I grew up coming to Hanson Hills for skiing, and now as a parent 30 years later my husband and I brought our son here for the playground. It’s a very nice playset – the only issue being it’s all on sand instead of the rubber mats or mulch which makes for a bit of a dirty mess. But I’d definitely recommend it if you want your kids to burn some energy.

This review is for Hanson Hills — Winter fun in Northern Michigan! With a recommendation from my dad, we headed to Hanson Hills to go tubing. I haven’t tubed in about 15 years and I’ve never paid to do it so I wasn’t sure what to expect. First, thank you Hanson Hills Winter Sports Park for not trying to say that you are a «mountain.» I know how some places in these parts try to claim that and I’m glad you were honest with your hill-ness. Hanson Hills has downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing. The day we went, they were having a ski jump contest with kids. It was pretty entertaining to watch as we waited for our allotted time slot to tube(you can call and make a reservation but we couldn’t get cell service). There are no lifts for skiing, just tow ropes. Tubing is $ 9 for 1.5 hours. They hook a strap on your tube to a tow rope to get you up the hill. Yes, no more having to walk up a hill! The tubing hill was in good condition and I didn’t realize how fast you go. I didn’t see anyone wipe out but if you did, it would probably hurt a bit. I saw some adults go down with little kids on their laps but I wouldn’t recommend this. It was a fun and I definitely recommend tubing here!
