It’s a nice cheap place that’s fast. Boyfriend and I went here and got food for both of us for only 11 dollars. And we got free drinks since we are students and had our Ids on us!

Its my favorite Chinese food place in Greeley(that’s not really saying much with such establishments as, Panda express, Panda buffet, and that other disgusting 1.50 $ scoop place on W 10th). Compared to those horrid options I think a spicy/sweet alternative, to your normal orange chicken disaster, is a great pick for some eggrolls #yum.

If you are a part of Corporate America, you have the distinct pleasure of The Long Conference Call. As luck would have it, this week included 3! Coincidentally, I’ve coined a phrase: Aural Chinese Food. Basically, the concept is that you sit, you listen to what is being said. At the time, it feels good and even filling… but an hour later, nothing. You are empty. So, blame this trip on 3 conference calls. The Aural Chinese Food somehow transformed in my brain for a yearning for some takeout Chinese. Over the years, me and General Tso have gotten down and done our share of hanging together, it is my default order when I get takeout Chinese. So with great expectations, I fired up Unilocal and looked for Chinese takeout close to my digs for the week. Hot Wok Express is what came up as closest, so off I went to retrieve a paper box of my favorite Field Grade Officer. No joy, the General doesn’t live here. Ok, how about some spicy chicken and some spicy pork? Toss in a couple of pork egg rolls and we can call it even. With large drink, the bill came to a grand total of $ 6.12! Bargain! If you are a local student at the Institute of Higher learning, the drink is free. Now for the bad news: It might be the worst $ 6.12 I’ve spent in a long time. The pork and chicken were bland but passable. The egg rolls, though, wow. Almost completely inedible. I had two in my bag, one has recently taken up residence in my hotel garbage receptacle. In retrospect, it is entirely my fault. Here I am in the land of Big Beef, countless options where I can have Copious amounts of Cow lovingly braised and presented on a hot plate and what do I do? Takeout Chinese. Life is a learning experience, so here is what I’ve learned: Keep the conference calls to a minimum and skip takeout Chinese at the Hot Wok.

Opened this week and is strategically located near the Mall and Walmart(in the failed Quizno’s spot). Honestly tho, does the world really need yet another«$ 1.50 a scoop and up» Chinese food joint? Standard fare, nothing exotic or remotely really Chinese about the food offerings, but with courteous staff. I was ready for a quick lazy dinner last night until I walked the steam tables and everything looked so tired, greasy & left over from lunch. Went home empty handed. Since I can’t attest to the taste, I’ll need to be brave some other time. Greeley is actually blessed with several more-than-decent Asian eateries and they would be on my go-to list, first and foremost.
