This place recently changed its name to wild ginger. Same owners, chefs, etc They gave it a much needed upgrade because it was gross all round. Well, they failed. Food was below average yet priced higher than the old menu. Such a bummer. Thought we finally had good Chinese food in great falls, only to be tricked into the same old blah.

Wife and I decided to try this restaurant again earlier this year, after avoiding it for many years due to a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, the disappointment continues. We were the only diners that night, yet the staff gave us minimal attention while talking among themselves or studying a cell phone only a few feet away. The entrees were overly sweet and bland. The lemon chicken soggy. Perhaps we hit on an off night in the kitchen, as we have friends who say they enjoy the carry-out. But the food was only part of the disappointment. The furnishings are dingy and dated, the carpet threadbare, and the men’s room in need of service. Overall impression is that the current owners are either disinterested or distracted, and the restaurant is suffering severely for it. Too many other good options in Great Falls to settle for that.

This restaurant has always produced quality food since the 1990’s. I ate here as a kid all the time. I hope the taste has not changed much. From the reviews it looks like the original owner(s) may have passed — an old man and women used to run the show back in the day. — the food used to be reallyyyyy good) Egg drop soup, steamed dumplings, Kung pau chicken, shrimp fried rice would be my top recommended go to’s.

I ordered to go twice and ate once in this restaurant, and I had a mixed experience. The mixed experience comes from the fact that they have really poor customer service, and often I was more pleased ordering to go rather than eating in the restaurant, but the quality of good is worth a word or two. The quality of service, as perhaps highlighted in other reviews, is terrible. I was there a few days ago where I was the only one in the restaurant and it took the waitress more than 20 minutes to get us the first appetizer. Things didn’t get better. It takes forever to get anything in the table, and once it’s on the table you’ll have to deal with its quality. For the quality of the food, it’s mixed too. Their konpao chicken is chewy, which is odd. Their jumbo shrimps are hardly jumbo, and they come ice cold. Their vegetables lo-mien has no vegetables, and is very greasy. Of the few good thing they have is the fried rice if you take it with shrimp.

Not impressed ATALL. Decided to explore a new Chinese restaurant and have to say, we were very disappointed on all counts. We ordered one appetizer, a soup, and an entrée, and then sat and waited for over 10 minutes. When the appetizer arrived, is was luke warm and gummy. Then the soup arrived 5 minutes later in a pint sized bowl where two wontons barely fit. The taste was more bland than you would expect. We then waited another 10 minutes for the entrée. The chicken was dry and chewy and the sauce was a color and consistency best described as an orange gelatinous silly putty that was spread over the chicken. The entrée was also warm rather than hot. The total bill came to $ 30 which we considered expensive for what we received, however, the real kicker was the service. When we left some of our appetizer on the plate, the waitress harangued us for not finishing our food rather than asking why we hadn’t finished. She also approached to table to pour water and clear our plates while chatting on her cell phone. I’ve never seen this done by a waitress before and will certainly not return to Peking Delight to see it again.

Went here for lunch on a friends recommendation, and I have to say it was the best Chinese food I’ve had in Northern VA! We had dumplings, mu shu pork, gen tso’s chx, and Mongolian beef and it was all delicious. The service was on point as well. Highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Great Falls!

Since I live close by this restaurant is my guilty pleasure as I go there quite often now. It is not your cheap Chinese takeout and prices are a little higher but I guess that’s Great Falls. The lunch specials are not expensive and come in a decent quantity with soup and a freshly made, piping hot spring roll. They seem to have a lot of take out customers as I see bags near the front desk all the time. The décor is old and outdated and expect the place to be empty most of the time. The food is quite good and the service is prompt. Don’t take your date there but take the good food home and enjoy!

Decent, nothing special. I wish they have a section on the menu with healthy choices because none of the other peer restaurants in town have this. Being Asian, there are so many options for healthy food, and yet when I order from Peking I always have to chat with the person on the phone explaining what I’m looking for — basically low oil, low fat, etc.

Fast fresh and high quality food. A bit more expensive than most but this is not fast food quality. Large portions and always delivered piping hot. Highly recommend!

When you see a trend of negative reviews, I hope you’ll realize this is not a good restaurant to go to. Management/ownership is HORRIBLE and not at all customer-centric in Great Falls. It is my hope you’ll read this review and heed my advice to stay clear of this place, which has too many bad business practices for me to type about. There may be those who disagree, but let me sum it up this way… If you were considering going here, and asked my opinion, I would likely treat you to a GOOD meal at one of the many FINE restaurants in Great Falls. I simply won’t recommend this restaurant to anyone so long as the current management continues to run it so poorly. It’s even worth waiting longer for delivery from a chines restaurant that is farther away…

I was scared of this place from previous reviews, but decided to try it anyways. My first try was Not bad, but not amazing. The Kung pow chicken was flavorful but the chicken was fatty and chewy. Would have been great w white meat. The lo mein was ok as were the string beans. I’ve gotten it twice more since and have been very happy with the food. The inside needs to be updated but we’ll be getting delivery here a lot more often!

«The waitress was nice but the food was not very good. I ordered the chicken and broccoli which arrived in a clear-white sauce. Not sure what that was it tasted alright but couldn’t seem to get past it’s appearance and slimy texture. Make sure u ask for brown sauce… It also kinda weirded me out that they brought the food out in five minutes. Made me wonder if it wasn’t sitting back in the kitchen then thrown in a microwave or quickly reheated.

Take out tonight was great. Fresh crunchy shrimp and all dishes well prepared. This place has been criticized in past, but am impressed.

As one of the few places to deliver in the area, they get a lot of our business. The things we’ve tried on the menu have been good to very good. The hunan beef is spicy and tender. The yushan chicken is great too. We used to live by Cheng’s in Sterling, and I don’t feel we’ve had to compromise in our neighborhood Chinese options at all. I am surpirsed there are not more better reviews.

A year later and nothing has changed … We had some hunan chicken and beef broccoli. The texture of the meat was very soft and I thought it might have been marinated to long. Overall I found the food and service below average.

After years, of avoiding this place from prior bad service and the food being nothing special, I decided to give it a shot, since they delivered and heard that the owner may have changed. I hate to give this place one star, but the fact is that it just isn’t worth the money to eat here. It is pricey for Chinese food. I have no problem paying top dollar for something that is worth it, but the food is nothing special. $ 10.95 for chicken fried rice, with frozen peas and carrots. Please. There are plenty of other Chinese places to go that are either cheaper or better quality food. For my family I ordered Moo-Shu Pork, Chicken Fried Rice, and Beef with mixed vegetables. I ended up paying $ 47.05 including a nice tip, for this meal. I realized I should have just gone to Reston and ordered at Mandarin. It would have been no more then $ 26 for the same thing, and would have been a bigger portion. I would only eat here, if you are dying for Chinese food and willing to pay extra for it. Perhaps, you don’t feel like leaving your house like I did. But be aware, that you may be angry that you paid that much for something that is clearly not worth it.

This place recently changed management. I had not dined her since the mid 90s. Back then it was tasty enough. I specifically remember the potstickers. Mmmm… So my parent’s got us a gift card for here some time ago. We thought we’d try it last night with my parents in tow. We ordered shrimp toast, potstickers, and crab rangoons as apps. They came out in about 5 mins. The shrimp toast was dripping with grease — litterally! In biting into it, we discovered the center was still frozen. Sent back for another try. Better, but still dripping with oil and not worth the calories by any means. The potstickers were a joke. Obviously store bought frozen kind. Rubbery outside, and an un-appetizing filling. Crab rangoons were passable. Entrees were a bit better. I had drunken noodle(they now have a thai section of the menu). It was OK. Not bad — but not great. My hubby and dad had crispy shredded beef. It was OK, but again, really, really greasy. My mom had schezuan shrimp. I didn’t try it, but she said it was OK. Servers were nice enough, but not very good. The place itself is in terrible shape. It seems they are remodeling, but during dinner, they had contractors in and out and construction dust everywhere. The place looks and smells dingy. Maybe once they remodel they’ll start making real food, but for now, avoid at all cost. Sorry. Hate to give bad reviews, but I’m really bummed we didn’t go somewhere else.
