I was expecting exceptional food since this establishment is part of the Bartolotta group. However, this was probably some of the most expensive and worst barbecue I have ever had. The brisket was full of fat and not slow cooked. They got the barbecue sauce right but that was it. Complained to one of the employees who said he would pass our comments on to the kitchen. This establishment needs a complete revamp or should be removed from the Bartolotta Group. Horrible!

Not a bad BBQ joint. But if you’re a BBQ snob, it might not be the best you’ve ever had. HOWEVER… I really enjoyed the Baby Baby ribs(see my pic). They were well cooked, smoky, meat-fall-off-the-bone delicious. I like to add extra sauce on my ribs to spice them up but honestly, these were tasty by themselves. We also had the Pulled Pork, which I thought was a little dry. The corn bread was… corn bread. We also shared some collard greens and mashed sweet potatoes. The collard greens weren’t bad and had a slight heat spice to them. The mashed sweet potatoes were REALLY sweet, almost citrusy. My wife really liked them. A little soft and runny for me but not liquidy. And the small cole slaw was good. A very casual, seat yourself place. They will bring your food to you but you pick up your own utensils, sauces, soft drinks, etc. They have beer and wine, as well. Tue & Thu are«Kids eat free» nights(check the website) and Wed are AYCE(all you can eat) fried chicken. We’ll be back to give that a try! I will say that the staff was extremely cheerful, helpful, and overall very pleasant. They really seemed to want to make sure you had everything you need and that you were enjoying the food. This is a good lunch spot or easy, casual dinner. I would rank it 3 stars because while the ribs were really good, the pulled pork was okay and the prices seemed a touch high. I gave it 4 for the staff, who were constantly checking in and keeping the place clean. We’ll be back, though, to give this place a second try. It’s still a decent BBQ.

Truly disappointed in this Bartolotta Restaurant. Ordered the pulled pork entrée. Started eating and questioned myself as to why pulled pork was sliced. Turns out it was the brisket, which I would have never ordered as it is not something I remember ever having. Discussed with the wait person and then was told it was brisket. Said since I already had ate 1⁄3 of it I was not interested in having another plate of food, but would like a sample of the pork to see if I liked the flavor if I decided to return in the future. Got about a tablespoon of pulled pork, which is a good thing as when I went to finish the rest of the brisket… It was all totally fat. Again asked the waitress if this was typical of brisket and was informed yes. So for about $ 15 I got about a ½ cup of pork and beans(canned bushes baked beans would have been better) 1⁄3 cup of coke slaw(KFC has better) and about 3 – 4 oz of edible meat. No, won’t be back. I should have gone to Northpoint for a burger evidently. Should have read the comments before going.

I really want to like this place, great location, looks clean, nice space, and I love BBQ. Unfortunately, my experience was not very good. The staff was decent, but you could tell they looked bored and that reflected in the service. I had the brisket sandwich and the Mac and cheese. The brisket had sub par flavor, cooked ok, but it’s just missing the flavor. The pickles were more like pickled cucumbers, not much of a bite. The sauces they had were just awful, I would rather have brought some Sweet Baby Rays from pick and save. The Mac and cheese was the worst Mac and cheese I have ever had, it lacked cheese, pasta was undercooked, and it had 0 flavor, it was unbelievable… Kraft would have been better. It was hot and it was presented nicely though. The I had a tea for my drink… how can you mess up the tea? It was like water with a hint of tea flavor. I was born and raised in the south so I’m very picky on BBQ, and I want to like this place, but it’s just bad BBQ. Next door the same company owns the Joey Gerrards which is amazing in every way, so I don’t understand why this place is so terrible. This place makes Dickies BBQ look like all stars. I would really like to see then try a different concept in that space because I’m afraid it’s doomed.

You can’t go into this restaurant thinking it is a typical Bartolotta restaurant, because it isn’t. Much more of a casual vibe. The prices are typical of a Bartolotta restaurant, but the price doesn’t match the food quality like many of their other places. The food is decent, but there needs to be bigger portions for the price.

This time the ribs seemed like they were from yesterday, reheated/microwaved. Normally they are awesome, the difference was notable and disappointing. So much so that I had to take a moment to write this.

Judging from how nice the appearance of the place was I thought the food would be better. Had more of a fast food quality to it that I wasn’t expecting. I had the pulled pork which was just okay. Husband had the ribs(dry) with cornbread(super dry!). Probably would not return.

I was driving around looking for a new place to eat and saw Miss Beverly’s Deluxe Barbeque through the snowstorm, deal. Went in(looked like a more Southern version of Dickie’s BBQ) and scanned the menu. Their famous brisket dinner with choice of side(corn bread) called out to me. As I waited, for them to bring it out, I saw and heard the very bluesy feel that they were going for. Lots of classic posters making a collage on the walls and Louis Armstrong played in the background. The food came out relatively quick, but the portions could have easily fit on one tray, instead the meal was spread out on two steel cooking trays(with some wax sheets between the food and tray). I small dish of coleslaw that was the wettest part of the meal. Majority of the slices of brisket were dry(maybe one or two pieces made had some juice left in it). I get the idea of having it rest on a slice of white bread, but the slice was burnt. Now, on to the cornbread, I had hoped to eat it with the brisket thinking that the cornbread would at least be a little moist. Nope. I had to choke it down with a glass of water. Maybe if everything was taken out of the oven 5 minutes sooner or not sitting under a heat lamp, it would have been alright. But my experience left much more to be desired. Don’t call it a meal you’re known for and come up significantly shy of the mark!

It wasn’t what we had expected when we walked into the restaurant. It’s a walk up and order then find a table. Servers bring the food out to you and they bus the tables. I had the pulled chicken sandwich. The quality of the food was up to Bartolatta standards. The quantity of food wasn’t worth what we paid. The décor was casual. Loved the blues genre motif! Would go back again if in the neighborhood.

Placed an online pick-up order at this location today. So I’m mostly reviewing the food and not the service. Ordered a full slab of baby backs with a side of cornbread. And ordered the 2 meat platter: pulled pork and bbq chicken, with a side of Mac n cheese. I have to say the food was tasty. Very smoky flavors on the ribs. Bbq chicken was great as well. Pulled pork had alot of fat trim on it. But otherwise had a savory taste. Cornbread was good as well. The side of Mac n cheese was a small serving I thought, and was ok in taste. Overall I was happy with our order. The location itself was nice, and the server was friendly and helpful.

Miss Beverly’s Deluxe Barbecue Me and the Mrs. were bumming around Greendale and decided to stop in on a whim. We weren’t *starving* hungry, so we decided to share the dinner special: rib tips in house sauce and crispy tots for $ 12.95. The guy taking our order told us they served it at Zoo A La Carte and that it sold out every day. We also got drinks, paid the bill and had a seat. My wife got her soda at the counter, but I had to wait for my beer. The food came out after a short while; I had to ask about my beer. I get it, he was multi tasking(only one working the front), the place was slow. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. It arrived fairly quickly once I brought it to his attention. Apparently, they do more carry out. The server was polite and friendly, so the two stars is for the food. The guy at the counter asked how everything was, and I said eh, it’s o.k. He responded, «excellent». It was a small portion that we shared, but the more I ate, the less I liked. It was over priced average food. Nothing special, no smoke flavor, just spicy sauce. We pretty much expected higher prices at a Bartolotta restaurant, but better food as well. Famous Dave’s has better flavor and value. It may seem a bit harsh to give a low rating after one visit and one item off the menu, but this review is based on the same dish at other restaurants.

Tried this place out on a whim and we were so glad we did. It’s a great casual bbq joint with sauce choices and paper towel rolls on the table(for those bbq messes!) We ordered the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. They were great but the sides were even better. The mac ‘n cheese was amazing. You could tell it was real cheese and not the powdered stuff. The sweet potatoes tasted like candy in a bucket and the cornbread was as good as grandma makes it. A great meal at a great price! We ate until we were stuffed for under $ 30!

The meat has a prominent but clean smokiness. We thought the brisket, both chicken preparations and the corn bread were very good. My greens were very good. Onions OK. We will be back. The menu changed recently and I was disappointed that I could not enjoy the beef ribs.

Tried again; Had the Fried Chicken Bucket and Full Rib Dinner. The sides are not great, not bad. I am done with the bbq, but will repeat the chicken. I will try the breakfast sometime… It looks interesting.

This place was shockingly bad, the fact that this is a Bartoltta restaurant made it worse. I will never go back !

I was going to go to LD’s for smoked ribs and I remembered this place. I was shopping in the area and I would grab some it go. When you pull up and don’t smell smoke in the air there is always a problem. When you are inside and smell no smoke it’s always a problem. I phoned in my order for a ½ rack meal and I thought he asked me what I wanted for sides so I had Mac and greens and he said $ 17.45 when the menu says $ 13.95, when he said sides I thought it came with two. Sides imply more than one and he should have said what side will you have. I explained to him I miss under stood what he asked me and I don’t want the greens. When I finally got home to eat my lunch I looked to see what I had, see my pictures. I already see a problem because there is no smoke ring that authentic smoked meats have. The texture of the meat looked all wrong also, it looks steamed or boiled. See my up close look at the single end of the rib. The meal was a ½ rack of baby back, corn bread, cole slaw, Mac and sauce. I started with the Mac and noticed not much cheese flavor and a little on the bland side. I just made a Vermont cheese Mac with panko at home a week ago that had great cheese flavor so how could this restaurant put out such a poor quality Mac. The corn bread was dry. The slaw was good. The first bite of the ribs I noticed no real smoke flavor and a tomato/cracked pepper glaze. The ribs were tender and moist like they were steamed or boiled and lacked the texture of a true smoked rib. This is not a good example of true wood smoked ribs. The ribs were not awful but they were not what I thought I was getting. My final thoughts is that this is not my idea of good smoked BBQ and It’s a bit pricey for average food. The ribs looked and smelled better than they were.

Had a taste for BBQ so I thought of Miss Beverly’s. We ordered carry out — ½ rack of ribs, pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket sandwich. Sides that we chose– mac and cheese, baked beans and mashed sweet potatoes. The only thing that was great about the meal was the mac and cheese, it was seriously amazing. I would order that again and maybe just that. The ribs, pulled pork and beans were just ok. The beef brisket was just meh. The mashed sweet potatoes were awful. It actually tasted like dish soap had been mixed in. Not good. We also got a Rice Krispie treat and it was very dry. I was disappointed since my previous visit a few months ago was much better. I would love to see this place do well but the meals were just too expensive to be just ok and so inconsistent with the quality of the food from my last visit.

Was excited to see another Bartolotta join on my side of town… but sad it doesn’t live up to the expectations of their other places. Place is cute. Love the casual BBQ joint décor; I just returned from Memphis and it reminds me of places there but nicer/cleaner. Chairs though were freezing. it’s a brisk fall day and it was rough when we first sat down. Can’t imagine how that would feel in winter… brrr! Also there’s 2TV’s to get your sports fix so husband was happy. Prices are kind of high for the casual atmosphere. It’s a order at counter and sit down kind of joint. Husband got the combo w/brisket and pulled pork. Both meats were really dried out. The sauces on the table were cute and all were very good and helped but he was sad to have to coat the meat in sauce to make it edible. As with many other Bartolotta restaurants, vegetarian options are lacking so I have to stick with sides. Had the cole slaw, onion rings, mac n cheese. All were good, but not a great meal. Just didn’t feel like overpaying for a salad minus the meat but I probably should have! Small selection of beers and great variety of bottled soda and fountain drinks. A couple desserts, we didn’t try. Hoping they are still working out the kinks and will improve, place has great potential!

I feel weird writing a negative review for a Bartolotta Restaurant. I usually have wonderful experiences and feel that their food, across the board, is some of the best in Milwaukee. My first visit to Miss Beverly’s Deluxe Barbeque did not live up to that history. I had the Two Meat Combo with Pulled Pork and Brisket. I chose Corn Pudding as my side. The Pork was dry and without much smoke or flavor. It was better when I put the sauce from the table on it, but good BBQ shouldn’t need extra sauce. The Brisket had better flavor and smoke, but was fatty and had no Bark. My Corn Pudding was really just another form of Corn Bread. It was dry and not at all like the almost Soufflé’ Corn Puddings I’ve had other places. Another odd thing was that their Iced Tea came from a dispenser, I would think that a Bartolotta place could make their own Tea. The best Bite I had the whole meal was a Rib I stole from my friend. If I ever go back, I’ll order the Ribs. They are wheelchair accessible. They are an order at the counter place, so service is difficult to judge, but the staff was friendly and helpful.

It’s summer and no surprise I’ve been on a BBQ streak. I just had to check this place out once it was open to try all the delicious meats and sides… so of course we had to order Bev’s combo. Holy moly is this a lot of food — 2 pieces of cornbread, two sides of coleslaw, and choice of two additional sides(we opted for the sweet potatoes and the mac and cheese) — and for the meats it came with pulled pork, beef brisket, ¼ chicken, very large hot link, 1 beef rib and ¼ slab of ribs(choice of baby back or st. louis — we went with baby back). Here’s the breakdown… Sides: I absolutely loved the cornbread and the mac and cheese — the cornbread had an awesome crust — very crispy top and soft in the middle. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy — the hubby even liked the bread crumbs which he never likes. The coleslaw was okay — not as creamy as I like, a bit watery. The sweet potatoes were good, not one of my favorite sides ever, but nice that it had walnuts mixed in and was not mashed, but sliced. Meats: Pulled pork was my least favorite, alright for an average pulled pork, nothing special about it that made me think twice about it. Chicken was surprisingly good, it had a very nice amount of smoked flavor, slightly dry, but absorbed the bbq sauce and was perfect. Hot Link was slightly fatty, but not so much that I was turned off, it had that awesome natural casing crunch and was oh so flavorful. Brisket was also slightly fattier than I’m accustomed to for brisket, which seems weird to say, but it was almost too well marbled, hmm. But it was juicy and it would do if i had a craving for some brisket Baby Back Ribs were good, but i wish they hadn’t smoked them with such a sweet sauce — tasted like a really sweet kansas style bbq sauce, which I typically enjoy, but i wanted a little heat or something else with it — otherwise it was very tender and fell right off the bone. Beef Rib — my favorite, so tender and delicious. Sauces: Bev’s House — Alright, nothing special — can’t remember too much of this sauce. Sweet and Tangy — A thick Kansas Style sweet BBQ sauce — I like Kansas style, but this was too sweet for me. House on Fire — Mild in heat but good flavor. Miss Carolina — Just as it sounds a Carolina vinegar style. I mixed the house on fire with the miss carolina to get a sauce I really enjoyed. Overall I think this is a great BBQ joint — clearly a Bartolotta, but a relaxed type which is nice. I would definitely visit again!

Miss Beverly’s Deluxe Barbeque officially opened this past Friday. I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview dinner the Tuesday prior, however, so Unilocaltern Brit G and I ventured the mere 15 minutes or so down to Greendale to check the place out… because BBQ! Miss Beverly’s is located right next door to Joey Gerard’s, and while I don’t know who Miss Beverly is, but I can tell you one thing: the lady knows. her. sides. (More on this later… give it a paragraph or two for context, dear readers.) This casual-upscale barbeque joint is set up similarly to a Panera Bread; you’ll order at the counter and be given a number. You’re in charge of your own adventure when it comes to seating, and soon thereafter, voila! Delicious barbeque in the form of your particular and specified order will be delivered straight to your face by one of Bev’s many smiling staff members. (FYI: This Bartolotta joint is less of a Bartolotta joint in the way old schoolers think of them. Miss B’s is affordable and accessible and casual, yet there’s still an apparent attention to detail in the ways you’d expect from any Bartolotta joint… solid service, cleanliness, and offerings.) Portions are generous and plates are served with cornbread, coleslaw, and your choice of side. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, fried chicken… the offerings insofar as protein are varied and interesting. Since Brit and I wanted to try as many different offerings as we could, she went w/the brisket and I the fried chicken. We also sampled mac ‘n cheese, cornbread, coleslaw, potato salad and sweet potatoes. A few takeaways: the sides were all downright fantastic. The coleslaw, though creamier than I generally like, was fab with a specific tartness. The potato salad was also lovely, it was the kind you’d like to take a vat of to a picnic. The cornbread was dense and sweet without being too cake-like. The mac ‘n cheese was rich and round in flavor, not one dimensional at all(could’ve been bound a bit better, but who am I to hate on already delicious mac?) The sliced sweet potatoes were candied with nuts and also delicious. Basically, the sides? Winners winners winers, all the way around. … and onto my chicken dinner, which was solid. This wasn’t mind blowing fried chicken, but it was good. Though a touch too greasy on the dark meat and a touch too dry on the white, I’d order it again for sure after they’ve settled into their groove a bit. The brisket wasn’t so much to mine or Brit’s liking however; we both found it to be far too fatty.(Hopefully they can dial that in soon!) Parking is easy in the lot adjacent to the building and the price points seem appropriate for what you receive for your money. All in all, I really like Miss Beverly’s and wish it was closer to the city proper… I’d swing in just for those sides all the freaking time! I’m looking forward to trying their pulled pork one of these days as well. For a solid, accessible and casual BBQ experience, give Miss Bev’s a whirl! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. :)
