U-Haul

Typical U Haul rental place. Not a great experience renting with them, but not terrible. I was able to get the rental I wanted calling in on the same day (Friday, 15 ft truck with a ramp) that I needed the truck. The truck cab was only kind of clean.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!

We rented a trailer from Orland to Grass Valley. After the contract was signed and the Orland office closed, we received a text message to return the trailer to Auburn which was not the destination. So I called and straightened it out at UHauls 800 number and received a confirmation text to return to 1150 East Main. When we got there the person in charge said he couldn’t take the trailer, and we had to take it somewhere else off of Rough and Ready Highway. I explained our contract stated Grass Valley, as well as, the confirming text message and we were not taking it anywhere else. He then threatened not to check it in and continue to charge us so we had to stop payment on our bank card as a result. Furthermore, he didn’t help up detach the trailer, my husband and I had to do it ourselves. We took pictures of him standing by watching us and having to block the trailer and insert a block of wood with a crow bar underneath the hitch to get the trailer off the truck ball, because my husband couldn’t lift it by himself. NEVER AGAIN will we rent from UHaul or patronize that business at 1150 East Main… we will only rent from Golden Green from now on…

Do not rent from this place!!! The lights in the truck didn’t work. Couldn’t move in one trip. Had to have help come back the next day! Told them when truck was returned today, and the guy had the nerve to insist the lights were working! No apologies or offer of credit. Contacting UHaul main office and making huge stink. I should have read the last Unilocal review. Never dealt with a worse UHaul franchise! Thumbs down. One star at best, and that’s generous.

I wouldn’t rent from this business again. We rented a truck from them, which was not particularly clean but not particularly dirty (typical uhaul, no problems with this). We dropped off after hours having broom cleaned the cab and back. The next morning we received a call at 7:45 am stating that our truck had not be cleaned and they wanted to charge us a 50 dollar cleaning fee. A little annoying, but we went down there to wash it to avoid the fee. After my husband spent about a half hour cleaning the inside he came back with a truck that was cleaner then when we picked up. The owner told us «it isn’t clean enough» and then started to complain we scratched the sides. We pointed out that the truck was already scratched and had patches, to which the owner responded «I know every scratch on that truck and I can personally tell you that there are new scratches.» I am sorry, but I find this hard to believe since they have many uhauls that are rented regularly and it would be impossible to know every single scratch on each vechicle… nevermind the fact that we did not hit or scrape anything. We also had bought extra insurance so this should have not been an issue even if we did cause such scratches, which we did not. I got the impression that this is something they try to do with their customers to get extra money from them. There is another Uhaul rental place in town, I recommend using them.
