I do not understand how this place won KCRA’s Best Winery 6 years in a row. Perhaps the key is to not visit the winery on a Sunday afternoon. I arrived that the winery at 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. My purpose of visiting the winery was to purchase several cases of wine for my holiday party and based on recommendations of my co-workers, I was interested in some of the reserve wines. When I arrived at the winery, the server informed me that I could do the reserve tasting for $ 15 which would be waived if I purchased the wine. As I was looking to purchase several cases, I agreed. After tasting to of Naggiar’s reserve wines, I was then informed that was all the server could pour for the day. I asked why, as the tasting notes in the tasting room say you get to try 5 wines for $ 15, and the server indicated that she was not going to open any more bottles. I informed her that I drove 45 minutes to purchase several cases of wine for my holiday party, and the server coldly walked away. Finally, when I asked about some of the reserve wines, the server apparently got the varietals mixed up as the information she provided me is different that the information I found on Naggiar’s website today. In the end, instead of spending $ 500 on two cases of wine, I spent $ 42 on one bottle of wine as I was still going to be charged the $ 15 tasting fee(even though I was unable to taste the wines as advertised). As I was leaving, the server asked if I wanted to join the wine club and I just laughed. However, some good did come of the day. As I still needed wine for my party, I stopped at a Rocklin winery on my way home. That winery had twice as many patrons as it was Placer County’s Holiday in the Hills celebration, but the owners took the time to answer my questions about the wine. Plus, they allowed me to taste wine that was not on the tasting list for the day. Instead of 2 cases for $ 500, I was able to get 4 cases for $ 500.

This place was great! The drive is a little intense, but well worth it. Came here with a groupon deal for wine tasting for two and a bistro plate. The antipasto plate was really good, plenty for two people. The wine tasting included their 5 complimentary wines plus two of their reserve wines. Great deal for around $ 15. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice selection of wines to taste and foods to purchase(or bring your own picnic) after a leisurely drive along a country road in a beautiful outdoor setting across from Lake of the Pines. Look for the bison. Their evening events and wine pick-up celebrations are perfect for meeting up with friends in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. We like it so much we became Root 49 members and thereby enjoy their higher-end wines regularly without the drive. Always order our gift wines through them online.

My husband and I were in the area for our honeymoon, and decided to check this place out. It was a beautiful drive leading into it, and a really peaceful area. We went on a Friday afternoon, and Krista gave us a wonderful tasting experience. We got many complimentary pours and a lot of great information from her about each wine. She was so friendly and welcoming. Really great experience.

This is a pleasant place to visit with covered seating. The antipasto place is delicious and plenty to share. It was a fun drive to find the winery, so make sure to map it out because cell service is scarce to nil.

This place is amazing in every sense of the word. Quiet outdoors atmosphere, complimentary wine, 20% off wine purchase if you check-in, etc. Concerts are Friday’s and Saturdays. The staff is great, they are more than happy to answer all questions. All in all a great experience.

I’m an East Coast resident who recently visited the Northern California, Sierra foothill wine region. I was impressed with the excellence of wines being created in this burgeoning area. However, after visiting and tasting my way through numerous wineries, I happened upon one which stood out above all others. Naggiar Vineyards was the literal«Crown Jewel» of the foothill region. The drive to the tasting took us through the rural countryside of Nevada County. The journey was relaxing and picturesque with rolling oak covered hills, creeks and wildlife. When I arrived at the vineyard, I found it to be the most distinguished in the entire region. The tasting room rests on a hilltop framed by views one would only expect to see in the Napa Valley. We ate lunch on the well-appointed outside court and found ourselves surprised by the depth of their menu. I highly recommend the flat bread and pork loin sandwich. After tasting the Cabernet Franc and Mourvedre we decided to order a bottle of each. Naggiar Vinyards clearly crafts both varietals remarkably well. After dining in the«perfect» weather we took a stroll around the lake and grounds. Looking back at the experience, I rate Naggiar Vinyards as a solid five star experience.

Horrible service, waited about an hour for our entrée and another hour for a small plate of chocolate for desserts. You would expect the staff and kitchen to be prepared and better organized for a mother day event, that was not the case. The food was subpar, nothing to write home about considering you are paying $ 15 a plate. Unless you order a lot you will leave hungry. From a lack of reservations, making it so you have to either sneak seats or rush a table when you see one open, to the lack of chairs, and shortage of staff for the amount of people present. If you come on a day when you know nobody else will be there then I can assume they will treat the customer correctly but when overwhelmed expect to wait a LONG time. Never coming back.

Have been here multiple times and every time it’s been fantastic. I’ve been served by Michelle, Mary and Krista and all have been wonderful and knowledgable about their estate bottled and grown wine. I would most definitely recommend this place is worth a visit. Also they have great sustainable practices and permacultural principles. Go now!

Hands down, the best wine selection in the region. The tasting room is beautiful and the gift selection is very reasonably priced. Wine club pick ups are a special event that we don’t often miss.

My wife and I and another couple had the good fortune to visit on one of the most perfect days possible(sunny, temp around 68). That meant we could extend our visit with some unhurried time on the patio, overlooking the pond. The tasting room is lovely, the people very nice and welcoming, the wines excellent(certainly to my tastes), the variety available to taste very good, and appetizer plates tasty. I cannot think of any way that the visit could have been better. To get there requires a several mile drive along small roads. Drive slowly, especially the last mile or so(dirt road: they don’t want drivers kicking up dust, for good reason). Easy to find, though, notwithstanding. Folks living in or near the Sierra Foothills, or visiting the area, have a LOT of very nice wineries to choose from. Naggiar should rate high on the list, in my opinion. By the way, the wine club(«Root 49») was something I could not resist, so I signed up on the spot(which also got a tidy instant discount on that day’s purchases).

My wife and I drove up to this winery yesterday 7÷28÷13. The drive from Yuba City was a little difficult but in the end we were truly rewarded! The two ladies that were doing the wine tasting(Kim and Katherine) are knowledgeable and very friendly. The setting is beautiful and the wines are excellent. The jewel here is the new chef that is truly in harmony with the rest of the experience. Fresh ingredients assembled with balance and love. Take your time with whatever you choose from the offerings, savor the flavors and enjoy a special experience. R&C Ramirez

I should start by saying that I love wine tasting. I love exploring new places, and going out of my way to find good bottles. I don’t have the most discerning palate, but I do what I can. From what I’ve learned, there are two basic types of wineries. Some focus on a beautiful setting — having a flashy tasting room, putting rusticated-looking brass on things, selling shirts that say things with rhinestones. The second focuses on the wines, while the glitz goes by the wayside. Naggiar is definitely the former. I’m not trying to condemn them for having a nice tasting room — it is a nice area, they have inside and outside seating, and a nice view. What I wasn’t a fan of were the wines themselves. Almost all of the whites tasted identical. The reds were only slightly more differentiated. I wasn’t too surprised to learn that most of the grapes the vineyard produces are sold to other wineries, but I was surprised when I learned the winemaker is in Sonoma. If you’ve never gone wine tasting, or visited many wineries, this is probably the place for you. The tasting room is nice, the vineyards are pretty. Heck, they have a fountain. If you’re looking for a place that focuses on wine, instead of mass quantity and plush surroundings, keep looking.

Yay what a fun winery experience! We had a nice evening tonight. We first tasted complimentary wine tasting then enjoyed some kick ass music until 9 p.m. for the summer concert series on the grass outside of the tasting room. Nothing better than good wine and good music, and both were GOOD! The service was great as well, we will go back for sure! And a shout out to Kathy for her excellent attentive service, thanks for making our first visit so special!!!
