I was craving General tso’s chicken. So looked on Unilocal for something in Reston/sterling area. Nice location, and cozy environment… But besides that, I got some weird looks from the staff and ended up ordering the lunch special. I got a very small portion of GTC(maybe five or six pieces of chicken… Should have taken a picture), charged an extra dollar for fried rice, and no side like an egg roll or soup… I know times are tough and Reston is a bit pricy, but come on! For the price I paid I could have gotten two lunch meals at Golden King in sterling that does not charge extra for fried rice and includes an egg roll. Anyways this might have been an off day, but won’t be coming back here until they up their game.

Great food and even better service! I recently moved to Reston and ordered food from Mama Wok while I was unpacking. I was shocked when the delivery man knocked on my door not even 15 minutes later!

Horrible. I ordered a second time to give them a second chance. No vegetables in the kung pao chicken and hardly any sauce. chicken is mostly grizzle. Same with General Tso chicken which was fried dough around tiny bits of grizzle & hardly any sauce. Mama wok has never included vegetable in my orders. quality of product is poor. grizzle is not chicken.

We bounce from seedy chinese place to seedy chinese place, and are rarely satisfied… the quality of the food is just pretty awful across the board. However, Mama Wok seems to be the exception. We’ve ordered there multiple times, and always gotten excellent service, freakishly fast delivery(JimmyJohns got nothin’ on this) and awesome food. I always get general tsos, because I’m whiter than white bread and have no cultural awareness: P they’re excellent, give ‘em a shot.

We order lunch from here regularly and have never been dissappointed. When you ask them to make a dish spicy, they deliver! Favorites are: Spring Rolls — perfectly done Kung Pao Chicken Beef with Broccoli Moo Shu Pork Pork with Chilies Mongolian Beef General Tao’s Chicken Singapore Noodles Sauteed String Beans Can you tell we eat here a lot? There’s a good reason. Try them. Bet you agree!

I moved to Reston in January. I live within walking distance of Mama Wok and started ordering from them regularly. The food quality was inconsistent. One day would be ok, one day I ordered orange chicken and it was so overcooked that I sent it back and it’s replacement was barely edible. The last straw was when I found a cockroach(very small) in my kung pow chicken. I’m sorry, but the quality is not consistent and for an insect to be chillin in the kung pow like that is just an indicator that they make their food in bulk, let it sit, and the health code is most likely not being upheld here. I used to order from House of Mandarin until a friend recommended this place. The first handful of times I got it, I was blown away by how much better it was than any other Chinese take-out I’ve had. To start off with, it came SUPER fast – like usually within 30 minutes or less, Secondly, the quality of ingredients and flavors just were so much better than the more kind of bland stuff I’d been accustomed to from Chinese take-out. They also deliver sushi which is a plus. The last few times I have gotten it, though, it’s not been as great – for example, I ALWAYS get steamed pork dumplings for an appetizer, and the first few times I had them they were seriously delectable(the dough tasted fresh and not like they had just dumped frozen ones into boiling water like most Chinese places do) but the last few times I had them the dough did not taste as fresh and they were super salty, kind of weird. So, this place I think is kind of hit or miss. I will still go to them over anyone else in Reston but given the inconsistency of deliciousness I can’t give them 5 stars.

Mama Wok is, without a doubt, the worst Chinese restaurant that I’ve ever ordered delivery from in my entire life. I ordered the steamed vegetable dumplings and General Tso’s Chicken. The dumplings were the worst I’ve ever eaten, and the restaurant didn’t even give me enough sauce to dip them in. The General Tso’s Chicken was basically sweet and sour chicken and was NOT traditional General Tso’s Chicken. I spent around $ 26.00 for my order, which was a complete waste of money. If you want good, quality Chinese food, please do not bother with this restaurant. I will NEVER order delivery from or eat at this restaurant ever again.

Absolutely best Chinese local to me that I have tried. Too bad it isn’t the closest one to my house, it would definitely be my takeout place. Great«wok hay» flavor in the chow fun and the pan fried noodles were actually the Hong Kong style. Yum! As an aside, tall oaks shopping center is devoid of other stores and deserted. Go to this place to keep it in business!

I’ve heard such great things about this place for years and never went until yesterday. The restaurant is pretty nice inside and service was quick. My friend and boyfriend always get the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup so I definitely had to try it. I’m so glad I did because it was so delicious! 95% of the time when I get soup, it’s always phở. This soup had some spice in it and was very flavorful. It looked like a regular portion in the bowl but it was so much! It had more noodles and meat than any phở bowl I’ve ever had. It was quite impressive and defintely filled me up. They also put a lot of bok choy in there which I don’t care for so I just gave it to my bf. I can’t wait to go back! I’ll probably try the Combination Noodle Soup next time.

I love ordering lunch from here since its close to work. Sushi rolls are very tiny which I don’t like so I always have to order 2 of them. They do have a minimum of $ 10 for credit card usage which is ok I guess…

Eh, not the best General Tso’s chicken I’ve ever had, and not the worst. Egg roll was greasy as hell though. I went in here for a late lunch. It was empty and there was a server laying out, chillin’ at a nearby table. There was another table that had dirty dishes on it that had been there for awhile, judging by the fact that the place was empty. Will I return? Likely not. The place seemed sketchy.

This is THE worst Chinese lunch meal I have EVER had and biggest waste of $ 10. The shriveled, deep fried beef was drenched in a cherry colored red sauce. The rice was sticky like for sushi.

Yet again, another bad experience with this place. When the food arrived, we discovered they hadn’t brought the white rice. When we called to inform them, they told us it would be 30 minutes for our rice to arrive. Are we expected to wait 30 more minutes to eat while the rest of our food cools? Outrageous. Terrible customer service, and this isn’t the first time items have been missing from our delivery orders.

They delivered to my house, which they were very timely. The food was okay. I had the orange chicken with fried rice and my boyfriend had General Tso and white rice. I have had worse, but then again I have had better. I will say my tummy did not hurt after we ate so that is always a plus.

My sister was craving scallops so my family went here for the first time in a year or two. We were the only patrons in the restaurant at dinnertime that day, which was way less bustling than before. They served it timely enough, but the scallops were hard, not chewy at all. I had never seen my mom return food until she tried those scallops! The new ones weren’t much better, and the manager explained to us that was just the way they tasted, since they were frozen ahead of time. That said, if you stick to the«classics», you’ll get generously portioned and well seasoned fusion food :)

Perhaps it was the chef’s night off. I was really disappointed by the food I picked up on my last visit. Their usually spirited hot and sour soup had almost no taste and seemed watered down. My entrée was bland and greasy, not at all resembling the other times I’ve ordered it. The good news is I became a fan of their sushi bar while waiting for the take-out. I am sure it is difficult to maintain consistency in a kitchen, but this was really a step down in quality, not at all worthy of the bill. I’d recommend dining at the restaurant and enjoying the ambiance. It’s pleasant, parking is right outside, and service is prompt.
