Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection, very nice touch with relish tray. Great atmosphere. House peppercorn dressing is top notch!

All around awful experience for a New Years Eve dinner with the family! Let’s make a list! *Pretty sure the Grey Goose vodka was watered down *the bread was a semi-frozen, half-sliced log *the salad consisted of pre-packaged lettuce and generic bottled dressing AND? *The menu options were incredibly overpriced and limited to beff, pork chops, shrimp or lobster(which was $ 60)! I reluctantly ordered the grilled shrimp. Priced at $ 38 – I expected a wee bit more than five large, shell-on shrimp and a bowl of cocktail sauce. Now, were I a mermaid, I would have eaten the shell, thus, enjoyed the wonderful grilled flavor that was apparently only on the shell. Alas, I am not a mermaid, and therefore had to suffer through the bland, tough meat inside… Oh yeah! And look forward to parking down the block in Greendale’s industrial area – as the parking lot was a complete F you…

This place rocks if you live in Franklin. Not much here but this place is awesome. I go here often. Last year my wife and I went to get steaks for our anniversary and our waitress misunderstood our order and gave us a senior filet instead of a junior filet. She fixed the bill and charged us for the junior. I gave her a huge tip and thanked her. Not the best restaurant on the planet but this place is solid. 5 stars.

«A Greendale Staple» This steak joint is not over or under priced. I have never had a bed meal here or bad service. It is both great for singles, families and special occasions.

Four years after my Unilocal review, we went back again. Nothing seems to have changed. And that’s a good thing, sort of slipping into a pair of old shoes that don’t look like anything special, but feel just right.

Made reservations for a group of friends to enjoy a nice dinner before going to a wedding reception that do not serve dinner. The waitstaff was friendly but did not communicate well with each other at all. We were a pretty big group in the corner of the restaurant and at one point a wedding party asked if they could take pictures over there we agreed and then our food came out. We didn’t expect them to take pictures for 20 minutes while we tried to enjoy our dinner that was extremely over priced for what you get. We could have gone to a chain steak house and had a better meal and paid less.

I had dinner here last Saturday night, and I’ll admit that my expectaions were exceeded. When we entered, the bar was full and there was a small line of people waiting to check in with the hostess. The place was packed around 7:00, and our server told us that was unusual. Maybe all the people who gave up meat for Lent wanted to get caught up. The dining room has a view of the grill where the steaks are made and the atmosphere on our visit was lively. I reviewed their menu online and already knew I was ordering the Bone-in Rib-eye($ 39). Entrees include soup or salad, bread basket, choice of side, and a relish tray, which included scallions, carrots, pickles, black olives, and peppers on our visit. I would have loved if the relish tray veggies were all pickled, but they were solid as is. I ordered the Baked French Onion soup and loved it! It was one of the most flavorful broths I’ve had for French Onion soup, with flavors that differentiated it from all others. The cheese on top was browned, but I wouldn’t call it burned. It was very good. I ordered my steak medium. I should learn to start ordering medium rare, but on the few occasions that I have at other places, I’ve been disappointed with it being too rare and cold. This place would have probvably made it correctly. My steak was medium through most of it, but closer to medium well and well done, the closer I cut to the bone. The flavor of the seasoning, the fat, the bone, and the char from the grill combined for a great tasting steak, and they didn’t need to put it in a bath of au jus to provide flavor(you know who you are)! The steak came with a fresh, sauteed mushroom garnish and a few onion rings. The onion rings were perfect, and among the best I’ve had! The ratio of breading to onion was spot on, the breading had a good flavor, and they were perfectly crisp so that when I bit into one, it didn’t come apart and let the entire onion follow the one bite into my mouth. I chose hash browns as my side dish because I had a baked potato earlier that week and I wasn’t in the mood for potato wedges. The hash browns were also cooked to near perfection, very crispy with a softer center. I don’t even think I had to add seasoning. Our server, Jessica(I’m pretty sure that was her name), was outstanding! She was attentive, very engaging, and made great recommendations to us. Her fun and friendly personality enhanced our dining experience. Toward the end of dinner, the live music started. The singer played the keyboard and sang classic songs from a couple of genres including R&B and jazz. This is one old school suppoer club that I would be comfortable recommending and returning to.

After three visits now, I have to upgrade The Steakout. It’s an adorable little supper Club. Check out some live singing on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s like a classic movie in there :) Complete with 80s, sometimes 70s style patrons which make for an old school vibe. The relish tray that starts the meal fits the supper club theme, but often goes uneaten. On it are: carrots, celery, pickle, black olive, scallions, green pepper and another type of pepper that I didn’t venture to try. The wine list leaves something to be desired. It would serve them well for updating once a year, at least! The martini list has some interesting choices, but would also serve them well to stock their booze inventory so that they could make everything on the list. Twice I’ve come in within a couple of months between visits and they don’t seem to care enough to purchase St. Germaine, which is required for the French Martini(of course, one that I would like). The baked French onion soup was spectacular tonight. Really, opt for this instead of the salad that comes with your meal. My choice was the combo filet and shrimp. It was only $ 35 and I could choose between shrimp or lobster but the sever, Jessica(who was excellent), suggested the shrimp. There was a shrimp option between breaded or grilled in the shell — duh! Shrimp is too good to bread! The shell was something you had to rip off using your fingers, was totally worth it and the three shrimp were huge. The filet was smaller but between the opinion soup and broccoli and extra side of a baked potato that I ordered, it was more than enough for a satisfying meal. For dessert a Golden Cadillac ice cream drink!!! Why oh why have ice cream drinks gone out of style?! People, you are missing out. Yum to the yum-yum!

My wife and I were in the mood for a fish fry and we hadn’t tried The Steakout since moving to Greendale. My wife’s first bite was fishy tasting. Mine was not, but the heavy batter was bland and gave the fish the consistency of rubber. The fish fry comes with waffle fries… those were very underdone. I ate a few out of desperation. My wife substituted a pasta with red sauce. The pasta was soggy and limp. The service was good and the other customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. Still, I’m not likely to give it another shot. Literally nothing we ordered was good.

Food was excellent. My filet and lobster were cooked perfectly. Great cocktails and french onion soup. Good representation of a WI supper club. My only negative is that we had a reservation for 7pm and stood in a crowded area until 7:20 before we were seated but nonetheless the meal was delicious.

Very disappointing for a restaurant that was reviewed as 4 stars. I am having trouble giving it 2 stars. Started with ice cold bread being served… like they had it in the refrigerator :(Salad was not fresh nor was the relish tray. Both wife and I ordered the Filet Mignon, medium well. We should have sent it back, especially my wife’s. Hers was completely charred on one side and not edible. I didn’t realize it until she was half done eating it(my wife is not a complainer). The seasoning of the steak was ok, but was served sitting in a pool of butter :( For the prices they charge we were expecting a lot better food. We would not go back.

I have to start by saying we went on Valentine’s Day and it was a Saturday so it was packed. We had a reservation at 5pm and got there 5 minutes early. We had to sit at the bar for a few minutes, but it was to be expected given the circumstances. They sat us at a tiny table for two. Our waitress came promptly to ask us for our drink order. I’m the type of person who likes to know what I’m ordering for dinner before picking my drink, so I ordered a water to start and started looking at the dinner menu. Typical steak place with not much else on the menu. My coworker recommended the filet mignon to me and since I typically like that cut, I ordered the junior filet. My husband ordered his favorite cut, the ribeye. I realized about then that I hadn’t seen a wine list or drink menu, so I had to ask the waitress for one. I ordered a glass of Cabernet to complement my steak. The waitress brought out bread to start with which was cold. But not just room temperature cold, like almost freezer cold. Which is odd because I overheard the waitress telling another guest they get it from a bakery on Oklahoma. It would take ten seconds to warm that bread up in a microwave. I don’t care how busy you are-I can wait ten extra seconds. Then our salads came. I have never had such white iceberg lettuce in my life. No green at all. Just white. The one tomato wedge was mealy and the Italian dressing tasted like Kraft. So by now my husband and I were thinking what the hell are we doing here. I still hadn’t gotten my glass of wine and when the waitress cleared away our salad plates. My husband asked about my wine and she said she knew and that it was coming. Well then our steaks came. Still no wine. I couldn’t wait and so I cut into one. Perfect medium cook(I had them butterfly it). This steak was amazing. One of the top three filets I’ve ever eaten in my life. My husband agreed. It was melt in your mouth good. I was enjoying my steak but didn’t get my wine until at least a quarter of the way through. When it came there were tiny pieces of cork floating in it. But whatever, it was good wine and it went perfectly with my delicious steak. I got potato wedges and they were good, but the steak was the hero. My husbands opinion of his ribeye was definitely not the same as my filet. He said it was cooked perfectly, but a bad cut and not at all seasoned. We had no salt and pepper on our table so we had to steal some from the table next to us. Awkward. We will not be back despite my amazing filet. It wasn’t enough with all of the negatives. Too bad too because you could tell the guy grilling up the steaks was really great and knew exactly what he was doing, but everything else just let us down.

Had the prime rib. Great flavor and nice cut of meat. Shrimp Cocktail $ 18.95 for 3 shrimp! Big shrimp but they could give you 4 or 5 at that price. Overall great meal.

I have been to Milwaukee a number of times and usually end up staying near the airport. There are definitely limited choices in that part of town. After doing a Unilocal search I became interested in this restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant it’s a very old Timey feel with an old bar and very dark. Dining alone I usually sit at the bar. The service was excellent the food was excellent. I ended up ordering a filet mignon which was cooked very well. This is a supper club and I was the only one that was sitting by myself not knowing anyone else in the restaurant. It was like I had stumbled into someone’s house with a bunch of friends over and I knew no one. They were very friendly but not my crowd.

I went here to meet with some customers this past week on the recommendation of said customer who lives in the area. It’s a supper club whatever that means although I hear that word a lot when in the area. We don’t have them at home… I suppose it means that you get a relish tray before the meal. It’s an old building /restaurant that has some wear on it. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few cocktails before dinner. When we were seated that have a maily meat centric focused menu. We ordered appetizers of zucchini sticks and mushrooms. The zucchini sticks came out piping hot and the mushrooms were more of a side dish and not that wonderful. My 14 oz fillet came out perfect. It was seasoned well and cooked to perfection which is hard to do with a thick cut like this fillet. These guys know what they’re doing! We were seated by the grill in the back and I didn’t realize how hot I was until the end of the meal, but cooled off quickly in the fall like night air. All in all, a solid choice for a good steak and sides.

My family has been coming here for years and I love the steakout! I have gotten to know much of the staff and they know me too, so it is very nice to walk in to a place that knows your drink and what you want to eat! For appetizers I love the Pizza Bread! Its a large order, so plan to split it with the table! For dinner, I have had everything form Friday Fish Fry, to sandwiches, to thier Filet Mignon. Each time has been delicious! Live music on the weekends is already very nice! They even have a dancefloor, but I have never seen anyone on it.

Went out for our anniversary and haven’t been to Steakout for about 25 years. It’s your basic neighborhood supper club type place where all the of the older people like to hang out and bring their families. Menu selection is good. Service was good. This place is apparently pretty busy because there was a constant turn around of people in and out and I’m not sure why. Perhaps because its unique for it’s area and has a «name» in the community. The bar is a hot spot but the drinks are weak. My overall impression was«meh». I have had better steaks elsewhere, especially for the price. The relish tray was humorous(2 pickles, 2 carrot sticks and 2 onions) The bread basket was 3 pieces of bread that was stale. Back to the steak. The steak was ok, just ok. They cook it so it’s charred on the outside and supposed to be tender on the inside but it actually tasted more like pot roast, not steak. Disappointed. I have to be fair to the fact that if I have not had steaks at other places which I consider my favorites now, I’m sure this would have been much better to me but I will not be returning anytime soon.

I wanted a steak and in this part of South Milwaukee, there really aren’t too many choices. So I headed over to Steakout. Very slow greeting at the hostess stand. There’s a bartender, two waitresses that had too many tables and a teenager doing the hostess work. Lots of movement, not much exercise. But I chose to stick it out. I was eventually brought to a table, where I watched the waitstaff running about for a few minutes. She wanted to just take my drink order(they have a short wine list and several bottled beers as well as a full bar) but I figured to get my dinner order done at the same time. Wedge salad with blue cheese, and while she warned me that the blue cheese«dressing» was actually crumbles and a scoop of sour cream, I stuck with it. I would recommend something else if you want a good salad. For main, I requested the 14 ounce filet mignon, medium rare. When the steak arrived, it was nicely charred on the outside. But this was a very big piece of meat — at least three inches square, so the outer edges of it were nicely medium rare, the middle core of it was still rare. And with a knife that could have used a good sharpening, it wasn’t that easy to eat. The baked potato came plain — thankfully I still had the butter from the(cold) bread basket. While tucking in to my steak, two tables near me had problems with their orders. One got the wrong steak(a filet instead of the strip) and the other said his 16 ounce steak was too small. It was okay. I don’t know that I would go back.
