I’ve eaten here a half dozen times, and had only positive experiences. Staff always greets me and my guests as though we’re about to become fast friends. Food is fresh, tasty and quick to the table. I love the kimchi and pickled daikon radish you’re provided with your meal — a nice touch. Highly recommended.

First time trying this restaurant out. I think I was the earliest customer of the day.(Came at around noon-ish) The waiter/host greeted me quite awkwardly as I made my way into the restaurant not knowing if I was supposed to wait for him to sit me or do I pick myself a sit. The restaurant looks very casual with very simple but nice decorations. Then I looked at the menu, a bit annoyed by the font that they used to write the name of the dishes. I would have wished that the menu writing would be as simple as the decoration. Then I ordered kalbi, ham kimball, and kimchi chigae for lunch. The ham kimbap just tasted like kimbap! Nothing too special about that, and a bit too plain in my opinion. And then come the plate of kalbi and the chigae. While the kalbi tasted really nice, I expected a bit more ribs or thicker slices for a $ 17 dish. Lastly the chigae tasted fine, but I have had better elsewhere. Overall, I have had an ok time at this place. Took out 1 star for the hard to read menu and another star for the quantity and quality of the food served not worth the price paid for.

Best kalbi, soon dubu, and japchae I have had outside nyc, dc, or LA. Very good Kim bop and dolsot bimbimbop, I like to add beef to mine. It’s an extra charge but worth it. Amazing kimchi, you only get 2 side dishes(ban chan), simple but great. Worth the trip to greenfield.

Having lived in Greenfield for the past few years we have driven past this restaurant a million times but we had never tried it before. Yesterday we stopped in here for dinner and after our meal we may make this a regular spot. The staff here was incredibly polite and the dining area was very comfortable. We bought their shumai, pan fried dumplings as well an their Galbi. All three items were delicious, freshly made and we couldn’t get enough of the shumai. The rice that came with the meal was perfectly cooked and the side dishes were perfect. In the end the prices were reasonable and we really loved the food. The only downside was that the soda was a bit flat, but in the world of critiques, this is a minor inconvenience. This is a must try while in Greenfield.

NOTE: This is a BYO place(wish I had know that before I got there). After reading other reviews on this site, decided to check this place out. So glad we did. Terrific food, pleasant atmosphere and helpful server. Everything we tried was delicious. We were there around 7:30pm on a Thursday night and were the only customers. I know that Hope and Olive, the«Rock Star» of Greenfield restaurants is right around the corner but, this place is a gem and really deserves more business.

I have been eating here since shortly after they opened in a previous location, ten years at least. Great Korean food. It is the food your mother would serve you if you were lucky enough to have a Korean mother. Fresh and delicious ingredients, well prepared with good service. One of my favorite places in the happy valley.

Loved the dumplings, great service, nicely presented. I’m not a fan of kimchi so I can’t really judge it.

I had the spicy beef soup. It was kind of perfect. It had just the right amount of heat and everything tasted really fresh. The acoustics here are kind of terrible. I was talking softly and felt like the kitchen could hear everything.

We just had dinner here tonight. It is absolutely delicious and a very nice atmosphere. If you are cruising up or down 91, it’s only about 7 minutes off the freeway!

I can’t review the food here because we’ve been at this very small restaurant for 45 minutes and haven’t received our food yet. In fact only 3 tables have received food in that time. The very nice waiter brought some free appetizers, and everything smells great, but … He says it will be another 15 minutes before our meals will come. The waiter says the problem is that everyone came at once(it is Saturday night after all) and they make everything fresh, nothing is prepared ahead. We are waiting for BiBimBop and marinated beef. Wouldn’t you expect that the rice and vegetables would be made ahead, the beef would be sliced and marinated, so they would just need to grill the meat and fry an egg?

My now fiancée brought me here on our first date. I love Asian food minus all the grease and oil, and Manna House’s food is fresh and use far more healthy ingredients than typical Asian places. The woman who runs Manna House treated us like family, and when we make it to Greenfield, I love going back.

I come here everytime I visit my brother in Greenfield. Still haven’t found a place that does Korean food better all for a great price. Scallion pancakes are my go to! But have never been disappointed by anything. Even after the expansion is still has that friendly mom-and-pop feel. And so glad it expanded because it was so tiny before you could hardly sit two tables of four.

As a Korean American, I can truly say that Manna House has some delicious Korean food! It’s a bright and friendly restaurant with quality service and fresh food. I only wish that they served a wider selection of drinks(e.g., beer, cocktails), which might allow for a stronger evening presence in Greenfield. At the moment, I think of it more as a great spot for lunch.

Tried the restaurant for lunch. Food tasted traditional, clean and delicious. Most Americanized Korean restaurants get too sweet, greasy and salty. Not here. The lunch portions were generous. Kal-gook-su(noodle soup) was hearty and perfect comfort food for the winter day. BiBimBop was also full of well prepared vegetable toppings and the sauce not too sweet. Fried dumplings were fresh and yummy.

Driving with my folks from Sturbridge back to our home in VT, we needed dinner. So we Unilocaled and found a burger place in Greenfield. Luckily, I had to walk the dog… and my head snapped when I saw the word«Korean» on a distant sign. Could it be??? In GREENFIELD??? Well, we can have burgers anywhere in Vermont. Really good burgers. But we have to drive 90 minutes for Korean food. And we had Korean parents in tow. The course of action before us was clear. If you are Korean, like my parents, you may not want to come here, especially if you have ready access to Korean food at home. If you are Korean-American living in the whitest state in the US, you will be excited to have any kind of Korean food. If you are new to Korean food, you will be pleasantly surprised… and seek it again. Nice atmosphere – simple & classy, with some Korean art. Clean & new, this location has been open since spring 2012. In the background plays relaxing, unobtrusive music that makes you feel vaguely like you are in a really nice elevator — the same music my mom plays in her car.(It does make you want to push some buttons at first, but then you get used to it.) The menu was strong on the soups — the best of Korean cuisine offerings, in my humble opinion. They use quality ingredients, nice and fresh, and everything was pleasingly flavorful. We even asked if they used MSG — just in case — but our server laughed and said he didn’t think anybody did anymore, that was so old fashioned. The server was a nice young man – Korean-American, I suspect. Service was prompt, attentive, and polite. He answered our question readily, questions like, «where do you get your customers? Is there, like, a university nearby?»(Subtext: how are you are surviving in GREENFIELD?)(Answer: prep school students, many of whom are Chinese.) (By the way, I am not making fun of Greenfield. It is a lovely town with a lovely downtown area and feels very New England-y. Much like my favorite towns in Vermont. But like much of Vermont, it is remote from Asian-intensive populatins centers… and Korean restaurants.) But onto the food. I thought it was fine — not amazing, but fine — my husband had the flu and can’t be objective, and the folks… well, they have high standards for Korean food. We started with«Haemul Pajun»($ 11.95) — a savory«pancake» with scallion & squid with soy dipping sauce. This is my caucasian husband’s very favorite Korean dish. The squid was perfect — great flavor, nice texture, a hint of grilled smokiness, which comes from a nice, quick sear in the pan, I suspect. But the pancake as a whole seemed to be overdone on the outside while still a little too mushy on the inside. Not horribly so – it just could have been better in texture. Mom got«Jjang Bbong($ 10.95) — which is actually a Korean take on Chinese food. It is a super spicy soup with noodles, fish cake, shrimp, and squid. Here, it was too spicy — too spicy to let you enjoy what should be a happy harmony of complex seafood flavors in the broth. But it did have lots of mussels. Mom was disappointed, but I kept wanting to steal more. I ordered the Korean standard, «Bul Go Gi»($ 14.95), which the menu describes as «fully marinated beef cooked to perfection, served with vegetables.» It was average for a restaurant that does not grill it in front of you(which makes it amazingly delicious.) The marinade was right on, but it was not made from a great cut of meat — just an average one. Vegetables included carrots and onion cooked to just tender. I cleaned my plate. My husband & dad both ordered«Duk Mandu Gook»($ 10.95) –without the duk! «Duk» is rice cake, «mandu» is meat-filled dumpling(not unlike a wonton), and«gook» is soup.(And yes, a racial slur for people who consume a lot of soup and call it «gook») But I love the describption in the menu: «dense rice cake petites ponder in the depths of this dumpling stew.» I love it! pondering rice cakes!(«Petites»?) Now, if you’ve spent time at my house on New Years eating this, you know exactly what they mean. That is exactly what those rice cakes do, those contemplative little fellows. The first few are so wonderful… but then you can’t seem to get rid of the rest.(I swear they also propogate as they ponder.) The broth had a wonderful, full flavor, and the dumplings, tons of meat — almost as much as my mom puts in – instead of just filler veggies. Over all, I enjoyed it & was pleased with what we got, considering we are no where near a Korean-filled metropolis. Had this place been in Boston, I would have given it 3 stars. In NYC, LA, or SF, barely 2. But c’mon! We are in Greenfield, Mass! It may not be amazing Korean food, but it is very tasty food, and I commend them for taking a chance and for their efforts. If they were a 45 minute drive of my home, I’d be here at least once a week. Best of luck – we’re rooting for you!(PS – more panchan, please!)

This Korean restaurant just opened in it’s new location. The food is great and the service friendly. The Kim Bob and Duk Bok Gi are a great appetizer start. I love the Kal Bi short ribs.

Very good Korean food served in a tiny hole in the wall on Main Street in Greenfield. The food is fresh and the spicy dishes are quite hot. Try the soups and the spicy squid for something different. Service is friendly and efficient. The place is small and can get a little noisy when it’s full — but it’s fun and comfortable.

I’ve lived in Boston, I’ve lived in NYC, but never would I have thought I would find the best Korean food anywhere in tiny Greenfield, Mass. The menu is small and traditional. Don’t expect anything you haven’t heard of. It’s also quite expensive for the area — main courses average about $ 10. But don’t let either of these things hold you back. Your meal will be cooked fresh and fast. The proof of its authenticity is that you’ll often find local Korean families eating in the small dining room. It seems like possibly no one else knows about it. But since I’m leaving the area, I will share the secret with you, my Western Mass friends. Try anything — and thank me later.
