After visiting at the hospital we were looking for a good Mexican place for lunch. After reading reviews we stopped by here and we are SO glad we did! It’s definitely a hole in the wall and don’t expect to get chips & salsa, but that leaves room to try other things! The homemade tortillas and quesadillas are amazing(we’d eat them plain)! Our highest ranking fillings for both were asada, el pastor, chorizo & barbacoa. The red and green sauces were so good too. To sum up «Mmmmmmmm!» We will visit again!

Great hole in the wall mexican restaurant. In a very sketchy location, but I felt safe going there during daytime. But you know it’s good when just Mexicans are sitting there and enjoying a meal(ever see them at chains like Plaza Azteca or Mi Cabana?). Definitely have more selections than my other favorite Mario’s Tacos, but the tacos here were not as great(still good though). Some tables weren’t clean couple times we were there.

Best mexican food in greenville that would give any taco shop in the USA a run for it’s money. Breakfast burrito with chorizo is a gut buster. Eat one in the AM and you are good until dinner. AL Pastor is great too. Prices are reasonable a touch. This place is a touch above Mario ’ s tacos… don’t let the area scare you.

To give this place 5 stars just because it’s authentic is a bit of a stretch. What you’ll find here is your typical taqueria fare, with counter service. Chicken taco was decent, if small. Gorditas were lacking, though. Mushroom gordita had no seasoning, and I couldn’t taste the cheese. The arepa was a bit dry. Chicken gordita was about the same. Cleanliness of the place was generally OK. So … food was just OK, nothing special, and certainly nothing I’d come back for. When it comes to taquerias, I’ve definitely had better.

This place has awesome authentic Mexican food. From the hand made tortillas to the rice and beams! I am a white boy and I love this place and will be back!

Ok, I was drawn to that place because of the impeccable reviews. The place is less than appealing, I almost turned around and headed the other way. I ordered the beef tip taco, the flavor was bland I had to use hot suace to make it flavorful, the beef tips were rubbery, I had to swallow them as whole cause you can’t chew threw them. And the size is almost a tapas size.

So good. Authentic central Mexican food in Greenville! need to get something with their homemade tortillas. Al pastor is awesome.

Solid, authentic Mexican food. Little out of the way, but delicious. It’s always the hole in the wall, family run places like this with the best food.

From someone who grew up in SoCal and is used to authentic Mexican food, this is one helluva place. Typical Mexican taco shop or taqueria with great food in the most unlikely place — Greenville!

Once again, I must qualify just a bit to say that this is 5 stars in Greenville, NC context, perhaps 4+ in SF. But the huitlacoche and flor de calabaza(squash blossom) quesadillas on homemade tortillas were as good as any I have had in the States. Super friendly and polite folks working there. I am most definitely going tomorrow for breakfast and maybe sopa for lunch… Extra points for no blaring TV and no music.

If you like authentic Mexican then is the place for you. this is not an Americanized place. Not chips and salsa when you sit down! Real Mexican food!

This was some of the most authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. And no, I’m not a fan of Chico’s or Taco Bell. :P I ordered the shrimp tacos and my boyfriend ordered the fajitas. Both were fresh and delicious. The rice was made very well and everything is made from scratch(even the tortillas). Yeah, the décor is simple and the outside looks plain and uninviting, but it’s the food that counts! Go to El Azador and your tastebuds won’t regret it!

I lived in Mexico for a while and when I returned to the US I was so put off by «Mexican» food that I taught myself how to make it rather than suffer through a meal at an «authentic» Mexican restaurant. That said, I’m hooked on El Azador. I’m limiting myself to once a week because otherwise I’d be there every day. I can’t wait to try their breakfast!

This is not your typical college town Mexican restaurant. Echoing previous Unilocalers — don’t let the décor put you off. The staff is gracious, tacos are pressed and griddled to order, and the variety of authentic meats(chorizo, barbacoa, carne asada, pollo, and tripa) offers options from mild to wild. The salsa verde is great and there are two other kinds of hot sauce on the table in case you like to live dangerously. Quesadillas are killer. Plenty of cheese and the tortillas get nice and crispy on the griddle. Could be that they’re made with love. And lard. Breakfast is served on weekends, so go get yourself a platter of scrambled eggs with chorizo. It comes with a side of beans, rice, and some little corn tortillas to assemble your own breakfast roll-ups.

Oh my god. The chorizo is crazy good and the homemade tortillas are so awesome. I highly recommend the chorizo tacos or a chorizo quesadilla. This is our first visit here and we’re planning on coming back whenever we’re in Greenville.

I used to think mario’s was the best mexican in town. I was wrong. It’s El Azador. Here you pay for your food, not the ambiance.

We ate lunch here yesterday. It was amazing! The tortillas are homemade. The service was fast and the server was lovely! I wandered in by chance but was very glad to have arrived!

This place is awesome. It is the real deal. As other reviewers have stated, everything is prepared fresh and very authentic. My wife and I try to stop by this place anytime we are in Greenville. We love the whole chicken with their delicious tortillas and fresh salsas. They make fresh aguas frescas everyday as well. I also love the sopes. If you love real Mexican food, you won’t be disappointed.

I’m only dropping one star from my rating because in my opinion, Super Mercado beat them by a little bit on flavor and choices. This is however a good place to get authentic Mexican food — as one review said, it’s not Taco Bell. Is it worth a visit? Yes. The service is good. It is very casual, so don’t expect a restaurant with cushy booths.

This is not your local Taco Bell. This is about as authentic as it comes. Don’t let the DISCRETE location throw you off. Park your car, step inside, and just take a quick scan around the place, and you will know you have come to the right place. The taco skins are hand made from scratch right in the kitchen before heat it on the slab. The menu has Spanish name, with English translation. You pick your dish and then fun begins, because you get a variety cuts of meat to choose from: the *chorizo* is full of spices, beef *tips*/*tongue*/*barbecue* are all very flavorful, and you even get *tripa* if adventurous. Still don’t know what you want to order? Let me help you then. Here’s the lowdown: 1. Caldos de res is a giant bowl of broth soup with beef short ribs 2. Huaraches you can think of it as Mexican pizza; here you can order with fried eggs on top, and trust me you would want to 3. If you love your chicken, just order ½ pollo 4. For some true authenticity, go for my usual taco trio: lengua, tripa, chicharron 5. Pay attention to the white board! Any specials on there are guarantee to be good After a few meals here, I promise you cannot even stand to go back to Chico’s, let alone Taco Bell, no matter how hungry you get at 2 o’clock in the morning.
