My husband and I were looking to purchase our first home in Eastown, Grand Rapids in 2013. We reached out to Griffin Properties because they are located in Eastown. I sent an inquiry and Shannon, a relator with Griffin responded. She asked me some questions, I replied and we exchanged a few emails. Then, she just quit responding. ?? One of our good friends knows Diane who is the owner of Griffin Properties. He gave her a call and she assured him that she would personally work with us. We decided to give them a second chance since Diane, the owner, assured us that she would be our realtor. My husband and I were relocating from another state to Michigan so we made the 3 hour drive to meet Diane and see a few houses. We get to the location and Diane isn’t there. Diane had sent her employee Jane to meet us and show us the property. OK, we understand things come up so we tour the houses with Jane. Long story short, Diane ends up pawning Jane off on us. So, now Jane is our realtor. We decided to just roll with that and continued looking at homes with Jane. Fast forward 7 months of back and forth travel to MI from out of state, too many deals lost to count, unresponsive and unclear communication with Jane and we still have never met Diane. Every deal we lost we asked for an explanation and Jane couldn’t elaborate on what happened. It was very clear that Jane was new to real estate and we felt she will ill-equipped to help us get a house. So, after wasting 7 months of time we ask around for a recommendation for a relator at a different company. That’s how we found Maury Medina with Five Star Realty. Maury was INCREDIBLE. He knows his job and is aggressive. He has the perfect personality for a realtor. The very first house we put an offer in we got it! Done deal! It took us less than 2 weeks working with him. A follow up story, my friend who initially referred me to Diane at Griffin recently saw her at an event and she acted like she didn’t know him. They were introduced and she gave him a blank stare… he’s know her for years. Interpretation, you’re just a number to them, not a person. Save yourself time and go with another company.
