Great food, Great Service, inexperienced Manager Had an awesome time with my wife and three small children last night. Geoff was a great server, treated my kids like human beings, 5 stars for geoff. At the end of our delicious meal I saw we were charged $ 9 each for small pizzas, not $ 5 for Kids pizzas. Not a big deal, easy to see a misunderstanding with Geoff. A manager’s responsibility then is to fix it if appropriate and smile sweetly and say«sorry about that, we’ll make sure to confirm your order next time». What I GOT was«I’ve taken care of it for you, next time could you be sure to let us know that you’re ordering for children! Thanks.» Final impression, i’ll probably eat here again, but I definitely felt chided and unwelcome by the manager, and didn’t like it.

We passed through Greensboro on the way to Virginia from the great Hill Country of Texas; and not having eaten in hours, we were in anxious need of some hearty vegan sustenance. What joy when we stumbled upon the delights of Mellow Mushroom! What joy, the fast service and unique ambiance! And what joy stemmed from the mellifluous flavors of veggie burger & roasted potato & tempeh hoagie! Heartily recharged, we set back on our way, sent off with a smile, the lasting token memory of Greensboro’s charming Mellow Mushroom. But really — great food, fast service, friendly staff — a groovy job well done.

Mellow Mushroom is always good. The pizzas and appetizers are consistently prepared well, you can always expect to find something that you will like and it will be made with great quality. I like the Red Skin Potato pie with a nice beer

One of the best chain pizza places. Period. Their pizzas are always good as are the incredibly underrated sandwiches. I especially love the shrimp hoag’boy. I also respect their trend of repurposing dilapidated properties and employing local artists and workers for re-conceiving their properties. MM is also my favorite lunch spot – I usually fly solo and sit at the bar. Fantastic beer selection and always sharp, attentive service. The Greensboro location is by far my favorite. The Burlington location has the same food, but the beer selection and service pale in comparison.

Pizzas are great, but would not recommend the calzones. They are a bit bready for my taste and take longer to come out than the pizzas. I think it was 45 min or so before our food came out and they were not busy when we stopped by for lunch.

Walk into the moped store, say hey what’s up, what’s your budget? I don’t know nothin about mopeds. It’s too real, banana seat, canopy on two wheels, 800 dollar cash? That’s a hell of a deal. Ride downtown to the Mellow Mushroom.

Mellow Mushroom in downtown Greensboro is a great place to grab a beer or a great pizza. First off, the pizza is always well made and I like that you can watch them create it in their open kitchen. I also enjoy the calzones, which tend to take a bit longer to bake, but well worth it. Their marinara sauce is perfectly sweetened and a great dipping sauce for the calzone. I have also had their salads which are large in size and the dressings are unique and fresh. I also recommend the pretzels to start or enjoy with a beer. Now the important part, their beer selection is one of the best ones downtown. We have often gone in for a beer or a cocktail before going somewhere else for dinner. They also have great lunch specials!

We come here at least once a season. We consider it a splurge restaurant since the prices are on the higher side for pizza. The atmosphere is what we really love I think. Super laid back gothic cathedral meets pizza shop/bar style. It is fun and comfortable. It can get really crowded since it is downtown and super trendy so if you hit the peak times be prepared to wait up to and including 30 to 45 minutes. The pizza crust is really delicious. It is hand tossed and slightly sweet with a great chew, while the bottom is crispy from the oven. They have super unique toppings as well as the traditional. We love their pesto. Anything with that on it is a winner. They also have a red skin potato pizza that defies logic with its awesomeness. We love to take people from our of town here to show off a fun funk side of the triad. The staff is always polite and attentive.

The atmosphere is very good. The service was also very good. We tried two different types of pizza and were very pleased with its freshness and quality of crust. It is definitely the best pizza in the area. It was very crowded but it was worth the wait

Really enjoyed my experience here. There was a super obnoxious kid sitting in the booth behind me, touching my hair and my server was cool with me moving. The pizza was some of the best I’ve ever had, and I normally don’t enjoy pizza. Will definitely be going back.

Mellow Mushroom. No inuendo intended whatsoever, I assure you. This place can go from 5 stars to 3 stars on any given night, but after having gone probably a dozen times over the past few years I had to settle on 3 stars, because the service is rarely excellent, typically bad. Bad enough to drag down the pretty good food. It really doesn’t matter how busy the place is, and that is what kills it for me, the service is usually not attentive. But I’m sure you’d never guess that in a place plastered with images of the care-free hippie lifestyle. The food is good to great, but not without its flaws. Their marinara sauce lacks the robust tomato flavor that you’d expect, especially given their focus on fresh ingredients. Even if you get tomatoes with a salad there, the tomatoes are not flavorful and generally have that pale pink color to them. Moving past the sauce, however, there are some great things. The dough is some of the best you’ll find. Consistently flavorful and dense. They make their pretzels out of it, and it is the perfect appetizer for a group. I really recommend ordering a side of «Esperanza» which is Mellow’s take on a Caesar dressing. You can dip anything in it, and the flavor just pops. In fact, mixing it with their marinara makes the marinara 10 times better. The mozzarella cheese is clearly of a high quality as well, and that is displayed also in the rest of their toppings. The actual restaurant is VERY beautiful. Stained glass windows, high ceilings, interesting chandeliers. There is also a well appointed bar chock full of interesting beers, and the restaurant layout is nice and open. But… I cannot get past the service. Drinks sit unfilled for way too long, and at critical times. You can’t just drop off a pizza and expect everyone is fine until they are ready for checks. One would imagine people drink MORE when presented with salty food. This is the norm, not the exception. On more than one occasion, I have stood up myself, walked over to the waiter station and filled my own drink. Not that I’m not totally capable, but in a place with waiters expecting tips, that isn’t acceptable. I appreciate that you’re promoting images of a carefree atmosphere with great aromas and relaxed people… but, I’m here to enjoy my dinner.

Great food, great beer, and great service! And everything is pretty consistent every time I go, so that’s even better. This time we had the salted pretzels to start which are always yummy. Then we had the House Special and the Mighty Meaty pizzas and they were delicious. Definitely recommend the Mighty Meaty if you love a true ‘all the meats’ pizza. Everything from sausage to bacon — the good bacon. So delicious!

Great atmosphere in a restored downtown building creates a cool vibe for dining. Very spacious interior and several tables available for large groups. I’ve found the pizza to be a little inconsistent with it being awesome on some visits and barely ok on others. Tonight was one of the off nights. We placed a take out order getting a pepperoni pizza, a cheese pizza, and a veggie pizza. The pepperoni was pretty good with a good amount of pepperoni, but a little more cheese would have been nice. The cheese pizza was different than expected as it was their red sauce and sprinkled Parmesan. I had kinda expected mozzarella. The veggie pizza was very thin on veggies. A few slices looked like someone had accidentally dropped an onion slice or some green pepper on it. The dough is the highlight of Mello Mushroom’s pizzas but the amount of toppings on tonight’s pizzas was very disappointing. I’ll be back to give them another try. It’s like my golf game: the next shot has the potential to be great which keeps me playing, but more pizza like tonight’s and it will be my last time, ah, eating at Mello Mushroom, not playing golf.

This Mellow Mushroom location is perhaps the coolest of the ones that I’ve visited in terms of décor, as it has lots of interesting stained glass windows and funky lighting carried over from its previous occupant. The large dining area, with its high ceiling, tends to be a little noisy, but that is something of a blessing with kids involved – outdoor dining is also an option out back in the warmer months. The pizzas and the pretzels are great, as are the sandwiches and salads – lots of vegetarian options. Particular favorites include the Kosmic Karma pizza, the garlic butter Parmesan pretzels, and the tempeh Reuben. The restaurant also has a decent beer selection. The main knocks on the place are crowding at certain times/dates(no reservations accepted, and parking on the street to the north may be lacking), hit-or-miss service, and mediocre mixed drinks. Otherwise, this is a good place to go for informal gatherings, meetings, dates, or family functions.

Cool and funky is probably the best way to describe Mellow Mushroom. Tons of beer choices, they’ll have something that fits your taste. Staff was good and took good care of us. While we were waiting on a table, I was being nosey, checking out other people’s tables seeing what they had. I saw a group that got an order of soft pretzels. I had to try them… No I didn’t take one from those people table, I ordered my own! Got the garlic parmesan, very good. As far as a pizza, we got the Maui Wowie… Jerk chicken, pineapple, ham, banana peppers, and bacon! Awesome pizza. Another good choice to get is the Bayou Bleu.

It had been quite awhile since we’d enjoyed the pizza here so we decided to change that status recently, and one of the major reasons was that delivery was now available through Dining Dash delivery service. We ordered a medium pizza with extra cheese, green pepper, and banana peppers(meant to get pepperoni but hit the wrong button, and then like a numb nut, didn’t review the order before submitting it. We also ordered Garlic Knots. The pizza was very good, with plenty of fresh, sharp tomato sauce, loads of gooey cheese, and the green peppers were freshly cut. The crust, while a little thicker than my favorite type, is also very tasty. The Garlic Knots were excellent, nice & chewy with great flavor. Love the delivery option — we’ll be getting some more pies and such.

Really more a 3.5 — it’s a cool spot on the artsy/hipster side of Elm, has nice ambiance, good pizza and a great selection of good beer on draft. Ordered a couple small pies and mine was very good, but Katie’s was not as enjoyable as the crust had somehow gotten rather soggy. I think it may have gotten a little undercooked as she got the veggie special, which was loaded with toppings and may have needed a bit more time to get thoroughly cooked. Also started off with an app of the«pretzels» which is just their crust formed into the shape of pretzels — got it dusted with garlic butter and parmesan and they were delicious. Comes with a nice side of sauce for dipping. Service was good, prices are a little high. If all you’re after is good pizza, I still think Elizabeth’s is the best in town.

I’ve heard a lot about Mellow Mushroom over the years but never had the opportunity to try it out until the birthday dinner of one of my friends. The Mellow Mushroom in gboro has a very nice local beer selection… with Red Oak being my drink of choice for the night. I ordered the small Holy Shiitake Pie. The pizza had a white sauce base, three different kinds of mushrooms, caramelized onions, two different kinds of cheeses, truffle oil and garlic aioli. For $ 13, I was expecting a masterpiece… and it did not disappoint. The small pizza is 10″, which is a little larger than personal sized. I was only able to eat 2.5 slices and I shared the rest with the hubby and my friend because I knew they were eyeing my pizza and are both fellow mushroom lovers. The Holy Shittake Pie has a ton of flavor and a crisp crust. The caramelized onions were actually caramelized to a deep golden brown. Most restaurants fail at ever achieving the«caramelized» stage, which makes onions amazingly delicious. Our waiter did a nice job at handling our rowdy dinner crowd. He was friendly and professional. The restaurant did begin to fill up halfway through our meal and we saw him less frequently towards the end of our dinner. I never had an issue with anything I needed, but a couple other people at the table may have. The inside of Mellow Mushroom has a cool vibe. I love all the multiple Gothic style chandeliers and stained glass throughout the dining room. I was definitely eyeing the birthday girl’s portobello & cheese hoagie. I will definitely return to try more of the menu offerings.

We visited here for a friend’s birthday dinner. We had a party of 8, and was seated immediately. The restaurant is a decent size and has ample seating. Parking is an issue though as this business is located downtown and has virtually no parking. I ordered a steak calzone and a bud light, cause they go hand in hand. The calzone was cooked perfectly and had a fair amount of ingredients. My gripe with it was it lacked sufficient flavor, both the calzone and the sauce served with it. I did try some of my wife’s pizza and immediately regretted not getting that over the calzone. They have a pretty decent beer selection, both draft and bottles. Our waiter was friendly, but would have long gaps in time where our drinks would be empty. The longest gap was while we were waiting for the bill, approximately 15 minutes, before we could get his attention. I’ll probably return to get there pizza, which I should have gotten in the first place.
