My favorite Chinese buffet! The food is always great and the customer service is nice.

Been enjoying this family owned restaurant’s recipes for over 17 years. They treat us like one of their own family. The food never disappoints. Try it today! Enjoy!

Went on a Sunday thinking buffetts are usually at thier best on Sunday’s. Experience was fine but nothing spectacular. I was disapointed in the lack of seafood, especially concidering how big they advertise seafood. Just mostly shrimp and fake crab. No crab legs. Sushi was OK but lacking in the meat proportions. The other food was OK, not great but it was generally warm and better than other simular buffett in town. Little in the area of flavor. The soup was cold but I have learned that it is apparently impossible for Asian style buffetts to have hot soup available. It just goes against the laws of science. The staff was nice and quick. The place was not busy but there was a steady stream of ppl coming and going. The hot tea was really good. The place was very clean. I would recommend this place if you were in the mood for such a type of eating choice but I’m not sure I will be going back anytime soon.

If you’re looking for a good asian buffet– you can’t beat this place. Everything in the menu is westernized asian and all great quality and taste. If you’re looking for a salad bar or a place with a modified menu– this is not a place for you. But if you want good home style asian/asian American food– this is it– with a price and service you can’t beat! The chicken wings are to die for!!!

As far as Chinese buffets go this place is pretty descent. The dishes are very tasty and the variety is great! They defiantly seem to have more of an «ethnic» flair compared to most buffets. There is sushi here, but it’s mostly fake crab and veggies. I’m ok with that, but I don’t come here for the sushi specifically. As far as cleanliness goes this restaurant does pretty well. The times I’ve been here the floors, buffet area, and bathrooms were free of nastiness.

This place is a very clean chinese buffet with friendly folks to take care of your dishes, or keep your drink topped off. This is probably the #2 buffet in Grand Rapids at this time quality-wise.

Despite what anyone has stated below. You are not going to get better food at any other Chinese buffet in West Michigan. Mandarin is one place where you will not see food piled into each container. They keep the load small and make sure that the food comes out fresh. I have never seen a buffet where the employees are constantly monitoring the food. I have ate at many sit down Chinese restaurants in the area and the food is just as good as plated Chinese. Their sushi is not as great as actual sushi places of course. But… How can you beat a sushi bar at a buffet? If you actually want a buffet that is fresh, then go to mandarin.

First time ever i went there to take out buffet. They dont have big boxes only tiny ones. When you checkout you have to ask for fork, napkins and you will not get a bag unless you ask for it. The food Quality could be better.

I DONOTRECOMMEND this«buffet». The selection is so small — yet the prices are higher. They only bring out tiny portions of food on their trays. Not really a «buffet». One of the kitchen staff kept following me around in planned ahead in what I wanted to eat — for example: when it came to dessert — the staff member rushed to the ice cream corner(you have to spoon it out from the freezer) and started loosening the ice cream to make it easier for me to pick up(which was nice). Seek elsewhere.

I eat here every once in a while, mostly for lunch since it is cheaper. The servers are nice and the food is generally fresh. Their crab cheese, tomato shrimp and Mongolian pork are my favorites. Their sushi buffet is actually tasty, obviously not as good as a sushi restaurant, but way better than most buffet sushi. Their dining area is very lovely and everything looks clean. I’ve never had a problem with having my drink refilled or my plates taken care of in a timely fashion. I definitely enjoy eating here.

I would have given this awful excuse for a restaurant no stars if that had been an option. This was by far the worst food and service I have ever experienced at any restaurant ever. From the moment we arrived, I knew it was a mistake. The waitress ignored us for the first 20 minutes we were there, and when she finally did acknowledge us, she behaved as though our asking for a menu was out of line. She was rude, impatient, and inattentive. This seemed to be the attitude of the rest of the staff we encountered as well, but more on that later. Then, there’s the food. It was so bad, we couldn’t even choke it down. We ordered the«specialty» soup, which tasted like water with some vegetables floating around in it. Sadly, that was the best part of the meal. The items we tried from the buffet were beyond terrible. They ranged from completely flavorless to tasting like a salt lick, and the meat was universally rubbery. It was stomach turning. We got 1 round of water, and requested different beverages but never got them. We left with out plates still full of food, having tried perhaps 1 bite from each dish… and even having to spit some out. Then, we got to encounter the«hospitality» of the wait staff once again when we paid. We had a certificate from (the only reason we dined here to begin with), and they tried to deny our use of it. Though we met the terms of use, we spent 10 additional minutes arguing as they told us they changed the terms to no longer include the buffet. Fortunately, the terms were clearly printed on the certificate, and they had no choice but to adhere to them. Their rudeness was absolutely astounding, and they even insisted upon arguing the point further even as they were ringing up the certificate after they had read it over and over. We will never go back here, and we encourage everyone we know not to dine here as well. There are many other quality restaurants that are worth your time and money. AVOID!!!

We eat there a couple of times a month. The food is better than most buffets, and the sushi is a nice addition, although it’s not like at a sushi bar, and the comparison isn’t fair. Come on, it’s 10 bucks or so for all you can eat, whaddaya expect? A good selection of stuff, duck, shrimp, salmon, good soups, along with the usual suspects. Good service, and very friendly people every time. It’s just the ticket for an occasional weeknite quickie.

Me and my best friend tried this place last night, with pretty high hopes. Needless to say, we were disappointed. We chose to eat from the buffet over the entrée’s and maybe that was a bad idea. The food wasn’t very great at all compared to other restaurants in the area. In my best friends opinion, the only good stuff was the sushi and the water. This place doesn’t have crab legs, so don’t expect that if you go. Just expect a small buffet with not so great food. One strange thing that happened while we were there was the lights going out, and then hearing a person say«oops»…talk about awkward. Also for it to be a maximum of about 12 customers in there they sure did take awhile to take our dirty plates. The total for one person with water was $ 10.07 including tax, I probably won’t be back.

After reading the solid review in the Grand Rapids Press a group of us decided to give Mandarin a try. I’ve been to lots of Chinese buffets in Grand rapids and I never have high expectations, but this was just terrible. No one could finish their plates. Multiple friends described the same«musty gym socks» flavor. I dared not try the sushi(I never touch it on a buffet), but my buddy with the iron stomach literally gagged. I mean, this guy will eat anything. I ‘ve never seen him gag. He said it tasted like stale fish water that had been sitting on the counter all afternoon. We all agreed to never go back again. Unfortunately this may be one of those situations where when the restaurant was new and popular they had more movement of the food, but now that business has slowed down freshness has died.

I’ve seen Mandarin a couple times driving around 28th Street and after reading the other reviews, decided to stop in. I was really in the mood for sushi and my lady doesn’t like sushi, so we needed a compromise. Mandarin is decorated nicely and it’s not a megaplex-buffet. It is a smaller buffet was just enough stuff to keep it good. The sushi was actually decent as well! Obviously, it’s not a sushi bar, it’s a Chinese buffet with sushi. The crab cheese is delicious. Usually, a buffet has terrible crab cheese. soggy or overcooked or stale. But these were crispy, delicious, just like they had come from a chinese take out. Now, buffets aren’t really my style, but once in a while I enjoy going. Like, 3 times a year. If I were to choose a buffet, Ming 10 would be where I would go. Mandarin isn’t a destination for me to go to. If I were driving in the vicinity and decided on buffet, then yes, I would stop in.
