I recently moved from So Cal to Nevada County and I’ve bought a home that has me making regular trips to B & C. I’m giving four stars because the prices are a little high, but here we are captive buyers and that gives B & C an upper hand. That being said B&C has WAYNE! He has been so knowlegable and helpful to me on multiple occasions. He is able to explain different solutions to a challenge I may be having and takes me to the product necessary for the solution and stays to answer questions and dicuss other options. When I’m paying a little extra it doesn’t seem to hit as hard when I consider that I’m getting the advice and knowledge of an associate such as Wayne. Next time you’re at B&C find Wayne and say hi for me.

The last time I went to b&c I talked to a wonderfully helpful employee. (I don’t think I’ve ever gone into b&c without at least one person asking if I needed help finding something, but I usually don’t take them up on it.) I had a half baked plan for a bookshelf and the guy I talked to in the lumber department was very supportive and cool. He helped me figure out what I was doing and find everything I needed, all without making me feel like a dumbo.

I have always received superior customer service at B & C. The staff has been incredibly helpful during every hair-brained home project I’ve gotten myself into. Last summer I brought in a magazine clipping and asked about drip irrigation. Most folks would just roll their eyes and go back to stocking shelves. Not at B & C. I was presented with several options and given lots of know-how. I had a drip irrigation system in place that afternoon. And that’s just one example. I could tell at least four stories like that one. In lumber. In garden. In paint. Because the staff is so helpful, there has been a couple times when I’ve had to practice patience and wait my turn. It was always worth it.

Good little hardware store. Came looking for shower heads, and they had a good selection. They also had the hard plastic cover sheet we needed for the fluorescent lamps in our kitchen (which we couldn’t find elsewhere). Socket covers were $ 0.29 each. They have a nursery which we did not visit, a pretty good BBQ selection, and some fun stuff too (neat hammocks for example). Worth checking out if you have a hardware or outdoor need.

Been here a few times usually to pick up construction material for projects @ my Dads cabin in Nevada City friendly & helpful staff… They’ve got great hours 730 – 6 Mon-Sun & their prices are just right so check it out see what u think…

Place is a joke, as a Gen Contractor I usually stay away from this place, I have usually gotten into arguments with the people who work there, mostly because they are unfriendly and try to act as if they know what they are talking about. The girl that works at the lumber counter is a super B. Its good for old grannies to go there, but for anyone serious or needing help, go elsewhere

If you are looking for good service please look else where. I have gone in there and knowing I looked completely lost and forlorn and never once did anyone ask to help me. I have even hunted down service people and had them just tell me they couldnt help me and turn around and leave. I would go to Hills Flat.
