This is a terrific local shop, with great people and an amazing selection. The owner and her staff are some of the kindest people I have met since moving to Illinois 20+ years ago. Quilt Play also has some really neat customers — it’s a pretty enjoyable place to be. Unfortunately, not all customers are nice, plain and simple. I recommend readers keep this in mind when reading reviews written by irate customers who claim they«suffered» while picking up FREE patterns via shop hops, row-by-rows, etc. I witnessed reviewer Carrie S. leave the shop today(furious and swearing) while I sat outside with my young daughter(who was sewing using fabric from Quilt Play). This customer’s words and actions certainly got my attention, including an exaggerated exit by gunning her car in a crowded parking lot. If there was someone who was going to write a spiteful review, this was it. Please disregard her rant and visit this spirited, creative shop for yourself.

AKA Shoo Fly Quilts. This is the quaintest, cutest, most adorable fabric shop I’ve ever encountered. Some really beautiful and unique prints and fabrics can be found in a cottage-house styled shop. The only thing more impressive is the level of service I received. Turns out they didn’t have the type of fabric I needed, but the friendly and knowledgeable clerk took time to school me in what I was looking for, how much I would need to complete my project, and at what stores I could find it. This level of customer service is quite rare, no exaggeration. It makes shopping here a real pleasure and I am looking forward to many future craft projects just so I can find a way to utilize the many fresh and modern prints at this most charming shop. :)
