Completely overpriced for the quality… they offer up large portions with no flavor and they aren’t high quality cuts. We tried for the first time tonight and won’t be back. I had the sirloin and it was overpriced, didn’t have any flavor and was pretty thin. I selected the new potatoes for my side based on the Unilocal reviews and found them bland and oily. Honestly the ones from Neddermans are waaaay better. My husband had the prime rib and thought it was worth about 40% of the price he paid. We really wanted to support a local restaurant, but we’re just disappointed.

Table of 5 enjoyed all their choices… steak for 2, chicken sandwich, salmon and pork chop dinners. The cheese spread with crackers served with salad was awesome. Its our 3rd visit here. We will keep coming back.

Here for first time for brunch. Excellent. And the usual«over the plate» portion sizes! We’ll be back… again. The coffee kept flowing, after a ND football night, a fresh refresher wake-up.

I heard great things about this place and decided to give it a try. If you are set on a great steak, this is not it. I get frustrated when I pay someone good money for a steak and leave knowing I could’ve spent 50−60% less money and cooked a better steak at home. This place is a perfect example of mediocrity.

Tried Eddie’s for the first time last night. I wasn’t hungry for a steak, so I tried the Cobb Salad. Very big, lots of chicken, no problem there. My date had the Prime Rib Dip sandwich and was happy. Very good fries with it. But what put me off at the start was standing, waiting for a table, with no one acknowledging our presence, feeling like we were in the way as waitresses bustled by us, and having to listen to a waitress loudly complain to the bartender, right at the entrance. Noting like listening to b#itching while you wait. I debated walking out, but we were hungry. As far as the atmosphere and décor, yuck. Maybe some day I’ll give it another chance.

Being Mother’s Day, of course I wanted to take my mother out for dinner. She has been raving about Eddie’s Steak Shed so I decided on this for our meal. Total of four of us came to the restaurant. Upon arriving, the front door appeared to be missing a door knob which confused me, realized the main entrance was the side door. They had«reader choice» award stickers plastered all over the front window very tacky like… this was already a red flag to me. Living the glory of a small town paper. The atmosphere was quaint as a «shed» would be, good ambiance for a steak house. We were handed menus at sat quickly. First thing I noticed was sticker shock. $ 30 for a ribeye at a shed? Sirloin for $ 45?! These prices are rivaling fine dining steak houses. None-the-less, I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt since my mother likes the joint. We were first handed a basket of bread, crackers, and«cheese». My parents shared the house specialty sirloin with bake potato and salad. My sister had broasted pork chops and fries. I had my favorite, ribeye, red potatoes, and chicken and rice soup. Lets go through these one at a time. After being sat, service was so slow that I was dying for any type of food. I got excited for bread and cheese and crackers… simple, delicious, how do you mess this up? Well it happened. We were brought what looked like 4 slices of generic white bread from a bag, a basket of random individualy packaged crackers, and«cheese» that can be best described as pimento cheese butter? It was simply unpalatable. I said, well dinners should be out soon. After a long wait, I hear a sizzle of hot plates and got excited. On appearance, it looked extremely sloppy. The hot plate was cockeyed and almost fell off the black coaster, the sirloin was pieced together by several smaller pieces. Steak was unseasoned and extremely dry and tasteless. Salads were standard but tasty. Bake potatoes were average and generic. Pork chop dinner was cooked well, hard to mess up frying, but also lacked any kind of seasoning so it was bland. Fries were undercooked with no salt. Ribeye came out beautifully cooked… this is the only reason I gave this review 2 stars. Problem is, no salt or pepper! Basic 101 on cooking… perhaps they are on a budget with all the Groupons they are giving out. I guess that should have been a red flag as well. The red potatoes were just swimming in melted butter with no taste. The soup was actually tasty but could use more pepper. Overall, not worth over $ 130 for 4 people. If the price was lower, I wouldn’t expect as much. For that price the managment should have delt with the SCREAMING kid in the next booth and the other child behind me throwing silverwear. I understand catering to families but this should not be done at the expense of other patrons safety and sanity. Better service would have made the rating go up but arriving at 5:00pm with a slow Mother’s Day crowd, I did not expect to leave at 6:45pm. Go to your chain steak houses in town to pay less and have a better dining experience or pay just slightly more and go to the fancy fine dining steak house down the street.

Rarely do I take the time to write a negative review, but this seems like I’d be doing a public service. We stopped in on Saint Patty’s Day at 5:30PM for dinner — thinking ahead we made a reservation since there were 8 of us. We were greeted and sat immediately — so success with the reservation. A sign in the entry way read«children’s meals ½ off» but you could clearly see it was written over an older message«thank you for voting us best steak.» They had awards on the door from 2005 – 2012 for best steak from a local newspaper. You pass a back-bar on your way to the seating area and the ambiance screams alcoholics welcome. An entire wall is dedicated to a Miller Lite ad — there was a tap list — chalkboards featured mixed drink recommendations. Alas, we sit down and each of us order a drink… Only for the waitress(who wrote everything down) to look up and say, «Oops! I cannot serve alcohol!» Upon further questioning, we never did find out why they wouldn’t serve us. We weren’t the only ones though, it was really odd that she didn’t explain. Also, she was wearing a Jameson T-Shirt. Food was VERY meh. Burned French fries. Really good prime rib sandwich, but the $ 16 price tag seemed steep. There is a perpetual Groupon available $ 16 for $ 25 — I guess that should have been a sign there are problems here. Half price kids meals seem like a good idea, but all they’ve done is doubled the price of any other kids meal at any other restaurant.

I will never eat here again. This restaurant is a scam! Mushrooms AND onions are two separate charges($ 3.99 and $ 2.99 respectively). Ordered a $ 32.99 ribeye. I tasted ONLY burned char-marksThe service was awful right down to the server telling us our orders were complicated and insulting our menu choices. She was exasperated right down to explaining the bills once we saw our ridiculous bills. The food was subpar for any steak house. Don’t waste your money!!!

My rating is for breakfast only. I really hate to put the word out about this place, but I have to admit that, for breakfast, it is the best. I’ve had the Country Skillet twice now, and I have to admit that it is the best that I’ve had,(and I’ve tried a lot). My wife also had the same this morning, and she agrees. Several weeks ago, I was there with my son. He had an omelet, and it was very large and also super good. There is also nothing small about the Country Skillet, since we brought another meal home with what was left over. I tried the breakfast here a couple of years ago, and was not impressed. But now things have changed, and if you haven’t been there lately, I advise you to try it out. Remember, this rating is for breakfast only. They are open early on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and open on weekdays at 11:00 am, and will serve the breakfast. Prices are comparable to any other places that I’ve visited. I suppose that now the place will be packed, and I will need to take a number. Still I think that I’ll be honest and let everyone else in on this secret. I have no ties to the place, and this is my honest opinion. Update(03-20-2015): My wife and I have returned twice to this restaurant since the first review, and I am pleased to say that the Steak For Two,($ 38.00), was once again excellent. Several years ago, our steak 42 was quite tough and we didn’t enjoy it, so haven’t ordered it until now. We asked the waitress to make sure that it was tenderized, and this one was cooked perfect, and tasted great. We will do that again soon. Also, we stopped there again for a breakfast, and both of us ordered the Country Skillet. That is the best skillet or anything else that I’ve tasted, and we brought home the leftover for another breakfast the next morning.

I was in town for the holidays and we went to Eddie’s. I was really happy to go to a local place, and the experience was great. We were there for breakfast, and the food was terrific. Certainly a country style menu, and the biscuits and gravy were outstanding. Friendly, down to earth staff, and they were quick and attentive.

Expensive prices without a great atmosphere or superior food. Everything there is okay, something I’d expect from a small town restaurant. Service was touchy. Our waitress was less than friendly. Food was meh. Definitely not worth the price… even with a groupon.

My family and I are trying a new restaurant every week. This week; Eddie’s Steak Shed. First, the place feels like a breakfast joint, and not a very clean one at that. I am sure that in its day, 20 or 25 years sgo, it was considered nice, but everything about it screams dirty, smaller version of Cracker Barrel. The wait staff was nice, but for a steakhouse, I would suggest something more than T-shirts for uniforms. The menus are giant, diner style menus, but the options looked pretty good. There were 6 of us, so we ordered a few apps, which turned out to be large and quite good. My younger daughter ordered the ribs, which were not tough, but tasted like they were boiled, not smoked and then covered in BBQ sauce. My 14 year old son had a ½ lb. «STEAK burger which was pretty bland and flavorless My older son and daughter in law had the Prime Rib and the Ribeye, both of which were pretty good. My wife and I had the Filet. What an incredible disappointment. First, we ordered medium rare and ended up with quite rare. But it was like someone had extracted all the flavor from the meat leaving it looking, and cutting lime a nice tender filet, but tasting like nothing. I don’t think that my wife had more than one or two bites, and I didn’t eat more than a few. We ended up going down the street to DQ just so the evening wouldn’t finish on a really low note.

Eddie’s steak shed was very, very, nice. Very cozy intimate, homey, kinda like being at your grandmas house in the country type feel. I love their creamy chicken soup. I donno if soup is the correct term because it’s so rich and creamy. It’s a nice restaurant with good steak.

I agree with the person who smelled the mildew. And the person who had a fatty prime rib with uncooked onions that were in no way near caramelized! My Filet mignon was in three pieces. What was that about? Toilet tissue quality napkins, not cloth and silverware from the 50’s maybe bought second hand from an old Ponderosa. Oh maybe they bought the uncomfortable picnic tables from them too. I also agree with the person who commented on the crackers in pieces in the packages and what is that cheese supposed to be, country crock with a little cheese in it? Oh, no butter unless you ask for it then it comes out to you frozen. Maybe they pick it up at other restaurants that they visit. Don’t even use the bathroom, that’s the other predominate smell. There are old vanities that have stained bowls and some of the side of the vanity is gone. I could go on but I think you get the picture. I drove 1 hour and a half for the worst $ 80 meal of my entire life.

We were really disappointed last night with our dinner. Our waitresses was awful. The crackers we were given were all crushed in the packages. When we asked for new crackers she took them away and never brought new ones back. Waitress spilled salad dressing on my daughter when she quickly dropped off the salad plates. The price for the steak for two has gone up to $ 38, it was delivered undercooked but when we sent it back it came back burnt and dried up. Just not the Eddies it used to be.

Since moving to the area, we have been told several times to try this place. We finally got around to it. When you walk in, there are two waiting areas and the first thing that hit me was the stench of mildew. I am surprised no one has seemed to mention this. I would get used to the smell but then a breeze of it would hit me during dinner. I am assuming this happened when the ventilation system kicked on. The décor is a rustic feel and dimly lit. We arrived just before the rush but had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated. I thought that was odd as I could see many empty tables. We were seated in the smaller addition. The booth was extremely uncomfortable. The seats were pushed rather far from the table. We had to sit on the edge of seat to eat properly giving us backaches. It was so bad that we were feeling impatient waiting for the check as we wanted to finally get up an stand. Anyway, once seated and given a menu, I was surprised by the prices! It seemed rather expensive for the food and atmosphere. Since so many have raved about this place I expected the high prices meant the food would be outstanding. I ordered the sirloin steak for one while my son ordered a Philly steak. The bread basket is nothing impressive. Sliced white bread warmed and was tasteless along with crackers that are probably never eaten and recycled to every table. The salad was unimpressive, lettuce and onions. My steak arrived and it was a slab of meat with smaller pieces connected by fat. The smaller parts of the meat were quite bloody but the larger piece was well done. It was rather thin and tasteless. I did ask for steak sauce and ketchup, by the time the waitress brought it I was half way done with the steak. Aside from that she seemed attentive refilling our drinks often. The baked potato with my steak was quite small. When we left, the rush was in full swing. Both rooms that are set to be waiting areas were completely filled with people waiting for tables. I drive by this place often and every weekend its packed. The only reasoning I can come up with, on why this place is so popular is, I noticed almost every single person dining there was drinking something from the bar. Even the people waiting all had drinks in their hands. Since this part of Granger doesnt have too much going on, maybe this place is the go to for getting your drink on with a short drive home. ???

Average. That pretty much sums up Eddie’s Steak Shed. We’ve actually lived in this area for years, and probably drive past the place a few times a week, but have never bothered to try it until tonight just for the sake of trying something different. Inside, it’s your typical local independent restaurant. Lots of odds and ends for decorations, and it does have somewhat of a rustic old steakhouse feel. Some people like it, some people don’t, but I don’t get hung up on décor since it’s the food and service that really matters. Wife and I went with our two young children(under 5). Kids split a chicken finger basket and we split the sirloin for two. Our meal came with soup or salad. The chicken dumpling soup was actually quite good, and it was a perfect portion size for starting the meal. The salad wasn’t much of anything. Mostly the hard white core of iceberg lettuce with a cup of dressing. Now for the steak. Kudos to the cook because it actually came out medium rare as requested. That’s actually surprising since the steak was so incredibly thin. It was a huge slab of sirloin, but I’m not sure it was more than ¾ of an inch thick. As for the flavor, it was underwhelming. For my tastes, severely under seasoned. Both me and the wife needed salt, pepper, and steak sauce. It was certainly a tender steak, and cooked properly, but there was nothing to get excited about when it came to the flavor. Just very average. Finally, the sides. Wife got the green beans, I got the fries. Beans weren’t too bad, but that’s probably because of all the bacon. Otherwise they were just canned beans. And the fries, I’m not sure how this is possible, but they came to the table piping hot, but were limp and flimsy. All in all, with a steak for two meal, kids meal, side of mushrooms for the steak, two bar drinks, and tip, it was $ 75. That’s a lot of money for something that left us underwhelmed.

This place was recommended to me by a co-worker who has, obviously, never had good steak. We went late on a Saturday night and had no wait. The atmosphere was fine(if a little cramped), our server was nice, and the prices seemed reasonable. I ordered the prime rib with red potatoes. The prime rib was MORETHAN50% fat. Also, it was tasteless. The potatoes were okay, but they were under-seasoned. I hate that I drove so far from my hotel, and sacrificed 2 hours of time that I could have used for work to eat mediocre meat.
