I’m not a big board gamer, but came in here looking for a specific game to play. While they didn’t have it, the one employee working was friendly & helpful & gave us a bunch of advice & suggested other card games that we may like based on asking some games we said we did like. We ultimately decided on getting a game as a Father’s Day gift instead of something for ourselves. In addition to the board games they also have a large play area with tabletop accessories. As well as a lot of brain teasers & puzzles(including those insane back breaking Ravensburger ones that come with their own transport dolly). Prices were a few dollars more than online, but we decided to support a small business & skip the shipping cost.

First, the good. They have a large gaming space and a fairly decent stock of games. Now the bad. I wanted to like this store but I can’t. They charge to use playing space and EVERYTHING is at least 10% over MSRP. In an era of online stores, only a fool pays a 10% premium on items that are neither out of print and are readily accessible with but a few clicks(or in many cases, at the local Barnes and Noble /Target /Walmart). It also doesn’t help that the staff appears to have a raging case of the ‘aspie-hipster gamer’ syndrome either. I can’t recommend this store and sincerely feel bad for the people of Greenfield that this appears to be their only option in a 30 minute radius.

I play Pokemon. I go here usually to play Pokemon because that is my favorite card game!

I visited Board Game Barrister for the first time recently to buy a birthday present. They have a great selection of games so I ended up buying a different game than I went in planning on buying. They also have copies of what looked like all the games they sell open for inspection and use(although I think it is pay to play). This is helpful for me as I like to see the parts of a game before I buy it, especially the spendier ones. The store is large with plenty of tables for game play although nobody was playing on the weekday evening I was there. The best part was the staff was friendly but not pushy allowing me plenty of time for browsing and deliberation, it’s hard to choose just one!
