Casa Las Katarinas

Facilities were nice, service was superb, like a restraunt much more expensive. Very tasty Mexican food with generous portions, price was moderate, especially considering the atmosphere and service. Great dining experience, will be coming back as a regular customer!

Me and the wife show up about 8 pm thurs and there was 5 tables seated .
all were eating but 1. they took our order .1 veg burrito to split …
within 5 mins the other table was served. all were eating .
our food came 25 mins later. quite a wait if you happen to be seated next to a waitress
counter and this one waitress would not stop talking really loud. the whole time
an hour of it… like 7 feet away. LOUD in spanish !!! no music… no pics on the walls
no decorations … quite cold and strange … food was good but the rest was not worth it …
get the food to order. with an hour wait at least. we felt like it was really strange
with all the hats they wear then why are the workers hanging out and gossiping
where people eat their food ?? really ?? the burrito was 11 $ well for that price
they should get the help to be more mindful of costumers.

This is the real deal. And everything is so fresh. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Reasonable prices. Muy bueno!

The best Mexican Food in the Grass Valley/​Nevada City area, FINALLY!

I enjoy their new location. The staff is so friendly. The food is yummy. It is so nice to have dinner there.

Excellent food and service. Not the pedestrian Mexican food most places serve. Every entrée has its own unique flavor. Highly recommended!

We recently moved nearby from San Francisco. We are HUGE FANS of Mexican food. This restaurant did not disappoint! From the warm greeting at the door to the little candy on the bill, it was close to perfect. They turned off the a/​c for me – who does that! We enjoyed their not-​quite-​tequila margaritas (they do provide a buzz), excellent guacamole with warm thin chips. I had Enchiladas Suizas, my husband the Carnitas (carnitas is our favorite thing), and the Sopapillas (OMG!) German took very good care of us. The focus here is on the food – no noisy bar scene. Lots of parking. Thank you for a wonderful «early bird dinner» (10% off the bill Monday and Wednesday between 3 and 5 p.m.) We plan to be «regular customers.»

I looked up the hours on Unilocal,drove a half an hour to get there and they were closed 10 minutes before the posted time. No it’s too late to go anywhere else so no dinner tonight… :-(

They are one of the few restaurants in my neck of the woods that offer a vegan selection and not only does Casa Las Katarinas offer a vegan menu it is truly delicious. And, not only is the selection of vegan options excellent, the staff and chef are extremely accommodating. I eat here at least once a week. Love this place!!!

Great authentic delicious food perfect service only complaint is their hours. Only open for dinner. If it’s open I highly recommend it

Great food and excellent service! The wait staff was amazing, and the Carnitas enchiladas were the best I’ve had in a long time. The salsa seemed a bit sweet, almost like something you’d get in a jar, but I think they try to accommodate for the elderly folks who make the majority of their customers.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant! Staff is friendly and food is excellent. I’ve been there several times now and each time try something different and all have been good. Suggest carnitas or chile verde but probably everything I haven’t tried is good too.

The menu is authentic Mexican. It is designed by Delia, a Mexico City native who received her culinary training in the Mexican capital, and more recently, the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena. Many of the recipes are from her mom’s kitchen, with Delia’s own touch. «My passion is cooking,» she says. «I’ve been cooking since I was 14 years old.»

It was alright. The food was pretty good. The service was good. But the onion situation… Don’t get me wrong, I like onions. And when the waitress told me the steak burriot comes with onions, I was cool with that. What she should have said was that there was an entire onion in that sucker. I gave it an honest try but that was over the top with the onions. Seriously, so many onions!

If you eat in you are fine. Good service and good food. Take out service is very poor. We were so excited when they opened because we live less than five minutes away. They tell us when it will be ready then have to wait when you show up any where from ten to thirty minutes and when I get home the food is barely warm at best. Really a disappointment!

Was very pleasantly surprised. Walked in to order to-​go, the gentleman that greeted us was very nice. The interior was very clean and put together nicely. I ordered a shredded beef burrito covered in red sauce and my bf got the beef enchiladas. The burrito was huge! Very yummy and my bf enjoyed the enchiladas. They even packed chips and salsa for us without us having to ask. The salsa was very fresh tasting and delicious. They lost a star because my bag was filled with sauce when I got home and I agree with a fellow Unilocal review that mentioned they should have music; it’s awkwardly quiet in there. Also they were a little expensive, but again my burrito was very large and I probably could have shared it with my bf. Definitely recommend trying.

I really wish someone in Nevada County would call the owner of the NEW MECCA in Pittsburg CA and get the REAL recipes for AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD.
I was excited and hopeful because it’s close to our house, and I’m not a fan of Maria’s. Servers had paper name tags, seemed as though they were «unsure» of their place there. Place was not busy. It was a Thursday night about a month ago. Just my hubby, myself and our daughter.
Drinks came quickly, chips seemed stale and food was ok. My chicken taco salad looked as though it was a child’s portion and lacked flavor. My husband ordered cheese enchiladas yet one came with meat, possibly chicken? For the price of my taco salad and the portion size I think it was ridiculous. Waitress checked on our table once during meal, that’s it.
I’m not sure Nevada County will ever have a true authentic Mexican food restaurant unless the NEW MECCA opens another location which I doubt!

This is a reincarnation of the Nevada City store, I dare say the food is better. I had the beef chili Colorado and it was very good. In fact it was very very good. In a wasteland of shitty, rip off food all around the area, I was impressed and pleased to find that the flavors were very well blended and the meal was delicious. I know that is a generic review, but it’s actually been a while since I have had any genuinely good food around here and I want to say that somebody back in that kitchen really has it going on. Also the place was packed. It’s a new store so I am leery of the future. All to often I see a place open with sparkle and next thing you know they get fat and lazy on their accolades and they go to shit. I have a feeling that this will not happen here. The owners are very well practiced and are off to a good start. It was a real treat. Nicely Done to «Las K»

We are here at 10:15 AM on Sunday for brunch. Hours online say 10:00. Not a sole around. No one answers the phone. No workers, no nothing. Better call first!

Had 2 fish tacos. Outstanding. Beans and rice were wonderful. Recommend to everybody!

The food is so fresh and delicious. The service was great. It’s a really comfortable atmosphere.
I’m having brunch today, Saturday, but I’ve also had the incredible sopes and enchilada suizas. My husband had chile verde and carne asada. The flan is creamy and perfect density. Enjoyed everything!
