I once heard that Hunan was one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the US. The bottom line is Hunan is a typical American-​Chinese restaurant — nothing special. I got the slippery chicken, which turned out to be fried chicken pieces tossed in a sweet and tart sticky sauce which seemed to get everywhere. I’ve also had a fish dish which wasn’t anything worth remembering.
Hunan could be a fun experience in Greeley since there are not many Asian restaurants and you want to have a different dining experience, but other than that, meh.

Greater Greeley doesn’t have many Asian residents. Predictably, the Asian food here relflects that lack of critical input.
As a long time afficiando of Chinese cuisine, I was looking forward to trying out the Hunan Imperial, which advertises that it’s the best in the area. It’s NOT.
My first experience there was okay. The honeyed shrimp was adequate. I took some friends there for dinner. They ordered sweet and sour chicken and beef with broccoli. The SS Chicken was cloyingly sweet and the beef with broccoli was flavored with a tart sauce that was unpalatable. My shrimp was lacking in flavor.
I definitely would not recommend the Hunan Imperial, except to someone I disliked.
