Although the food was good it wasn’t worth the price. The bigger problem was that I expected Bartolotta’s to have a better understanding of food preparation for people with food allergies. On a recent visit I checked when making reservations whether or not they could handle gluten free diets. I was told they could and most everything on the menu could be done gluten free. But when we arrived the first three things we asked about could not be done gluten free. In fact about the only thing we could eat was the prime rib but with out the juice. We couldn’t even have a baked potato because of some coating they put on it had gluten. For a pricey restaurant the are pretty clueless about a common food allergy. They could have at least been honest when I asked on the phone. Not interested in going back.

Food was EXCELLENT-Service was subpar. Waiter never came to fill water glasses or pour us wine from the bottle we brought in. Would go back for the food but the wait staff needs a little help– disappointing for a bartolotta restaurant

This is a very popular establishment which is always busy. I had a mixed experience here that for the price and reputation surprised me. Staff were friendly and prompt but my server had a stained apron. Half the people at the table enjoyed their food which was a more complex sea food meal. However the two of us who got the meat and potato meal(supposedly the specialty of an old fashioned supper club) did not enjoy our meal. The meat dish was a bit tough and flavorless. The mashed potatoes were very soupy resembling a loose pudding. I personally see no reason to pay $ 50 per plate for that level of food but others may find other dishes they enjoy. When I told the manager he apologized but didn’t try to get me new food or make up for it. My verdict is good atmosphere, decent service, average food, but iffy value for the dollar.

Love this place! Was super disappointed that the Happy Hour bar and food menu has changed! No more $ 5.00 Joey’s Martinis and raw beef and onion bites. PLEASE bring back the old menu.

I believe this just made my top 3 Steak Houses in Milwaukee area! My service was always attentive, great atmosphere and my meal was outstanding. There is a deserved level of pride in delivering your plate to you because you are about to have a very satisfying experience. Joey’s makes no pretense of what they are: a great Midwest Steak House, and they do it well. Prepare for a great meal. I don’t recall the exact name of my dish but it was a coffee crusted Prime that tantalized the taste buds, was presented well and very tender. I will be coming back, and with an appetite, to explore more of the fantastic menu options. Thank you, Joey’s, had a great evening!

Consistently a favorite for special occasions. No matter what we have ordered, we have never gone wrong. Classics and fun spins abound. A very comfortable vibe — high quality but not pretentious. Service is always friendly and impeccable.

We love coming to this place for dinner. Make sure you come a little before your reservation so that you can enjoy a cocktail prepared by some of the best bartenders in Milwaukee, Nic and Scott. Start with one of the lazy susans… The Badger is a classic. If you’re hungry, get a bowl of the French Onion soup. It’s a little pricey, but some of the best I’ve had. Most of the specialty dishes are very good, but we really enjoy their steaks. The oven they use gets a perfect sear on the outside and it’s always prepared to specification. Although it’s not on the menu anymore, a good server will still allow you to order the«supper club dinner» option with your steak. For $ 10 you get a salad and a dessert — bananas foster is my favorite. The only reason I can’t give this 5 stars is that we’ve had hit or miss experience on the wait staff, which is why most of the time we just eat in the bar now.

Nice décor, but the food is very expensive for the quality/amount. Fried fish was soggy, although the batter was nice and light. Service from the kitchen and with our server were both very slow on a night when they weren’t even filled to capacity.

Great supper club place. Very clean and friendly service. The prices are a bit high, but the quality of the food is really good. I’m giving it 5 stars because of the location, quality, and service.

I was sadly disappointed in my meal here. I’ve been to other supper clubs,(L.Woods in Chicago being my favorite) and I was expecting this one to be up to par. It was not. At least not in the food department. The service was good. Our waitress was nice and attentive. She split the checks no problem, and was on top of refilling my water. First off everything on the menu is rather expensive. Again I’ve been to supper clubs before, I was expecting this. However, I don’t eat very much. Most restaurant portions I can turn into 2 meals no problem. Especially any meal over $ 30 usually consists of enough food for lunch the next day as well. This was not the case. I ordered the Salmon with potatoes, and cauliflower. The Salmon was a very small serving. Just big enough for dinner. It was also just mediocre. Not memorable at all. The potatoes were plain, the cauliflower was the best part of the meal. For $ 30 I expect to like my entrée, not just the side(which I substituted for whatever it was supposed to come with, so glad I did). I probably wont be back. Its just not worth spending that much to get mediocre food. If you do go, get the cauliflower side, really that was delicious!

«Great Food, Great Service» After waiting seemingly forever to finally go, I’m glad I did! Loved the food, decent prices and wonderful servers. Met the chef. Specialty request filled w/o complaint! Highly recommend stopping here next time you’re in historic downtown Greendale!

What is not to like about this place. They have a great wait staff. If you get«Jody», you have gotten an extra awesome waiter. If you enjoy the supper club this is a place for you. A typical meal for 2 with a drink will set you back about $ 60.

Joey Gerard’s was on my list of places to check out for the longest time. Recently, I was finally able to make it in for dinner. The restaurant has the look and feel of a classic supper club, with dark wood paneling and lighting that isn’t overly bright. They have a spacious bar with lots of options to choose from. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Our server, Jody, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks. And he was lots of fun to talk to. The food is excellent. They have pretty decent portion sizes. For my meal, I had the beef stroganoff. It included mushrooms, pearl onions, and sour cream. Was it good! The leftovers also reheated very nicely for my lunch the next day. My husband had the Char Burger. It is a half pound Angus burger cooked to order. He enjoyed his burger very much. I was advised by a couple of friends to try the raw beef and onions appetizer. The next time I’m here, I will make sure to do just that.

We spontaneously stopped in on a Thursday night for a «date night» without the kids, and were pleased with the experience at Joey Gerard’s. Downtown Greendale is a charming area, and Joey Gerard’s has a beautiful building and atmosphere. The theme of this restaurant is «supper club». It is really a nice steakhouse with retro touches and styling that makes it fun and unique. We were seated in a large half-moon shape booth, which was a fun way to sit together for our«date». The large dining room is edged with booths, and has tables in the center. The décor is dark, rich, slightly retro, and elegant, but not stuffy. The music in the restaurant is old school and wonderful! Now, about the food! The relish tray was OK. Fun, but not that great for eating. It contained radishes, olives, green onions, celery and carrots. My issue with our relish tray was that the vegetables were very wet(my green onion dripped onto the menu, gah!) It comes with green goddess dressing and like I said, it was unique but not really enjoyable. But the rest of the meal was very nice. We tried the popovers. What is a popover, anyway? It is a large, fluffy, delicious puff of pastry with cheese. These were super-fun and unique. I would recommend that you try them during your visit! They were delightful. My husband had spiced carrot soup. We would call this a «stick of butter» soup. Nice flavor and fine but not something we’d rush to order again.(I would like to try their french onion someday). We chose two steaks, a filet mignon and a new york strip. Both were well cooked. The steaks had a little smoke flavor from the cooking process that was good, not too smoky but a unique flavor. We tried the brandy peppercorn sauce and the bernaise sauce, both were good and flavorful. I loved the sides, sautéed spinach, and I loved my buttered red potatoes. It was a good and satisfying meal.(The sauces reminded me of Mr. B’s in Brookfield, but it has been ages since we were there.) We had wine, nice, and our service(Jody) was nice too. Attentive and friendly with suggestions and a warm welcome to the restaurant I only had to wait a little long for a coffee refill, but it got there with an apology for the wait. I had coffee and a chocolate bread pudding for dessert. The bread pudding was a large portion but the flavor was sort of bland. But what do you expect from bread pudding anyway? Well, next time I would choose something else. Maybe a schaum torte? Maybe bananas foster? My favorite Bartalotta restaurant is Lake Park Bistro, an elegant, but unstuffy French restaurant on the East side. It is our standard go-to for very special occasions. Given the choice I would stick with Lake Park Bistro for the very special birthdays and milestone anniversaries. For a very elegant steak dinner(and a dynamite«stick of butter» lobster bisque), I would choose Eddie Martini in Tosa. But Joey Gerard’s is a very nice, warm and friendly, close to home, quality dining experience. We were pleased overall. We only eat out occasionally and are selective about which restaurants we like. Joey Gerard’s is worthy of a future return trip for an enjoyable dining experience.

Good food but the small room to the left is really too cold for guest. We were very uncomfortable. Food and service really good although the food was not very hot, maybe they were having an off night as it is usually very good.

Don’t bother, seriously don’t. The people at the table next to us also said the same thing, they are never coming back. And I bet you are wondering why we were chatting with the people at the table next to us… So our neighbor table was seated when we got to our table. We had drinks at the bar before being seated so we didn’t need to order cocktails at the time we were seated. The server was very pleasant and she told us the specials and we perused the menu while we chatted and discussed what we were going to order. Our neighbor table had already ordered their dinner and their drinks were coming as we placed our order. In comes a couple that the manager and some of the staff seem to know well. They sit down and order cocktails and dinner. They get their cocktails and a basket of bread. Our neighbor table is still waiting for said basket of bread and so were we. After 20 minutes went by we grabbed the server as she brought a bread basket out to our neighbor table. I mentioned that we thought it was odd that the table across from us already had their drinks, basket of bread and their dinner was being delivered while we were all still waiting and we all ordered way before them. She apologized and mentioned that there was a wedding in the back room and it was really hard to get things out right now because the desserts were going out to the wedding guests. I had to wonder if it was so hard to get us and our neighbor table a bread basket or dinner why did the couple that the staff knew already have their dinner in front of them? That’s another thing, the ambiance was horrible because the wedding party was so loud we could hardly hear each other in what is supposed to be a fine dining establishment. So we waited some more. The server asked us if we would like more cocktails we said yes, as long as we got some bread to start soaking up the liquor! The couple next to us finally go their food and ours followed shortly after. Now I really believe the story about not getting into the kitchen to get our food out because the medium-rare filet mignon I ordered was close to hockey puck status. It must have been on that grill for a very long time. There is always a dilemma when sending steak back. Everybody else has to eat or their food gets cold… then they all have to wait for you to finish while they are all done. It is always an uncomfortable situation however when I looked at the price of the steak, it was going back. It was inedible as is. The manager stopped by our table and apologized for the issue with the steak which was nice and after that I noticed we was making apologies all around the entire restaurant. The second steak came and the server was very concerned so she asked me to check it before she left the table. I told her thank you, it was definitely better. It wasn’t over 30 dollars better but I could eat it. This was certainly not the best steak I’ve ever eaten. I have a suggestion for Joey’s: do dinner or do weddings but not both on the same night. So if you’re making a reservation, find out if there’s an event going on in the back room on the same day and if they say yes go somewhere else. On a good note, the people running the bar were awesome.

Not often I regard an establishment as 5 stars but this place nailed it. Todd, our waiter, was magnificent. I even mentioned my peanutt alergy and he brought the manager out to personally guarantee my safety. Something I’ve never experienced before. I recommend fridays for fish fry and cocktails.

We stopped in recently for drinks/appetizers.Based on this first experience, I will definitely be back to the bar and to try them for dinner. We walked in at about 5:30 and found a spot at the bar. Without even being asked, the Host removed a Bar Stool for me. It’s a small thing, but it shows a level of professionalism and awareness that I appreciate. Soon after we sat down, the bartender(Scott), welcomed us and brought us Drink Menus. I ordered a must for any visit to a Supper Club, an Old Fashioned, Wisconsin Style with Korbel, Angostura Bitters, Sugar, Maraschino Cherry and Orange. Diane ordered an Absolute and Cranberry. At Scott’s suggestion, she changed it to a Tito’s and Cranberry. Thanks to Scott, I have found a new favorite Vodka! We shared the Cheese Curds, Crab Cake and French Dip. Everything was great, but the Fries that came with the French Dip were some of the best fries I’ve had anywhere. perfectly crisp exterior with a light and fluffy interior. Even though we just split apps, I still had enough leftover for a nice sized lunch the next day! Service is so important in a place like this and Scott was wonderful, he tended to our needs and kept us entertained without hovering. Good bartending is a vanishing art and I appreciate finding someone who just, «get’s it». Joey Gerard’s is relatively new, so it is obviously wheelchair accessible. As I said earlier, I can’t wait to try them for dinner!

Went here for a post-work meeting so nice that I didn’t have to foot the bill :) The raw beef appetizer was SOGOOD and made me remember those free-spirited fun times when I was a child eating this stuff at family events. So Good. The fish on our lazy susan was pretty salty — kept that to one piece. The Deviled Eggs were AWESOME! Cole slaw tasted really fresh. The onion soup looked great, but honestly I wasn’t a fan of the broth/onion part because it had a sweet flavor. I don’t know if it was made with sweet onions or what, but I just ate the cheese off the top and that was it – I eat onion soup a lot and I’ve never been turned off of the soup before. For dinner it’s mostly just steaks… so I had a steak, lol. The sides I chose were cauliflower and creamed spinach. That cauliflower was TODIEFOR! The creamed spinach needed more seasoning. When I ate my leftovers the next day, I added some garlic powder and salt and it was much better :) But, I liked how it was creamed, generous with the real cream and not that processed feeling I’ve gotten at other places. They have all these weird sauces to go with the steak, and normally I love sauce but with steak I feel like it covers the meat. And if you’re paying top dollar for a steak, why would you cover it with sauce? Glad that they serve the sauces on the side and also glad that I elected to go with the au jous — it’s not heavy and doesn’t overpower the steak. The server was fantastic! Simply one of the best servers I’ve ever had. I think her name was Kate or something. wish I could’ve remembered to compliment her before leaving. I will if I go back and see her there again. And they have ice cream drinks! Yay! Only problem was that I was way too full to get one after dinner :(

Took mom and sis to dinner on Sunday at the Greendale location for my mother’s bday. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff. A relish tray and warm bread quickly arrived after we received our drink order, which also arrived quickly. We started with Shrimp de Jonghe and Artichoke Dip appetizers. There were 5 jumbo shrimp in the light butter and garlic casserole topped with bread crumbs. The shrimp were succulent and perfectly cooked. The Artichoke Dip was rich, but not too rich. Both apps were very good. My mother order the NY Strip and my sister had the grilled chicken sandwich. I ordered the Ribs and Broasted Chicken combo, with a ½ rack of oven-cooked ribs and a ½ chicken, because it would have been my mother’s other choice, so she could try everything. It WAS her birthday dinner, afterall. I traded her a rib and a drumstick for a small piece of steak. The steak was well-seasoned and cooked exactly to her request, which was well-done. I don’t know how they did it, but the steak was still tender and juicy at well-done. Impressive! The ribs were tender and delicious and the BBQ sauce was very good, a little sweet, a little tangy. The Broasted ½ Chicken wasn’t as crispy as other broasted chicken I’ve had, which was fine with me. It seemed to have a lighter buttermilk batter which provided a nice coating. I was grateful that the chicken was cut into pieces so I didn’t have to work so hard to eat it. The chicken itself was very tender and juicy, not the best chicken I’ve had, but it was very close to some of the best I’ve had. There were a lot of other great looking items on the menu that I hope to get back and try. It’s definitely worth a visit.
