on Chinese food per say, but this place seemed to have a good balance of authentic things and more Americanized favorites. The dumplings(we got them steamed) were delicious and the Lo Mein was super flavorful with very tender, thin sliced beef and noodles that were cooked perfectly, neither too mushy nor too tough. We also had ma po tofu, which I ordered slightly mild after being traumatized by hot lava tofu in Chinatown — it was very flavorful and the perfect level of spice for my lame-o baby taste buds! The service was reasonable, and although the restaurant décor is outdated it appeared clean.

I’ve been going to Golden Gate for 20+ years. They have my all time favorite fried rice, crab rangoon and egg rolls. Their fried rice is somehow unlike any other kind I’ve tried, and I’ve eaten from dozens in multiple states. Do yourself a favor and choose the combination fried rice. They use chopped snow pea pods instead of just peas. The combo variety has pork, chicken, shrimp, mushroom, snow peas, bean sprouts and eggs. I might even be forgetting something!(They’ll also modify easily for you — I order mine no mushrooms.) The crab rangoon has the best flavor! They did recently change the wonton wrapper they use for this; it’s flakier. Still delicious, but I prefer the previous version. The one thing you can count on is that their egg rolls and crab cheese are always perfectly fried. They also have a chicken noodle soup with clear broth and green onions that I adore. Again, never found anything even similar elsewhere. This is a wonderful family restaurant with a longstanding clientele. They also offering catering for wedding receptions and other large groups. Due to them being a family restaurant, they close when they do large functions. They always have a calendar on their wall informing you of any special hours or closed dates.

Golden Gate has been my local Chinese restaurant of choice for almost 15 years. Good food, good prices, it’s not as fancy as Yen Ching but always seems fresh and tastes great. My only complaint is they do a lot of weddings so multiple times on the weekend I have arrived only to see they are closed for a wedding. They have a buffet option for lunch(and dinner on weekends I think) but you can always order off the menu.
