Went to dinner after shopping in the Friendly Center. I had the Chicken Crepes with a sauce that tasted great and really tender chicken. My wife had French Dip which tasted great. Tried a bottle of house wine which was good and finished with Crème Brulee Cheesecake. We would go back again especially for the Roasted Chicken Crepes. I also recommend Mimi’s

This is only the second time I have visited this chain. The previous occasion was 11 years ago in Dublin, Calif where it was new construction. Revisiting this location in Friendly center next to PF Changs, I quickly figured out why I was not a previous fan of this chain. The menu was not to my liking. My wife was tending to try the«West Coast Reuben» but I talked her out of it. Who can call a sandwich a Ruben that has no corn beef(I cannot consider turkey a viable alternative especially if it is overly expensive.) We ordered the ten-dollar cheeseburgers on a brioche bun. It was 2:30 in the afternoon. Hardly any patrons were still there but it still took the cooks nearly 45 minutes to cook a couple of cheeseburgers with fries. The buns were good and the burger cooked properly with about 1⁄3 pound of beef. I liked the fries as well but I don’t think this burger is appreciably any better than Big Burger. Minis would do well to fix the menu. The picture on their web site for the Quiche Lorraine shows a sloppy broken and over cooked shell. There are no pasta dishes on the menu. There chicken with waffles would have enticed me if I could have had dark meat instead.(All their chicken is breast meats.) The three soups on the menu were French Onion, Corn Chowder, and something else. Bottom line I think clam chowder improve the menu. The roast chicken looked good on the menu but dubious choice at $ 16. The Mimi Café’s web site has no prices, which does not surprise me as I think lunch for two averages $ 35 and up. Service was courteous and friendly. Thumbs down on the restaurant is given for two reasons. My wife said the woman’s restroom was filthy. The smell of the restaurant smells like old cooking oil, which is a turnoff.

We’ve been coming to Mimi’s on and off for several years. We almost always go for breakfast. The lunch and dinner menus were never very attractive. The breakfast menu, however, is quite good. They have the standard egg/meat plates, waffles/pancakes, as well as gourmet omelet options, crepes, and Benedicts. We’ve probably sampled at last one item from each grouping and it was always good. Today I went with the potato cake Benedict. The composition of the dish is good, with perfectly cooked spinach, sliced tomatoes, and hollandaise. The eggs, however, were over cooked. Almost hard boiled. I fully recognize the challenge in serving perfectly cooked poached eggs, but it’s simply one of things one must get right – otherwise, the entire dish is compromised. While this item was certainly tasty, it missed this required dimension in flavor and texture. I rarely send my food back, and this was no exception. But it is still worth noting. If you want the Benedict, explicitly request the eggs poached. The coffee and cappuccino are always on point. The service was also good. So, if you’re looking for a more gourmet breakfast spot, give it a try. For a chain restaurant, it’s pretty good.

This is always a great place for a good, comfort food meal. The salads are always good but the best are the muffins. Always get a few to take home. Service can be a little slow but not that big of a deal.

I am a sitting here at Mimi’s Café and once again disappointed. The food is overpriced, it takes forever and the sizes are lacking. My son is leaving here hungry. The tacos are average at best. This is a place to avoid.

Not bad. We’d God back. I had chicken crepes. Fresh. Clean. Positive atmosphere. Friendly service. I felt like we were on a cruise ship because of the décor. I guess you could say it was fun.

It’s been awhile since I’ve returned to Mimi’s Café after 2 consecutive disappointing experiences. Even still, I agreed to try it one more time after my wife said they had a new menu. I will say I was thoroughly surprised and pleased with my service and meal. I ordered chicken and waffles and was great! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We’ve been here several times now and have mostly been pleased. They have the absolute best French Onion Soup that I’ve ever had, I would definitely recommend that! Their French Dip is awesome as well. The service is good and quick, and if you get Jason as your waiter your in for a good night. Their steak isn’t the best in the world but is still ok, the club sandwich is pretty good, the burgers are also good, but the killer is the French Dip and French Onion Soup. It’s not to salty like most places but still has great flavor. The fries are pretty good but not the best. I will definitely be back!

When I was a student at UNCG, I frequented Mimi’s Café a lot. I really enjoyed their food and the service was always nice. The interior now is the same; festive with a New Orleans appeal. However, the service and the food have seemed to have declined a bit. Five of us stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm and they were packed. Three of our party arrived first and sat down to wait, and the other two joined us. Finally, our«beeper» went off and we approached the hostess stand. The ladies that we had just spoken to about the party of 5 were confused and said«Oh, I thought there were only 3 of you. We don’t have a table for 5 yet…» We told her that we would happily squeeze into a booth. It was tight, but it prevented us from waiting another 30 minutes. It took a while before our server came to our table. She was nice, but not very attentive. She checked on the table beside of us 3 times as much as ours. I try to be patient and understanding, but that was very obvious. Our food was pretty good, but not outstanding. The prices are a bit much for the portion and the wait time was not necessary. I’ll probably be back just because I would like to give them another chance. However, I would suggest that they work on their speediness, listening skills, and customer service.

I have been a few Mimi’s and I will say the food did not disappoint. The service was on par for a Saturday evening. However, several of the booths are showing their age, duct tape covering rips and tears, wrinkles.

I went to this restaurant on Thursday night(my birthday) December 17 at 7pm. The restaurant was not crowded so we were seated quickly. We ordered 2 specialty burgers with fries and an extra side of augratin potatoes. When our food arrived, all of it was warm.(Nowhere near hot… like it had been sitting) When I advised our server, she said«That’s so you don’t burn your mouths».(What the heck? Okaaay! We ate our food but we may not dine there again. Oh, and we also ordered dessert to go… strawberry shortcake and Birthday cake.(What we didn’t realize was that it was crêpe layer cake… very unfortunate. Not good at all. It tasted like thin paper with birthday cake frosting between each layer.)

Terrible experience. Not one, but tree bugs in a lemonade. Fries were overcooked, past with foreign mushrooms. Bread and beer arrived after the dishes ! This used to be a decent place.

Mary and I went here twice within the first few months it was open and felt the service was so poor and the prices to high for what you got that we had not been back. But a group of us that worked together and relocted to Greensboro over 30 years ago decided we wanted to start getting together occasionally. So we met here last month and had no trouble get seating for our group, the service was good and everyone enjoyed their lunch, so we decided to come back again. Today was our second gathering and we had the same experience so we decided we continue to meet here each month. Today I had the Black and Blue salad and it was great. And our server recommended a turkey sandwich which several of the guys got and they raved about it. Didn’t see any to go boxes. And our server was great and very personable. When I told Mary about the experience she said we will try it for dinner soon. My only concern has been the limited traffic at noon for lunch. Hmmmm.

This is the type of place that makes me question the way I review restaurants on Unilocal, and one of the ones that make me wish that I could give half stars because I really want to give it 2 ½. However I was sorely disappointed on both of my visits here so a 2 it is. I can say that the food here is usually good. This is a chain restaurant so there is some consistency, so that’s to be expected. These were my first times visiting this location(near Friendly Center) in Greensboro, and to tell you the truth I really only come here when I crave their French Onion Soup since it is the best chain Onion Soup I know of so far. As a consequence I decided to come here for dinner during the weekday and lunch during the weekend. The food here is pretty good. The Onion Soup is great as always. However the service was horrible. The person who served me at my table both times was Austin, and I found him to be a perfectly pleasant man and he constantly checking in with me and refilling our drinks among other things. However, he seemed to be the only person manning the tables including the dining room and patio during these visits, and apart from who seemed to be the manager coming around and refilling water, the only other people I saw helping customers were the cooks who were delivering the food. Also, there were some pats of butter spilled on the floor next to me, and although I alerted someone and know some people saw it, everyone was too busy to clean it up, so I cleaned it myself because it bothered me, and I was worried that somebody would slip and fall. While the servers were good, It seemed that given the number of customers here warranted more because it was busy and there were some long delays in getting service when it was needed(water refills mostly from my end). I would however like to give props to Austin for handling everything like a pro. However, unless you are like me and you really love Onion Soup, I would skip coming here.

«French Themed»…what does that mean? Ordered a salad, with«fresh greens» aka discolored days old stale chopped iceberg lettuce. Was asked if I wanted a muffin or a «French baguette»…I ordered the«baguette»…what came was two dinner rolls… coffee cup was dirty on the inside… server was doing a good job of trying to sell me more and more food. In essence Mimi’s Café is an overpriced«French Themed» Denny’s(I think that means a Denny’s that serves wine) except the food at Denny’s is much better. Never again.

I always have a great experience at Mimi’s! First of all, as a carb lover, I appreciate any restaurant that offers free bread and theirs is delicious! The service is always good and I like the cozy atmosphere. It doesn’t feel so much like a chain restaurant. I really enjoy their brunch and their California Reuben is worth coming back for!

Great muffins, but this place is just blah otherwise. Not very accommodative in terms of service – if you want them to just hold the bacon on your salads, good luck. Very heavy, unhealthy food for the most part. The place tries to come off as some kind of Cajun/Francophile foodie paradise, but having been to both New Orleans and France, this restaurant is a pale shadow of those locales when it comes to both food quality and taste.

This use to be one of my favorite places to eat when I was big into chain resturants. This review is based on the last time I had went there which was a few months back. I ordered a entrée with a side dish of mac and cheese. Now this being MIMI’s and for the price points they have, i was expecting it to be a baked Mac and Cheese but what I got looked liked the single serving kind that kids eat at home that you can microwave from Kraft. so not worth the price and looked soo pitaful being served ind its huge size bowl. This item should not be on the menu.

They’ve got the food down here, but the service can be a little perfunctory and the décor looks like the same team who used to do Darryl’s restaurants – lots of knickknacks hanging on the wall meant to evoke, in this case, a Parisian bistro, but really just managing to look inauthentic. I had the seafood bouillabaisse and it was very good, stuffed with mussels, shrimp and scallops with a very nice tomato broth. Perfect butter richness without being too heavy or too salty. The seafood was well-cooked, too. I also had the side Caesar salad and the lettuce was nice and crisp with freshly-grated cheese with just the right amount of dressing. The waitress wasn’t rude, just not particularly engaging. They have great drink specials, including $ 5 glasses of wine all the time, though. It’s a fine choice for lunch in the middle of a long shopping day at Friendly Center or before a movie matinée, but I wouldn’t make it a special dinner out or anything.
