A-1 Shower Door & Mirror

We had A-​1 replace a shower door bought 10 years ago at a big box store. When the old shower door was removed from the white cultured marble shower, there were obvious yellowed discolorations in the «marble» on the thresh hold and on sides of the shower where the metal strips were from the old shower door. The cultured marble material had become discolored — it was not a build up on the surface and we could not get rid of the yellow, dirty looking areas. And… the ‘hardware’ for the new door was not wide enough to cover the discolored areas. The installation guys, Ryan and his helper, Moses, stopped
the installation when they saw the problem because they knew we would not be happy with it. They consulted with the team at the company and came up with a perfect solution. At the shop, Ryan crafted chrome strips that match the metal on the new door to apply to the inside edges to cover the yellow stains. Once they came up with a solution, they called and told us their plan and scheduled a time to return and do the installation. They came up with a flawless solution to a problem that had nothing to do with A1 — but they sure figured out a way to solve it that looks great. Also they showed up on time and were great to deal with. We know good service and a well run business when we deal with one! A-​1 is our go-​to shower door company from now on.

We are in the process of remodeling our 1985ish house and with the help of A-​1 Shower Door, we now have two new shower enclosures with shower doors that are stunningly beautiful and operate perfectly. We could not be more pleased with A-1’s knowledge, craftsmanship, service, and timeliness. We have also had the double pleasure of hiring them (Millhouse Glass) to provide all of our new windows. This is a quality company that completes high quality work. I am quite baffled by Richard M’s review from 2 years ago. I am very confident to recommend A-​1 and Millhouse Glass. They’re great to work with.

I will admit that my contractor told me that a frameless shower stall might possibly leak. Having said that, my issue with A-​1 shower was their entire approach to my installation. Our installation was a small shower. The initial installation did not have any stripping on the door or on the curb. In addition the screw securing one of the brackets was driven into the grout line and not sealed. The overall result was SIGNIFICANT leaking. When pressed by my contractor they grudgingly and belatedly came back and installed the door and curb strip. They failed to diagnose the issue with the lack of sealing of the bracket/​screw in the grout line. They charged my contractor $ 150 for this return visit which was so immediately following the installation that it should have been considered a warranty item. In the end my contractor sealed the bracket. The result was less leakage. My issue is that A-​1 should be the experts in measures to prevent leakage and should be willing to back up their work. My advice, avoid the company.
