On Tuesday, I made reservations for Saturday. I made sure the receptionist understood that I needed 6:30 reservations for 8. Friends arrived from out of town and we were at Darryl’s promptly at 6:30 to be told that they had us down for 6:00 and we were«no shows» so they had given our table to another group. While we were waiting for another table to open up, one of our ladies visited the rest room but didn’t use it because the conditions were deplorable. We called Tripps who accommodated us immediately with a round table for 8. I had never been to Darryl’s and certainly will never return.

We decided to stop into Darryl’s on a random Saturday night. We walked into the door at 7:10 and expected a wait. The hostess said that the wait would be approximately 30 minutes. We actually were seated with drinks on the table in under 20 minutes. This was very surprising especially because they were so crowded. My one complaint is the steak is relatively high priced. A 9 oz sirloin was $ 20. For Greensboro prices, it is usual. However, I usually go to steakhouses in Winston-Salem and can get a 12 oz steak for less than $ 20(usually around $ 18). We started our meal with the homemade crackers. Let’s just say, I was hesitant to try these. What could be so special about a fracker with ranch? BUT Y’ALL. These are soooo tasty. You pick up one and before you know it, you can’t stop yourself. There are seriously THAT good. As for entrees, I decided to get the ribs and steak combo. The steak was an ordinary sirloin cooked to perfect tenderness. But the ribs. The ribs were divine. They fell off the bone. They were perfectly sauced(I would’ve actually preferred a little more just because I love my sauces). These ribs were just epic. I paired my entrée with green beans(veggie of the day) and mashed potatoes. I literally could have been rolling out of there I was so stuffed. And I had leftovers to take home! Someone at my table suggested dessert. I have the biggest sweet tooth and decided that I might as well try. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach though. I decided on the cappuccino cake. It was sooo good. The cake was perfect. Not too dry. It would have been even better if I had asked them to warm it up! The icing was thick and creamy. I finished 1⁄3 of the cake and decided to give up and pack another to-go box! I recommend giving Darryl’s and their ribs a try if you’re in the area. It’s a pretty epic little find.

My fiancé & I went to this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. As soon as we walked in, the hostess were all up front gossiping & they didn’t even greet us. They just asked«table for 2?» Then walked us to the table. The waitress we got was in a bad mood or something because she was giving us an attitude & was rushing us. I gave this place 3 stars because despite the service, the food was amazing, drinks were delicious & the place was unique & very decorative.

Post Father’s Day meal so decided to step up a little above my traditional double burger so we went to Darryls first off our server was great no issues there she’s the reason for the 3 stars. The over priced 12 oz ribeye was the let down. It was thin very thin less than a ½ in cut ordered it med rare and got med on one end which to me means it was dry and tough, the baked potato was not as hot and fresh as it could have been but what do you expect from a $ 22.00 meal descent food don’t be silly. Don’t think I will be back there again besides their menu is limited to your standard steakhouse options could be the reason there only a few left of the chain.

Steak was very good. You could taste the wood fire grill. Atmosphere is really interesting and visually stimulating. The service was good, but the manager made it most enjoyable. He was attentive and really took pride in his service. I would recommend and go back if I had the option. Check this place out!

My wife Catherine and I went for out wedding anniversary and it was excellent. Our Christa took great care of us and made sure we didn’t need anything, the broccoli was not steamed well and she promptly got me a new fresh one. All the food was great and we were well pleased. Even the Manager came over to make sure everything was ok. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family.

Stopped in for a quick meal prior to a long annual meeting. Although the restaurant was full of large groups having graduation dinners, we were seated quickly. Our server was attentive our meal came out gast. Yes fast, plate pipping hot but all the food on it was room temperature. We got new plates with hot food. Everything was tasty as usual. We also got the free« Unilocal» appetizer.

Darryls Tennessee chicken and mashed potato entrée are a must have! I definitely recommend it if you’re in the area or just passing through.

We were actually on the way to a major chain steakhouse when we drove by this place. The busy parking lot and outdoor fire pit. We stopped in and were told it would be a 15 minute wait. We were seated in 10. The place is old school with vintage décor and a casual ambience. Our waiter had our drinks to the table within 5 minutes of ordering and our appetizer within 10. Our main course was on the table and piping hot at the 15 minute mark. I got Prime rib, my wife had lasagna. The service really impressed and the food was absolutely fantastic. I cant say enough good things about this place !!! We will be returning, often.

Darryl’s is a place that I can’t decide if I love or not. The food is always good, but it’s almost too much. Like, if they did a few less things and knocked those things out of the park, I think it’d actually be a better restaurant. Don’t get me wrong here, I’ve always enjoyed my experience here, including the last time where I had some tasty buffalo chicken tends, but I’m never blown away and it’s almost like a local version of a souped up Chili’s. That’s not a compliment. I do enjoy this place though, it’s just not one I seek out.

The only reason I ate here is I’m on a business trip and it’s within walking distance of my hotel. But those baby backs were a contender for the best ribs I’ve ever had. I even came out of my Unilocal hiatus to write about them. Ok, I’m also in Greensboro, NC and maybe a little bored. Service at the bar was excellent and the mac and cheese was great too. Oh, about that — on the menu, it states that entrees come with fries and baked beans, or you can substitute salad or soup for $ 1.49. It mentions nothing about the mac and cheese(why?) but I was able to sub my fries for it at no extra charge. To think I was tempted to try the«Triple Threat» or whatever it’s called with the baby backs, cajun shrimp and chicken tenders… ha! Fuck the cajun shrimp and fuck the chicken tenders! I mean, they’re probably good, but getting the full slab of baby backs was the way to go. Actually, no it wasn’t. I should have ordered two slabs. I hope I get to return before I leave town. To the person who compared Darryl’s to TGI Friday’s… Man, are you for real???

Darryl’s is part of local franchise including Pig Pounder, Marshall Free House, yo daddy, and Burger warfare. They have a good beer selection, but tend to be marked 10 – 15 percent higher than other establishments in Greensboro. The menu isn’t a far cry from TGI Fridays. And like TGIF, the food tends to lean on processed ingredients and a high sodium levels for their favoring. The dessert menu is decent, with the addition of their novelty s’mores. The service is hit or miss. Today, it was fine. In short, Darryl’s is akin to other national chain restaurants, with a menu filled with the usual suspects and the processed preparation. If you’re in the area and desperate for something familiar, give it a try. I

With my visit to Greensboro this another must try place. My daughters love it here and if you want a nice piece of steak or prime rib or even just a soup and appetizers this may be the right spot for you. I usually order the ribeye or prime rib. My daughters like the ribs and soup. They also like to eat upstairs where they can pretend they are in jail and put on orange jump suits and shackles. The service is pretty fast and food portions are great and full of flavor. Sorry today I don’t have any pictures to post because I was so hungry I gobbled all my food.

Awful experience. We were a group of 11 and went on a Sunday around 6pm and they said the wait time was about 1hr to 1:15, so we decide to ride it out and wait that time. After an hour of waiting we asked how much longer was our wait and the hostess said about 40 more minutes. That’s when we decided to leave since we had a group of people that were hungry and aggravated, plus the explanations we were given showed the lack of organization and planning they had. From that point we decided to take our business across the street to Smokey Bones, where we had a great time. The restaurant is definitely unprepared to handle a medium size group that is just walking in to have dinner, and from the excuses they gave us they couldn’t coordinate the walk-ins with the reservations. I recommend that if you are going with a medium to large size group, make reservations if they even let you do them.

This is quickly becoming one of my «go to» spots. I had my graduation celebration here and they were so great and accommodating. I’m a sucker for their dessert pear margarita. It’s so delicious! I also had the shrimp and grits and let me tell you… amazing. I wish the shrimp had a bit more of that wood fire grilled flavoring but the dish as a whole was terrific. Our service was the best it’s been. Mari was so great. She was engaging, funny, and on point with absolutely everything. Our finished dishes didn’t stay on he table long, our drinks were never empty, and two managers even stopped by to check on how things were going. They were on their game tonight. It was a great dinner tonight and I’m looking forward to my next trip.

I have fond memories of sitting in the top section of Darryl’s as a child. The food wasn’t very memorable from back then… but then again I probably was more thrilled with the cool atmosphere than what I ate. I recently returned to Darryl’s after decades of not eating there. The food is outstanding. The experience cannot be replicated. Darryl’s is a fun and interesting place to eat. The shrimp and grits are amazing and the homemade crackers appetizer is really tasty. Painkiller cocktail is on point.

We’d been thinking to visit Darryl’s wood fired grill ever since we moved to Greensboro. We finally got a chance today. The parking was pretty busy, an indication of the crowd inside. We checked in and a short 10 minutes later, we were seated on the upper floor. The menu has everything you’d like to see if you go to a barbecue grill restaurant. They even have a kids menu with Mac and cheese and veggies, etc. We had not checked the menu online, so we got our own Mac and cheese. We ordered the 3 way sampler, black beans burger and potato wedges. The order of wedges had mysteriously changed to Mac and cheese! The burger was succulent and the fries were well seasoned. The ribs were great and juicy(or should I say saucy :-)). Chicken wings were pretty good as well. The Cajun shrimps were small but delicious. The portion of our dishes was quite filling and we had to make the cheese and beans to go. The atmosphere was great and the service was prompt, friendly and engaging. Thanks Christa! We loved Darryl’s wood fired grill and we hope to come back soon.

So it’s my first time going here and I have to say I love the layout, atmosphere, and build of the place. It gave me a feel of the Hard Rock Café to be honest. I got the free crackers from the check in and it was actually really good! I was hesitant to try it, especially since I’m not a big fan of ranch, but it goes so good together and it came free soooo… I think that’s what made it better. One thing I have to say about this restaurant is that there is so many choices from the menu, I’m most positive you don’t have to be in a craving mood for an exact thing to just go to the restaurant. You can crave whatever and they most likely have it. I got the Cajun shrimp with fries and it was freaking great y’all! There was so much shrimp, I was overwhelmed. And it tasted better than any restaurant I’ve ever been to where I’ve gotten Cajun shrimp. It’s my first time and I will be sure to come more often! It’s definitely not a waste of time and I’m absolutely in love here.

Two days in a row here. The waitress and waiters were super nice and friendly. I was greeted with a smile on their face and they made sure that I was okay during my meal. There were a lot of places in the Americas where the waitress or waiter was not friendly. This place was definitely quite different. First night I had the three way sampler: pulled pork, half rack baby back ribs and 1 lb of wings. Absolutely delicious! I would go back just for it! The ribs were fall off the bone and soft and tender. The BBQ sauce on the ribs were to die for. I felt the smokey flavor from the way they cooked it on the hickory wood. The wings were graciously big. The only thing is that the pulled pork was a little dry but the sauce that comes with it was delicious! Today is my second night here. I got the Black and Blue salad. That comes with the steak and blue cheese with cilantro, red onions, peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette to top off.

Where do I begin? I guess I’ll start at the end… with dessert! ha ha! If you want to begin at the best possible point, Darryl’s has the most incredible beignets that we have tasted since our last visit to Savannah at Huey’s restaurant on the river. The beignets at Darryl’s are served hot, fully covered with powdered sugar, and if you desire, with sweet dipping sauces. In my personal opinion however, the sauces aren’t even necessary. The powdered sugar is perfect, as are the beignets. If we could only order one thing at Darryl’s it would be the beignets. We definitely enjoyed the rest of our meal though, which even though it was excessively salty, was still very good. Plus, the signature appetizer of Darryl’s crunchy crackers were amazing. Top all of that with the themed rooms of Darryl’s… a vintage circus theme with opulent touches like huge chandeliers, vintage balcony seating, heirloom style frames, and an antique phone booth, as well as jailhouse themed décor at the top level where you can have your mug shot taken. Wow! Add to everything the fact that you can sit outside around the incredible fire pit that has communal seating for huge groups. We were in awe, and can’t wait to go back. Parking is available in their own private lot. For daytime lunches reservations aren’t necessary, but for evening dinners, especially with large groups, I’d recommend calling ahead. Just remember, the beignets are worth saving room for. They are absolutely delicious.

I was here recently for a private event to tour the restaurant and sample their food. I was so impressed, I took my entire family back with me just a couple days later. We got to sit in the upstairs«jail» area and the kids absolutely loved it. They got a tour of the restaurant and they loved the home made crackers made fresh from scratch in house. My kids got a burger and a steak and they rarely eat most of their meal but polished off their food in no time. I ordered a full rack of ribs and baked beans and the flavor off both coming from the wood fired grill in the kitchen is off the charts — best ribs I’ve had in Greensboro since moving here recently. The servers were great and the manager even stopped by and spent time talking to us and showed he really cares about our experience. I would HIGHLYRECOMMEND going to Darryl’s over any local chain restaurants that rhyme with Billi’s, Appleknees, Kooters, Longthorn, Tipps, etc…
