Monday, May 2nd, 2016. 11:50 a.m. Pizza Hut lunch buffet. My last review here was in 2014, and my how things have changed. After walking at the Granite Falls Rec. Center, I stopped by the local Pizza Hut for their lunch buffet. I had to wait a few minutes to be seated, in a basically empty restaurant, which always irks me just a little. The pizza on the buffet, what little there was of it, was all cold and lifeless. It had obviously been sitting out since 11:30 or before. There were two little slices of cold thin crust pepperoni and one slice of pan pizza. The rest of the trays were basically empty. The first rule of a pizza buffet, actually any buffet for that matter, is to keep it stocked with food. THEREASONTHAT I’M UPDATINGTHISREVIEW… is because no pizza was put out on the buffet from 11:50 until I got up to leave at 12:30 p.m. Not ONE slice. This is totally unacceptable. The«manager» on duty was trying to prep pizzas, stock the food bins in the kitchen, AND run the cash register. She was doing a half-a**** job of everything. My server, Catherine Starnes, was excellent. I have no qualms with the service whatsoever. I couldn’t ask for better. I also enjoyed their salad bar, which was reasonably well stocked. They should also be praised for their sanitation rating of 100.0%, which is outstanding!!! SALADBAR — OLDGUYTIP I now prepare my salad WITHOUT lettuce. I make broccoli florets and cucumbers the base. I find it to be a healthier and more delicious salad. No lettuce = no gas. No spinach = no possibility of salmonella poisoning. Give it a try next time. HELPWANTED! I counted seven diners in the restaurant at 12:15 p.m., and based on today’s restaurant performance — I can see why there is such a low turnout. If I were a server, earning my living off of tips, I would raise **** at the lack of food on the buffet and the lack of customers. But that’s just me… I don’t «do» pizza buffets very often due to the salt and fat content, but when I do have another Pizza Hut pizza buffet craving, I’m going to the Pizza Hut off Clement Blvd. in Hickory. That place has their act together. Granite Falls clearly does not.
