Last year I judged these guys the best burger in town(in a 3 way tie) having tried 52 burgers in 52 Greensboro places. I was pleased to find The burgers are still A+. I can’t consume the banana pudding cheesecake tonight as there’s just no room. Doggone it. I enjoy the 1890 building and Railyard location in Downtown Greensboro. It’s casual enough to be relaxed but classy enough to suit your boss or a first date. I’d like to think I will try something different next time, but It’ll be hard knowing the burgers are so tasty. Drink specials are frequent so check the board or server.

Came here with coworkers after visiting a client for the day. So glad we decided to come here. The service was amazing. The server accommodated every request including some that were not even made. My coworkers discussed getting two dishes and sharing. Request was not made but they brought the dishes out split already. The food was fantastic. The lemon pepper wings were tasty and cooked perfectly crispy. The ribeye covered in shrimp scampi was delicious. My Caribbean burger was perfectly cooked. Crème brûlée for dessert was a perfect cap. If I lived here, this would be one of my haunts.

Had been here once before which was really good. Things change in a year, and unfortunately, in this case, it was a change for the worse. Burgers were solid, but a special steak and shrimp was fatty and not that tasty. We had a particularly clueless waitress who was friendly but really struggled with some questions on the bill. Not that busy on a Saturday night which was telling.

Most of the menu items are good and you can’t go wrong. Love the trains that come by occasionally. Service is good too and the old building is pretty neat.

Amazing location, great people and some of the best food in Greensboro. It’s right on the tracks so you might hear some trains! Brunch on Sunday’s is the best.

Went in for dinner and had the Tempura Yellowfin Tuna. It was just a tad overcooked in spots but still very good. The green tomato pineapple salsa was spicy and went well with it. I had a Foothills Jade IPA as a beverage. My server was pleasant and friendly. No complaints.

I was really nervous at first when seeing the limited brunch menu, but our waitress told us about the specials and I was immediately intrigued by the Caribbean burger. I’m so glad I tried it! The mango salsa on top was both sweet and spicy and perfectly flavored. It paired excellently with the bacon and expertly grilled burger. I rarely get medium rare when I’ve order it other places, but this one was spot on! I love garlic aioli with my sweet potato fries and was pleased to see it was served alongside. The only dissatisfaction was the fact that they had a tasteless Spanish show on the television with hardly clothed women dancing right in front of my five year old daughter, who was quite perplexed by what she was seeing. I did not enjoy answering those questions. Every other television had sports, which was expected(and appreciated, as it was on the futbol games).

Great food for a good price. Tried going Gluten Free tonight. They have an amazing small dish that consists of sears tuna sliced thin with teriyaki sauce, wasabi, and sesame seeds. Really enjoyable for around 10 dollars. Same staff as spice cantina for the most part and I think they are all wonderful people. Live music consistently. Absolutely love the direction the rail yard in downtown is going in.

Great Brunch Spot! Tried this the other day for Sunday Brunch. I had always heard about it but thought people were talking about Print Works Bistro. When I found out this was a completely different resturant I decided to give it a try. I sat on the Patio which was great. It was a perfect Spring day for it and they also had ceiling fans out there to help cool the spot off. The wait staff was very attentaive and friendly. The menu was limited to just Brunch so only a few diff items to choose from. I ended up getting eggs benedict that was very tasty and filling. It didnt get served with a side so at first I was kinda worried that it wouldn’t fill me up, but when my dish arrived it was a very big portion so I didnt leave hungry. I deff will be back for more Brunches and I also would like to try their dinner menu.

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem when we took a quick train-trip from Mooresville(via Salisbury) to Greensboro. We had brunch on Sunday, just before heading home. This is one of those places that«make» a trip; I told my husband I would make the drive from Charlotte to Greensboro just to visit this place again.(And we plan to!) The atmosphere was quaint and comfortable; we just wish we had more of a view of the outdoors(and the passing trains — so cool!) from inside the restaurant. The service was top-knotch; our waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive. I enjoyed a crabcake croissant(packed with lump crabmeat), cheddar grits and fried green tomatoes(topped with pimento cheese and reduced balsamic on a bed of greens — hellllloooo, Lover).(I stayed full all day!) Truly an experience worth recreating. We plan to return for dinner and drinks in the future.

We’ve been here several times for drinks and appetizers and for dinner one time. It’s nothing terribly exciting but hasn’t been bad either. Once we ordered the hummus and were surprised to find that the pita bread had been fried… not pleasantly surprised, just surprised. On another occasion I had the special which was salmon oscar… I don’t think it really should have been called salmon oscar, there was maybe 1 tablespoon of crabmeat atop the salmon, that seems a bit minimal to qualify as «oscar» so that was disappointing, particularly because the salmon beneath it was very dull, I’ve made more flavorful salmon at home. Anyway, the wine was okay. We’ll probably still stop in now and then for a drink due to the limited options around downtown but probably won’t eat here again after our last experience.

The menu is limited and uninspiring, the food is pretty average, and the drinks are over priced. The service was actually pretty good though! I had a coupon, so my wife and I went to check it out. I found it to be over priced and average. Not impressed and likely won’t be back.

Excellent first dining experience at The Worx. I love that the proprietor purchased and developed a wasteland south of the railroad tracks in downtown Greensboro – a plot that no other developer wanted – and made it into a destination, with two restaurants and the City Market experience. Cool. Service was very good, very attentive. The tasty fried calamari appetizer was prepared just right, included tentacles, lightly breaded, delicate and fresh. The remoulade served with it was too hot. But I prefer it simply with lemon. Also, it was served on a bed of arugula, which I love. You could tell the seafood pasta was prepared with a good seafood-stock base, but it was a bit over-sauced and over-salty. The Worx salad was a pleasant mix of greens and other salad-makings. The balsamic vinaigrette was too sharp. Despite the refinements needed to some of their recipes, I really enjoyed the dining experience and the food overall and will definitely return to sample other menu items.

Sangria is house made and wonderful! Everything I’ve tried has been great. My husband orders the crab cakes regularly and they are always spot on. Their Tasso collards are bit spicy with a nice smoky flavor. Recently they had mussels in a mustard cream sauce as a special, they were so good, I hope they bring them back! The owners are very involved in the Greensboro community and especially in downtown. Which makes me want to support this local business even more.

After having a fantastic first experience, I dragged a bunch of friends here for dinner. Needless to say, I was rather disappointed. I was surprised at first to see how slow it was when I arrived. It was a Tuesday night and there were only 3 tables sat. My party of 6 ordered the pretzels and fries green tomatoes as appetizers and both were pretty good, more so the tomatoes. For dinner, I ordered the Angus burger with goat cheese medium rare, which came with Rosemary fries. The burger came out medium, though very well done near the edges to the point it made the burger very dry. I had to dip it in ketchup just to get it down and I don’t even like ketchup on my burger. The goat cheese added was minimal, maybe a half teaspoon, and I could hardly taste it. The fries were fries, nothing special. My husband raved about the time he got the Angus steak before and so he ordered it again. Instead of being a steak though, it was delivered in strips, covered in a red pepper coulis that did not compliment it at all. He thought it was okay but I found it to be horrible and chewy, even though it was cooked medium rare. I never got a refill on my water, though everyone else got refills on tea. Other than that, service was good and friendly. But I need more than service to go back. The food was just not up to par and I was sorely disappointed.

This was my first time at The Worx. It is a fairly new restaurant in downtown Greensboro. It is located parallel to the train tracks. The servers at this establishment were very nice. Everyone seemed to have a smile on their face. I ordered the Crab Cakes with Asparagus and Pomme Frites. The fries were amazing. But it’s pretty hard to mess up French Fries. The Asparagus was a little over cooked. Lastly, the Crab Cakes were large and jumbo lump! Which is a bonus, they didn’t have a lot of bread filling like other places, but then I took a bite and they tasted like they had too much mustard in them. Like a tart sour taste. That rained on my parade at The Worx. When I received my check. I noticed there was an issue with how I was charged and addressed the waiter. His demeanor changed automatically. He was pretty rude. That just out the icing on the cake for my experience.

(call it 3.75) The best way to describe The Worx would be as a dressed-up pub. The pricing and presentation occasionally strive for something greater, but it’s a false ambition. You won’t find anything off-the-wall innovative, but if you play your cards right, you can certainly take in a satisfying meal. Housed in a 120-plus-year-old building, The Worx makes good use of its space inside and out. Outdoor seating is nestled in a cozy-looking porch. Indoors, there is an industrial theme that feels more appropriate than overbearing: red walls, metal art, solid brick, and ductwork(in other words, decidedly NOT The Mad Hatter). Though it fills easily, the noise level is tolerable, and servers seem to take good care of their tables. The menu here is limited but with enough versatility to get by. Seafood mac and cheese and a jumbo stuffed portabella seemed to be the only derivations from formula. Familiar or not, however, the execution was successful. The fried green tomatoes, topped with pimento, bacon, and balsamic, were among the best I had. A crab cake sandwich was slightly sweet and well put-together on a thick, buttery bun. The thick-cut parmesan fries it came with were hot and fresh, but lacked a savory note; copious application of pepper fixed that. My companion’s black bean burger was better seasoned than most, and the soup of the day(a bratwurst and bean concoction) had a surprising but welcome lemony note. Prices ran slightly high. Considering the recent influx of artisanal burgers, paying $ 9 to $ 10 for one that is not is becoming increasingly indefensible. Though worthwhile, the $ 9 fried green tomatoes were also pricy for an app. Given the downtown location, however, The Worx isn’t outrageous. While it may not have the gravitas to impress across the board, The Worx has enough going for it to merit a return visit. At the very least, The Worx is not a misnomer.

Some things look better and sound better than they really are — and we ate lunch there today. The restaurant is decorated with modern, functional tables and chairs, but there are no soft edges here — even the bar chairs are straight back & aluminum. The walls are brick, the ceiling is open to the beams, and there is little light from the few wimdows. There are 5 or 6 large screen TVs, all on, all muted, at least at lunch. The food is more pub food than anything, with some attempts to upscale it — items like Truffle Fries, sandwiches on sourdough on a buttermilk bun, and a Short Rib Burger(yeap, that’s right), with a few entrée items like Crab Cakes, Steak Frites, and such. We tried the Steamed Mussel appetizer($ 10.95), and were less than impressed. There were a lot of mussels for the price, but there was little flavor, more than several of them tasted considerably less than fresh, and many were less than completely done –instead of the mussel coming out of the shell in one solid piece, it would shred because the outside was done, the inside not so much. No reorder here. The Tomato & Grilled Cheese Sandwich($ 7.95) while more reasonably price, especially considering the smaller size, was bland and watery. No reorder here as well. The Crab Cake Sandwich(ringing the bell at $ 13.95) was a decent size, but sill overpriced. There was a nice amount of crab, though the«cake» was fairly bland, and there was no structure to the cake — one bite and crab flew everywhere. The Truffled Fries which I choose as a side were just so/so. No reorder on either item. The house made Russet Potato Chips were nice, along with a good ranch type dressing — but it is hard to get too excited about a meal where the star is a potato chip. Continuing on the positive side, the service was excellent, and the diet drink was only $ 1.49. In the end, a $ 40 lunch — not close to worth it. We wont be back.
