Great food, great service, great beer. Happy to be at work staff. Lots of tasty and complex(flavorful) beer. And really yummy pizza. I can’t think of something I didn’t like. Oh — it can be tricky to find parking. And I wish they’d open a place in Ann Arbor.

Stopped in on our way out of town after Founders Fest this past weekend and was pretty blown away by our experience there. The beers were all great(especially Gamechanger!) and we all really enjoyed the beer cheese and the Pizza flight. The building itself is great and the Tigers theme was awesome! Our waitress was amazing with great recommendations(high five for the suggestion to put the beer cheese on our pizza crust) and a really great attitude. We were there right at opening on Sunday morning and it didn’t take long for the place to fill up for lunch… I highly recommend checking this place out, you won’t regret it. Just wish it wasn’t a couple hour drive away for us lol. We’ll definitely be back!

I found absolutely nothing wrong in the least with this place. The beers were top notch. One person in our party wasn’t even a beer drinker and she found a few beers that she liked. Most ingenious thing ever-Pizza Flight. Not only was it super creative, but it was seriously one of the best pies I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back.

Loved the tasting option, where you can check off the beers you want to taste(as many or as few) and they bring them out in a wooden paddle in the shape of the«Michigan mitten.» Liked the beers I tried, and the pizza was really good too. They have a nice outdoor seating area that we enjoyed too!

Good place, decent ambience, great beer and awesome pizza. My only complain was that portions sizes are too large. No options for a smaller size pizza. Good brewery, tried the Garden of Fields pizza with chicken and the Beer cheese which was yummy as well.

Old firehouse now brewery. 16 beers on tap. Small menu but well executed options. Packed! Favorite was Label Up and Mitten Milk Stout.

Great deal on Mondays: $ 5 beer flights and $ 20 pizza flights. You get to pick 6 beers from a large selection of their brews. Same with pizza. There are some pretty creative pizza options(Thai, pesto) and traditional. It was hard to pick 6. Pizza was pretty good. Beer was meh. I liked 2 of the 6 beers. Overall the beer seemed a little lacking in flavor. Sat on the patio with my dog and the staff was wonderful. Easy street parking.

Stopped by for a drink and food on the way back from a day at the beach. My fault for not drinking beer at a brewery, but the cider choice stunk as it was too berry laden. The waitstaff was so sweet as we had a dog with us and the patio(and restaurant) is dog friendly on the deck. We settled in and the dog got as much attention as we did, with his very own bucket of water and lots of petting. We both got pizza and we were both very very happy with it. I went with the mediterranean, which was roasted garlic, feta, fresh basil, and kalamata olives. It was delicious and huge. He went with the margherita which looked delicious also. I wouldn’t recommend the sangria, which is what I went with, but as I said I should have known better. Final bonus of this place was for me the vintage baseball memorabilia. I’ll be back.

Normally when I visit GR I go to another brewery a few blocks away. We all know the one, but I wanted to try something new. The Mitten has a lot of good things to offer. First of all the food is good! The fish dip app was delicious. There were five of us total and we got the one app and a pizza flight, plenty of food. The pizza was really good! I love the flight idea too, so cool to get to pick 6 kinds because I can never decide which one to get. Second, the beer was very nice. Started with a flight: marzen, amber ale, cream ale, stout, kolsch, blonde. I enjoyed all of these but my favorite was the marzen(Mitten lager). I would recommend getting a flight because they have a fairly big selection. Overall I great place. I also really liked the building which is an old fire station.

Original place that stays true to it’s colors in Michigan. Pizza flights with generous quartered portions of 6 different samples for $ 25, genius! We had a group of 6 that couldn’t finish two pizza flights so one for two should do the trick. Hotdog pizza, I’m sorry not sorry, this is amazing. Tastes just like a hotdog… not a Chicago dog because they added ketchup. Growler fills for $ 10 – 15, yep! A League of Their own is the best blonde ale I have ever had. Ever beer was top notch and tops in the category. Man do I wish the distributed. The only knock is that we saw a hooker, yep a hooker, making a transaction as we were leaving the place. It isn’t in the best area of GR so just a heads up.

As far as brewing companies go this is one of the better ones in town. The food is awesome, and you will be surprised at just how good the pizza is. The dough is very doughy and fresh, and they always have a pizza special that is exciting and or different. You can also order a pizza sampler which is a great way to make everyone at the table happy, and try a couple things. As far as beer goes they usually have something for everyone — with milder lagers, a fun cream ale, some ipa’s and a variety of dark stouts with some good flavors. The maple pecan brown is fantastic! The service is great as well, very knowledgable and friendly staff. They do trivia on weds nights– but make sure to get there early because it gets packed. Parking is also a little tough, you kind of have to find street parking or find an empty lot a block a way or across Leonard street. Another bonus is that they have a big room upstairs that can be rented out for events.

We stopped in last night since we were on the NW side of town and pizza sounded SOGOOD. We got there right around 5pm and downstairs was already packed(Tigers were on a little later). We grabbed a seat in the nearly empty upstairs with a good view of the TV’s. We were greeted right away and our drink order was taken quickly. My husband started off with the Triple Crown Brown– give it a B+. We then ordered our pizza and a basket of peanuts to hold us over. The upstairs filled up pretty quickly by the time the game came on, bar and all! So good to see! Our pizza came in a reasonable amount of time and it was heaven! We had the Westerdog– a chili dog on pizza crust. It was awesome! That was our first time having it and I was a little apprehensive, however, we would definitely have it again. SOGOOD! My husband ended on a porter, I can’t remember which one, but it was definitely good! A on that one! This place is always busy, good for them! Not always good for us :) If you don’t get there early or at an off time. you will wait. but the pizza is worth it! Lots of creative options on the menu and some delish specials, too!

This place is great. Good beer, great pizza and a laid back atmosphere. I haven’t had a bad beer or a pizza I didn’t like here. Most recently, I tired a Westerdog hot dog pizza which was different and amazing. It had chili, hotdogs, mustard and ketchup on it. You wouldn’t think it would be that great, but it was. I’ve also tried the Pesto Chicken pizza and it did not disappoint. I really liked the artichoke hearts and pesto sauce on it. I wasn’t crazy about their ciders. They had a very strong after taste. However, their Coconut Brown Porter was awesome. The coconut really came through in a strong but not overwhelming way. The Session IPA was also really good. It was clean and light and perfect with a heavier pizza. I plan on coming here again and bringing friends. It’s a great find in GR and I highly recommend it.

Our waitress was great. Made some great recommendations and even brought us a few to try that weren’t part of our flight. The fish dip was a great app. There was really only one beer we liked out of the flight which is why only 3 stars. 2 tips. I’d go before 3pm and get BBQ at the place across the street before. Also, leave time to check out the distillery next door. It is amazing.

Great food, awesome atmosphere. We showed up at 5 so I could show my son who is 8 the great tigers theme and of course the old firehouse. Some how we were dismissed as customers viable of our servers attention. My son loved the pizza and he’s picky. He ate the entire portion. He loved the peanuts but was taken back by the fact the shells couldn’t go on the floor. We had a couple great pomegranate ciders. We ordered bruschetta but it showed up after we asked for our tab. Mixed feelings on coming back. Probably would if it wasn’t for a drunk woman that said why is a kid here? I don’t take my child anywhere that doesn’t have a kids menu.

This place was super packed when we went 1 ½ hour wait! We put our name in and left for a drink elsewhere to come back later. We came back to find out most people left and the wait went down. We were seated upstairs at the second bar. The beer list was just ok nothing crazy. I got a coconut porter which I had to wait 20 min for. Our waitress was terrible! She took our beer order and left then did not return until 30 min later to take a food order. That was the last we saw of her. The food took over an hour to come out. The food was great! I loved it the Stromboli was great as well as the red pepper hummus. If only the service was good and it did not take 2 hours for a beer and apps.

Mitten’s beers get less and less interesting to me every time I go. Which is a bummer because I had once thought them among my top breweries in GR. The beers are just okay now. I’m not exactly in love with the sports theme, but it’s not too bothersome. The food though! Bangin! However we did have some ridiculous difficulties getting them to just take meat off of a few and instead gave us completely vegan alternates. Which I suppose is okay. It all tasted fine, so whatever. It was just a weird run around and I’ve had similar issues with service here before. The pizza and food is all really great though!

The Mitten took awhile to win me over. I don’t think it was necessarily their fault by any means just the reasons as to why I ended up there the first few times I checked the place out. The first time I know was meeting someone for the first time on a blind date so I definitely had other things on my mind, anxious, stressed, etc than truly taking in The Mitten for what it is worth in an organic experience. Another time I was there was for trivia and it was packed to the gills. I love trivia but not a fan of having standing room only. So with all of that being said I have been back many more times to meet friends and it has won me over. They are doing great things. Their beer gets better every time I go. You can tell they are experimenting more with different styles and flavors. The bottom line-this is a fun, relax, baseball themed brewery. Even if you don’t like baseball this place won’t disgust you with the baseball theme everywhere. They do it in a very subtle way and definitely not tacky. I love that it was an hold firehouse as well! I still have yet to go upstairs, but I am sure it is just as awesome! The staff is always super friendly and helpful! I appreciate that they are willing to let you have a sip of a beer before committing and not charging you $ 1.50 for the sip! Keeping rocking it!

The Mitten is my favorite brewery! I have never been to another brewery where I love absolutely every single beer on tap. This restaurant also makes delicious pizza and has attentive and patient wait staff.(Sometimes it takes me a long time to make up my mind what I want to order, and I am lactose intolerant so I needed very little cheese on my pizza. My waitress was understanding and gracious.) I also love the vision of Mitten, to be a neighborhood restaurant and brewery. Their hours reflect that vision, as they close around 11pm.
