This located is closed as of 6pm Saturday Location in Glendale is still open and doing a very good business. Victim of a bad location.

The food is good. But I was one stamp away from filling up my reward card. They told me that they changed their reward system and took it from me(even though it was almost filled). I was given an application for a new card that asked for nearly as much information as a credit application. No thanks. In an era when privacy is hard to come by, why would a hot dog restaurant need to know my home address, date of birth, and wedding date? Just for a reward card? Hate to say it, but this does not make me want to return. It’s a shame since the food is good.

This place is closing and its literally been 1 hour to get a hotdog!!! Common man!!! Hot Dogs take a whole 2 minutes. This is absolutely redonkulus!!! Good thing this place is closing because it’s absolutely shit service. What a shame. Unilocal is really pissing me off guess what I am done with my mother Fing review and I am trying to help you out but you want me to post more and it’s just making me more angry!!!

It seems that the first time we came here our excitement clouded our review. We’ve been back here a couple times since and were not as impressed.

First and foremost Dr. Dawg in not a veterinary clinic. Not even close. I took my Vizsla here one Sunday morning, and found a wiener restaurant. I gotta say it was not a trip a I regret taking. When I pulled up I checked my Unilocal App out and saw some great reviews for the burgers. Normally when I go in a place like this I just imagine my arteries closing up the Zoo Interchange during rush hour. There do like a couple nice options for the health conscious. I appreciate that. The Kobe beef weiner was nice. Real nice. I had a burger too. No complaints. On a Sunday at 11:30 there was next to no one inside. So the food came fast. It looked really clean in there. And it does not small like deep fried cheap perfume, with a splash of beer like Hooters did. I think it is hilarious to take kids to Hooters, but I think Dr. Dawg is a better option. Adults will like the wieners too. Prices were fair for the quality. I liked it there. I will return but I will not bring the dog next time. Feeding your dog people food can be ok, but be sure to not give your dogs, onions or garlic, avocados, caffeine, mushrooms, chocolate, beer, or some other things you can look up on Bing.

I got the slaw dog and a side of the bowl o’red and a bag of garlic rosemary fries. I can’t remember what my husband ordered, but a couple of the hot dogs. First, i’d agree with several of the other comments that this place is pricey for what you’re getting. The«side» of the bowl o’red is really a 2oz solo cup — really? Call it a solo cup, not a side. I put the chili on my slaw dog — I would say they should add this as a hot dog choice as i bet this would be an big seller for them. The chili was good though. The bag of garlic rosemary fries were also good, could have been a bit crispier, but however they cooked it with the garlic and rosemary made it a bit soggy, I just like my fries really crispy. I would probably go here again because the dogs were good, but I couldn’t see myself come to this place more than a couple times a year — nothing that special that I couldn’t make for myself at home for so much cheaper.

Finally got to try this place after apartment hunting with the gf. SImple menu but good. Did take a few minutes to bring the food, but there were a few orders ahead of us so no big deal. We both got the chicken sandwich and the meal that came with fries and a drink. Great chicken and great fries. Can’t wait to frequent the Glendale location once we’re living in brown deer.

I thought the food tasted great but I doubt I’ll be back because it’s awfully expensive. We purchased two dogs, a medium fry and large soda. For $ 18! That’s downright absurd. A Chicago style hotdog should not cost 3.50 anywhere other than at a stadium where we expect inflated prices. The double Italian ended up being 7.50 after adding onions and peppers — but the clerk never said anything about the additional charge for the toppings. Despite the price leaving a sour taste the food did not. For that I will still give 3 stars.

Consistently great burgers. Grilled, charred and juicy. The rosemary and garlic fries are awesome!

This review actually hurts me to write. I have loved Dr. Dawg since they have opened, the food is spot on and the fries are something special. In life and in business the biggest indicator of a companies ethics is when something does not go as planned and how they handle it. Today I had such an experience. Today my family went in and we all ordered, my wife ordered a Chicago dog, my kid one of those pup meals(really cute, and I ordered a foot long plain Kobe beef dog with chili and bbq sauce on the side. I said give me a plain dog, I must be strange as I like the chili bbq combo I put on it myself. Everyone’s food was great, but mine came out with all the fixings. I told the nice young blonde that I ordered it plain and she said she would get it corrected. I said great. I received a wiped off Kobe beef dog 5 minutes later. It had relish in the split four corners on half of it and mustard on the other. They simply rinsed the dogs off and put them on a fresh bun and freshly plated the food. This disgusted me. The owner I assume(older gentlemen) came up 3 minutes later and asked me how everything was going. I explained that wiping off a hotdog in my world is simply unacceptable and asked him if this was his policy. He admitted that the situation was handled incorrectly, but would not answer my question as to if this was the policy he put in place. He offered me a refund and barely believed I ordered it plain until fiancé produced the receipt. He did everything correctly for the situation, I simply cannot continue to patronize a location that finds this activity acceptable and until the practices are changed I suggest no one else does as well.

Been missing Chicago style beef and this place was fantastic. I prefer to order dry style and have a side of au jus to pour as I go. I’m a slow eater and find the method to be the best to keep the sandwich together. My husband and I split a bag of the Rosemary garlic fries. My only knock is that they don’t have much in the way of non carbonated/Caffiene free choices. A nice tart lemonade would be awesome.

I’d been missing the Chicago Style hot-dog/Italian beef restaurant that I frequent back home, so I was really excited to try Dr. Dawg. The wait for our food was pretty long, but I don’t mind waiting for something that comes out hot and fresh — which our food did. I ordered an italian beef soaked, but it came super dry. I went up to get a side of gravy, and got a small additional amount. Which was okay, because even that amount kind of made the bread fall apart. I’m used to bread that’s a little bit sturdier when soaking it is an option. But the garlic rosemary fries are absolutely delicious — whoever put these on the menu is a genious, and the seasoning on the Italian beef was fantastic. The Chicago Style hot dog is also spectacular, piled high with super fresh ingredients. Totally worth a stop if you are in the area.

I have been going to Dr. Dawg since they opened up. I absolutely loved it from the start! The dogs and sausages are all fantastic, the burgers are juicy, and the Italian beef is one of the best out there. I would have given Dr. Dawg a 5 star rating, however, on my last visit(02÷26÷15) I was shocked to see that the awesome multi-flavor soda machine is gone! They now just have a plain ‘olé general soda machine. Part of my looking forward to going to Dr. Dawg has always been for my favorite slaw dog, chili cheese dog, and a crazy combo flavored soda. Hopefully they put the machine back in!

Outstanding service and food. The order taker was very courteous and friendly. She was constantly cleaning when not taking orders and she switched out empty napkin holder with a full one for a family. The Maxwell Street Polish dog had very tasty and tangy mustard and caramelized onions. Best I have ever had. FYI my wife and I are hot dog fanatics. My Wife said her cheese dog was outstanding and the ingredients of the Chicago dog were very fresh and flavorful. My son had the chili covered fries. He let me have a taste the chili was very good.

This place is the best. My husband and I seriously stop by at least once a week. Quality fast food, great prices, friendly service-what’s not to love. Kobe beef dogs-need I say more? They’ve got more than hot dogs… hamburgers, Italian beef, everything I’ve ever tried has been great-even the chicken sausage(you know, for those extra healthy folks!). Definitely worth stopping by the next time you are craving a good hot dog.

After being introduced to the Dr Dawg location in Glendale by my father in law, I was very pleased to see them open a location in Greenfield, close to my house. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very nice. Their food is better than what you would expect a hot dog place to serve. Their hot dogs are amazing. You can have them served with«The Works», plain, or anything in between. On my most recent trip there, I had the Kobe Dawg. Absolutely delish! If hot dogs aren’t your thing, they also have excellent burgers, Italian beef, chicken sandwiches, and chili that is out of this world. I also need to make mention of the fries. All of their varieties are very good. But: the garlic rosemary fries are a must-have. For beverages, they have the Coke machine with a million different drink combinations to choose from. Or if you’re in the mood for, or need, an adult beverage, they have a great selection of beers to choose from. If it’s not super busy, you’ll receive your food in a timely manner. If its busier, you may have to wait a little bit for it. But it is worth it. There are more trips to Dr Dawg in the future for me.

UPDATE: 1÷1÷16 place is now closed. Has been for a while. A successful place needs to have 3 things: Great tasting food, good customer service and a clean establishment. Dr. Dawgs has all three. Our first time experiencing Dr. Dawgs was an unexpected one. I honestly did not have great expectations. I mean… it’s hot dogs and hamburgers(among other things). But my fiancé was craving a Chicago style hot dog and there aren’t many places around. We were greeted by the owner, who was extremely friendly and personable. My fiancé was also very pleased that there was Spotted Cow on tap. Dr. Dawg himself was pleased by our big appetites and willingness to try his food. We ordered a chili dawg, the polish dawg, the Chicago hot dawg, Chicago Kobe dawg, a hamburger and a side of the garlic rosemary fries. Um, those BUNS??? Yum. It was delicious. Seriously. Even I was surprised at how good the food was. My fiancé’s only complaint was that the fries and burger were lacking salt. She’s a chef so I feel that plays a part. I thought everything tasted perfect. The fries?! You have to try. Every item that we ordered was devoured. The burger was cooked just how we asked. And the Dr. came over to make sure that we were enjoying our food. After we were done, they were closing up the place. But we stood and talked with Dr. Dawg and got to know a little bit of his history! We enjoyed that he has a passion for what he does. And what’s also great is that he appreciated our one criticism of his food(lack of salt). He wanted to know what we thought of the Kobe dawg and although we loved it, we feel that having the Kobe without the overwhelming toppings would compliment the meat better. He agreed and suggested that we keep to the slaw when eating the Kobe. To which my fiancé replied, «well you could have suggested that in the beginning!» Haha, he was very fun to chat with. He truly cares about his establishment and serving great tasting, fresh food. Needless-to-say we will be returning in the foreseeable future. You get little rewards cards, which are nice when you’re investing in a place. Go here. Or don’t, but it’s your loss.

As much as I like the old-school charm of Martinos, I’ve long wondered why no one really bothered to take the Vienna Beef restaurant to the next level. Not that you can really do much to tinker with the Chicago dog or the Italian Beef itself — the preparations of those particular sandwiches have long been set in stone — but to make efforts to improve the periphery: beer, fresh cut fries, free beer, Coke Freestyle, a house beer contract brewed by Sprecher and is free sometimes. Plus they even somehow manage to somehow remain calorie conscious despite the 7 inches of beef I shoved into my mouth., so even if for some reason you are watching your weight, Dr. Dawg can help you find something suitable to your tastes.

Solid 4 stars here. I had the Italian combo w/sweet peppers(7″) & chilli cheese fries w/a large drink. $ 17.xx seemed a bit ridiculous for what I got. So they’re overpriced, otherwise I might go 5 stars. Food was solid. The Italian beef was a little dry, even though I had it dipped. The Italian sausage was awesome! Not over cooked like a lot of places you go. Chilli cheese fries were pretty good, but I think I’ll go only cheese fries the next time. The cheddar cheese was great. I’ll definitely be back. Forgot to use the 20% off for checking into Unilocal,so that’s my motivation!

I had heard Dr Dawg opened a south side store, and happened to stumble upon it this weekend. I knew they served Field Roast veggie dogs, so I was super excited to give them a try. So. Damn. Good. Ordered: –Slaw Dog –Field Roast Veggie Dog –Garlic Rosemary Fries –Soda Total was about 15 bucks. To those who complain it’s «too expensive», if you are paying less than 2 or 3 bucks for a hot dog, you are eating unspeakable pig parts. These were QUALITY dogs that we ate. My boyfriend wasn’t expecting the drier, vinegar based slaw that he received, but he really liked it regardless. My veggie dog was excellent! And field roast sausages are not cheap so I appreciated not paying an arm and a leg for it. The fries were DIVINE. I like being able to actually taste the potato in my fry, and these fries were hand cut and juicy and awwwwesome. Bonus, I am a DDP freak(Diet Dr Pepper for those who aren’t in the know) and they had that available on tap along with Diet Coke and Pepsi. Much appreciated! Overall I really enjoyed my visit to Dr Dawg and can’t wait to come back! Good food, good quality, reasonable prices, and DDP!
