We were told abiut this restaurant and decided to try it out. The ambiance was nice but it was freezing in the restaurant! Our hostess was professional and was very helpful. We ordered the family platter where you can choose 4 kabobs of your choice. We choice the koubideh, shrimp kabob, rack of lamb, and a fillet mignon kabob. We also ordered the gourmeh sabzi which comes with rice and hummus for the appetizer and the Shirazi salad. Almost everything barely had salt! Hummus — was ok but quantity quite little. Gourmeh sabzi — we had to send this back. It was bitter! We’ve had this dish before and its usually very delicious. Family platter — the fillet mignon kabab was the best, the shrimp kabob was nice as well, koubideh needed salt, and the rack if lamb was basically burnt! If it wasn’t burnt it would have been nice but needed more seasoning. Shirazi salad — if you’ve eaten Irani food before then you might be looking forward to this salad… Don’t keep your hopes up when it comes to this restaurant. The salad lacked lemon, salt and whatever else it needed to make it great. Overall I wouldn’t go back. It’s an overpriced restaurant and for what we paid we should have gotten an amazing meal. Very disappointed.

I thought the food at this place was wonderful. Had the lamb shank. My only complaint was that the service was a little slow.

Well, my friend who brought me here did not inform me that casual attire was not exactly legit here! So I was a bit uncomfortable, but they didn’t turn us away so that was nice. I’d never had Persian food before this and man, I’m in love! Such aromatic flavors, light and simple, yet so satisfying! I really enjoyed everything we are here though I was drastically underdressed! The staff was very nice as well! My only complaint is that this is such a unique place I wish it was more affordable. But if you’re looking for something interesting and on the fancier side this is the spot to stop!

My husband I went for dinner and were very pleased. The presentation of our main course was excellent.(I didn’t think to take a picture-sorry) The food itself did not disappoint either, it tasted great! The staff was prompt and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I don’t have any complaints about the food or service and will be back soon!

I’m very pleased there’s such an interesting place like this in Grand Rapids! I’ve had only a few past experiences with Iranian cuisine leading up to my first visit to Shiraz Grille(although Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine is one of my most favored/familiar cuisine umbrellas – particularly Greek, Lebanese, Israeli, and Turkish varieties), and after just completing my second meal there, I am extremely pleased with this establishment. The first time I went with my father, whom I must mention tends to have a very bland palette(he’s getting better though!). The décor was a tad kitschy(the columns seemed a bit much), but still very warm, inviting and charming, nonetheless. Our server was very helpful and informative, as was the hostess(she gave my dad and I a very interesting and informative explanation of their large silk painting of an ancient Persian goddess). My second visit Shiraz, I brought my fellow-vegetarian dining buddy and she similarly was impressed. To me, Iranian food is very different from Eastern Mediterranean and Levant food. The best way I can describe it is that it’s aromatic, hearty, earthy and herbal, and heavy on the beans and lentils. Spice wise, it’s all pretty mild, but still offers enough other flavors to keep me interested and completely satisfied. My best tip is to focus on the different rice dishes that this place offers. Iranian food seems very rice-oriented and they do specialty rice dishes very well at Shiraz. If you’re a vegetarian and/or an adventurous eater, I highly recommend this place.

This is one of the most incredible Middle Eastern restaurants I’ve ever been to! My husband and I love this place. The food is really really delicious. One of our favorite dishes is Fessenjon(Pomegranate chicken). The Pomegranate sauce and the side dish of roasted sweet potatoes melt in your mouth… so yummy, it makes me want to eat it just thinking about it. Really nice place to go for a romantic dinner.

We went on a Tuesday night so no issue with getting seats or service. Inside décor was tastefully Middle Eastern chic. Everyone was so nice. Appetizer — Panir & Sabzi(feta & herb dip) appetizer — Yum. Two entrees — Mahicheh(Lamb Shanks) and Filet Mignon Kabob and both were very good although I would have like a tad more spice/flavor. Still no complaints. Yum Yum. Persian Ice Cream for desert — are you ready? Yum Yum Yum — yes it was that good. I definitely recommend it; shockingly great! A bottle of wine was a welcome surprise — in Iran, that would be breaking the law! This is one of those places where I wish I could do a 4.5 star rating. It’s not quite in the 5 star league but it’s on the cusp. Make sure you search for coupons or Groupons.. .. . Shiraz Grille is always running specials. Just watch out for belly-dancing night.

SO good! Delightful interior & staff, incredible food, Tuesday early bird specials, belly dancing Thursday evenings… Get in here! We loved the pomegranate chicken dish, which we replaced with lamb(super tasty stew with delicious saffron jasmine rice)! The appetizer tray is the way to go – try several new yummy Persian dishes at once. Really glad we got the Groupon to try this place :-)

Love this restaurant, service is always great, the food is fantastic, it is very cozy convenient, and for fine dining, you can’t beat the prices. Plus once a week they have a belly dancer. I don’t know of any other restaurant that has something like this — absolutely recommend that you try this restaurant.

I ordered Koobideh which is a Persian signature kabob; it was terribly prepared and grilled. The rice was sticky(shefteh) deep in fat(it was not butter). One quarter of grilled tomato and no spoon on the table(ok, it is America not Iran, but when asked for spoon, they brought tea spoon!) The food quality was below average and price was unjustifiable for such a quality.

This place had really slow service but I did not like the food here. I went with two of my cousins and they both disliked the food and the slow service. The lamb tasted nothing like lamb, it tasted more like microwaved sausage. I was unsatisfied with almost everything.

Sunday even seemed to be extremely quiet, but that’s the only downfall. Food was excellent. Make sure you upgrade your rice for $ 2. It’s definitely worth it. Traditional kabob was really tasty. Orange saffron chicken is something that I will be getting again next time. This is the place to go for a quiet meal with great flavors.

I dined here several weeks ago with a couple of friends, and it was a first for us all. We came on a Saturday afternoon at an off time so we were one of the two or three tables there. The interior is beautiful, the service was good, and most importantly, the food was delicious! The Kashk Bodemjon appetizer was my favorite part of our meal, and my Mahicheh was so tender it pretty much fell apart when I touched it with my fork. However, I did like my friend’s lamb dish better, the Shish Leek. The seasonings were fantastic and the dish more flavorful than mine, so that’s what I would order the next time. For dessert I ordered their Persian ice cream, which is made there, and it was by far one of my favorite desserts I’ve had at any restaurant. I really liked how different it is from your standard fare in the area. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I’ve been wanting to go back since our first experience! The food was pretty good, and I say pretty good because while my chicken was dry everything else tasted good and my girlfriends chicken was perfect. The service was a different story. It was very slow. We were there for more than 10 minutes before the waitress brought out the bread and it took around 30 minutes after that four our food to come out. Then there was no pen with our bill and it took me another five minutes to flag someone down to get one. Overall I was disappointed to say the least.

I was very excited when entering this restaurant with my husband last month. I love this style of food and couldn’t wait to taste the lovely decadent flavors. I was a bit let down however. The food was good but it lacked flavor of any kind. It was cooked to perfection but what happened to all the spices? My lamb tasted like, well, lamb. I have to say that I was unaware of how bland that could really be. Oh well. Better luck next time. At least the décor was pretty and the chairs comfy. Definitely a good date location!

I was pretty disappointed after coming here for my birthday. The service is VERY slow, including the waiter checking on you during the meal(which could be a plus to some but its hard to request things). A waitress was very kind to bring out some lemon but I could have finished my meal by the time it got to the table. I actually had to stop eating to have something left to use it on. Very beautiful dining area. The food was average. I enjoyed the portion sizes, it was nice to be able to eat the full meal and not be super full, refreshing for this area. And I thought the flavors were pretty well balanced so that you could eat everything without getting an overload of any one thing. The chicken was cooked just ok. It was a little dry and the flavor wasn’t anything special, particularly for the price.
