Mediterranean Island is an ethnic grocery store with many Middle Eastern, Greek, African and Eastern European foods, beverages, and even some housewares(such as Turkish coffee pots and cups). They have an extensive selection of honey, olives, various types of fresh cheese and yogurt, spices and bulk items, such as reds lentils, coffee, black tea, wheat berries, and beans. They also have ready to eat injera, which is the bread they serve at Ethiopian restaurants, and teff flour, which is what injera is typically made from. Of course there is pita bread as well, wheat and white. The candy/sweets collection is awesome and they have a wide variety of baklava, Turkish delights, hard candy, and cookies. If you grew up with relatives from any of the aforementioned regions, one or more of these items is sure to inspire nostalgia. The store also features an awesome deli that has samosas, a huge assortment of olives, fresh feta, falafels, baba ganoush, hummus, grape leaves, egg rolls, tabouleh salad and more. We like to get an assortment of items and make that a dinner over the weekend; then we have leftovers to snack on during the week. The grocery store is clean and well kept and the shelves are well stocked. It’s a unique place to check out in the GR area with so many new things to try!

Mediterranean Island is the only grocery store I go to. Very fresh produce and baked bread and a great selection of meat with prices well under market value. The staff is also very friendly and I can always find what I’m looking for. No need to go anywhere else!

Not only good for«Mediterranean» items, but many staple and bulk items here as well, and really from all around the world. We love the hummus, and the fresh veal selection. Also the freshly made sfeeha. Great prices on produce and nuts. Wander up and down the aisles to find all kinds of interesting stuff. I sometimes wish I could follow people home who are buying foods and spices I am not familiar with and find out how to use them! Such a great place to have so much diversity, which is often hard to find in West Michigan.

Fun place to shop! Fresh pitas and the deli is incredible. Cheapest place to get feta cheese by a long shot. The humus in the deli is smooth and flavorful, much better than any prepackaged stuff at the grocery store.

Mediterranean Island is a great place for mediterrananean gorceries and deli food. They have an extensive selection of groceries. We started to be vegetarian and found mediterranean food to be great and tasty for this so we now get most of our supplies from M.I. such as bulgar wheat for tabouleh, tahini for babaganoush and hummus, chickpeas, all sorts of spices, pita bread, et, etc. Their deli has excellent tabouleh, falafel and samosas and kibbh along with many other deli food and feta cheeses. They also have baked goods such as meat and vege stuffed pastries. I also make sausages(not for me) on the side and they have great spices for this too. I think we are lucky to have such a store in GR. they definitely add to the diversity of the area.
