I was disappointed with Nantucket. I felt that the service was rushed and not up to par with previous experience at Rick Irwin’s steakhouse. I have no complaints about the food. I had the blackened swordfish and it was delicious. The muscles and calamari were also excellent. The hostess took awhile to seat us and the seating was uncomfortable.

If you like a three hour dining experience, beginning with a one hour wait from seating till appetisers to arrive… After it took 45 minutes for a drink order to be delivered… Then this is the place for you. Mother’s Day was not so merry as there were ten of us including four children ranging in age from 3 to 11. We should have noted that something was amiss when the line to valet was backed clear up to Main street. The garage serving the Marriott where this’s is located had a sign“Event parking $ 20. Yes we paid $ 20.00 because the free valet was going to take at least 15 minutes and we were blocking the street. It is a side 2 lane street. We had a 5:15 reservation and were seated promptly. From then on it was all downhill. When the waiter begins your evening with a five minute apology about it taking so long. Run don’t walk to the exit. When the appetisers arrive I said to please go ahead and bring my salad as it was now way past an hour since we sat down! When the entrees came out at the 2 hour mark I told them to forget the salad. One of our party did not receive their entrée till the rest of us were practically through! The waiter said the manager, who we did not request to see, said give them free desserts. Big mistake as it took 35 minutes from the time we ordered them till they arrived. The bread and appetisers were delicious but the trio seafood special which four of us ordered had gritty scallops; over cooked lobster and mushy crab cake. It was a terrible excuse for a $ 680 meal. And yes they forgot to take off the $ 9 spinach salad that never made it to the table in 3 whole hours. The positive? My grandchildren were delightful and well behaved. Rick Erwin’s Nantucket disaster should be ashamed to open their doors. The manager, whom we never asked for, should be replaced be cause any table with four children who is there past a couple of hours should have a courtesy check. He was too busy setting tables. Something is rotten in downtown Greenville… And it’s not just the poorly cooked lobsters either!

Great food, good service, and a lovely ambiance! Nantucket is the perfect place for seafood in downtown Greenville.

Elegant yet comfortable and relaxed. Deliciously prepared brunch items that were replenished often. The highlight of the brunch is the shrimp and grits. This southern classic is prepared with savory light sauce and a fluffy texture which makes the best version I have ever had. Lox and bagels, fresh mozzarella salad lend variety while the well crafted creamy Mac and Cheese, another southern specialty, is unmatched. $ 18 pp, very reasonable, well worth it. Better than Soby’s and the Roost brunch. I would say the one draw back is(and if you read other reviews, you’ll see this is a sad trend) the service of certain servers. I have gone to dinner here and had impeccable service and other servers at the brunch I noticed were very good but ours was not. I was finished eating my first sampling before my husband had go to the server out of his chair and remind him to bring our Sangrias. Not a deal breaker on this lazy Sunday but at another occassion, I would have been very disatisfied.

We had the brunch and it was delicious! Smoked salmon was perfect as well as the hash brown casserole. Filipe was our server and the service and atmosphere was top shelf as it always is at Rick Erwin’s. I really enjoyed the shrimp & grits. Do not leave without trying the mixed berry cobbler! We walked up and were able to be seated but I highly recommend reservations for brunch or dinner. We spent the night in the Marriott here and it’s a great getaway destination. Hope you enjoy it, my wife and I did.

We were hoping for an enjoyable evening meal at Nantucket to celebrate my wife’s birthday but things rapidly went down hill. Our reception was«matter of fact» which I would classify as second class. Once seated at our table our waiter arrived and attempted to take our order which he got wrong. We ordered a bottle of wine but after a wait, the waiter reported that the wine was not in stock. Fine! All of this activity took about one hour and there did not appear to be any progress to get our meal. I noted that other tables around us that had arrived after us were progressing with their meal. At this point we mentioned to the manager the poor quality of service and requested that something done about this situation. When the new wine selection arrive the waiter proceeded to spill wine while attempting to pour a glass for my wife. At this point management stepped in to provide us with a new server which proved to be a significant step up. However at this point the evening was lost. After recently spending three days in NYC visiting similar class restaurants and price range the Nantucket experience was sadly lacking. I should have first checked with Unilocal before booking our reservation.

I’m going to give my experience at Nantucket two stars(in lieu of one) so you take it seriously and not as a rant of some extreme food raver… but understand that we frequent restaurants of this caliber quite often and we are well aware of exceptional experiences, average experiences and below par experiences… this one was the latter… here goes. I’ll set the stage. Out-of-towner’s on a trip to Greenville. Party of 6, reserved through OpenTable, Saturday night. Reservations for 8 pm, we showed up at 8:15, OpenTable showed us as a party of 5, but Nantucket made that a fine table for party of 6, no problem. So far, so good. We’ve been flying all day, a little tired, menu looks great. Nice choices. Great atmosphere. Nice table in the corner next to window looking out onto the beautiful courtyard. Fairly long wait before we see our waiter. That’s a hint to the rest of our night. It’s 8:30, waiter shows up, we’re a little tired from traveling, we just want to order, and he was way more interested in upselling us to the highest price items on the menu than listening to us. Why NOT get the $ 120 seafood tower appetizer, right? Here’s where it goes bad… We put in a fairly simple drink order and we ask to also place our menu order at that time. He says, «I’ll come back for that, let me give the bar a chance to get in your drink order first.» We ordered one bottle of wine and one extra glass of wine. How hard is that? And we ordered no appetizers. It seems like we did actually get to see our waiter every 20 – 30 minutes after that. Wha? Is that service. Cut to the end of the story… our entrees arrived about 9:50. Yes, ONEHOURAND35MINUTESAFTERWEWERESEATED… with one drink order and no appetizers. Multiple tables who arrived after us had already received their multiple drink rounds, appetizers and entrees before we ever saw food at our table. As a preface to this, shortly before 9:50 I found the manager and stated our dilemma. She said she would make it right. In her estimation I think that meant a reprimand for her kitchen and wait staff — little help to me, I’ll be gone as soon as I can finish the entre! I should have been clear and requested«an adjustment.» They did adjust the bill a tiny bit, but not worth the enormous hassle of waiting an unreasonable amount of time for our food. So, no not a big help to our party. The food was outstanding, I might add… don’t disparage the quality… but not worth it, at any price. Especially because I sensed that our waiter was very irritated that we called him out for exceptionally poor treatment. He brought the food to the table with a smile, but an insincere«you ratted me out» kind of smile. Bad, bad experience. So sorry to say that. It’s a beautiful establishment and the food was very, very good. Top notch. But we felt like second-class citizens. No one should have to feel like that in any restaurant.

Beautiful rooms, good bar scene. Food is very good but a bit pricey. Superb service, a little over exuberant to sell you something you don’t want. That could be just me.

Final night in Greenville. Nantucket’s is in the Courtyard Marriott and its Furman’s homecoming. We were hesitant at first about the wait– but HOLYCOW– well worth the wait. We ordered some fresh blue point oysters and the grouper. It was absolutely fantastic. Very upset we didn’t eat here earlier in our stay. The grouper was cooked perfectly and the potato cake was phenomenal. I highly recommend!!!

Plan your stay in Greenville so you can have Sunday Brunch here! It would have to be the BEST-value, variety and quality! I don’t know of anywhere else you can have this much delicious food for $ 18! If you are in the mood for breakfast or lunch it’s all here! «You have to try this!» went on and on. the chicken salad, the omelette station, the she-crab soup, the breakfast casserole, the Bloody Mary, the desserts… We will make a point to get back!

Really a two star, but I gave it three due to the beautifully appointed rooms. The place is really very nice and as you walk in you have the feeling that of will have a fantastic experience all around. Unfortunately, the food is average at best for the advertised level of this place and the cost. Their website says it has been voted Best Seafood in South Carolina. Well, wonder what those who voted got, because what I got was ok, but not close to the best in South Carolina. Disclaimer, we lived in the Boston area for several decades so we know what good seafood is supposed to look and taste like. Believe me, this is not it and find other restaurants in Greenville to have better seafood than this. This was our first visit, and good thing we came with friends that made up for the uninspiring food. I started with the mussels. I got a very generous looking plate of mussels topped with two pieces of grilled baguette. Looked very nice, the bread was crispy and tasty. The actual mussels minuscule and the sauce very bland. I have had such great mussels around… like at Bin 110 and Trattoria Giorgio for example. Those had a very tasty broth that invited you to lick the plate, but you had to settle by taking every drop with the provided baguette. So, having had some great tasting mussels as close as a block away, I was disappointed with this ones. My main course was the Seafood Pasta, hey, you are at a Seafood place so why not. Had high expectations, specially after seeing the very nice presentation of what was placed in front of me. This one was better than the mussels, but found it did not matched the look of it. The pasta(ziti) was way overcooked, I mean many mutes beyond all dente which is something you expect at a place of this advertised quality and level(clearly not cooked to order). The scallops looked great, but they had a funny consistency. Shrimp very good, sauce ok. Desserts looked very nice and the Crème brûlée tasted very nice. They have a very nice selection of wines and beers, point on that one. Overall, not a fan and will not return — maybe in a year or so to see if they got better, but for the price you have many options around that betas this one hands down. PS. I am a big fan of Rick Erwin’s Deli… try it, I am certain you will find it very good. Of course, this one is a complete different experience and level, but wanted to clarify that I have nothing against Mr. Erwin.

This is a bold statement, but I think Nantuckets is the best restaurant I have ever been to. Since there are so few cons I’ll start with those. Cons: I have no cons Pros: the service is the best I have ever had. The waiters know the food and wines to a surprising degree and can answer any question you throw at them. Some of them are ex-chefs and are very knowledgeable about the food in that regard. The food is fantastic. Although Nantuckets is not on the coast, their seafood is light years better than anything I’ve had in the east, west, or gulf coasts. The blackened grouper is out of this world good. They always have at least three types of oysters and can help you choose which one(s) you’d enjoy. Definitely try the crispy broccoli florets and macaroni n cheese sides. For some reason most nice restaurants seem to play either trashy music belonging to a McDonald’s lobby or painfully pretentious classical music that doesn’t always leave one feeling good about life after dinner. However, Nantuckets plays a great jazz mix spanning several decades of music. The noise level is always low which is great for talking. They have a delicious brunch on Sunday’s. It used to be by menu which I preferred, but now it’s a buffet. This is nice because you can try some of everything, but I think the quality of food is a bit lower because of it. I’ve never had a problem getting reservations the day of here, but I’d probably call ahead just to be safe as they sometimes host large parties.

This was quite tasty. if you aren’t dressed up, be prepared to be escorted to the bar or to the patio. This was fine — who really dresses any more? The bread was served warm & the butter sank in. The service was fantastic! The Lobster Bites as an appetizer had just the right amount of spice. Loved the corn risotto that accompanied the crab cakes. My partner devoured the surf & turf — judging by the fact that I wasn’t able to sample even a morsel this tells me that it was delectable.

Beautiful atmosphere, although sitting in the courtyard is a real treat if the weather is suitable. Nice wine selection & the seafood tower is bountiful & mouthwatering, not to mention a gorgeous presentation! The Fish dishes are expertly prepared, and the soups are wonderful if you want lighter fare.

Bad food and worse management assistance with bad food at Nantucket. We are in Greenville every 4 – 6 weeks and always eat at Rick Erwins and love it but Nantucket is not even close After traveling all day we decided the bar at Nantucket would be easy for dinner since we stay at the Courtyard in the same building. My wife ordered fried green tomatoes. They were mostly red. I ordered the mussels which previously were good on a past trip but tonight they were tiny almost nonexistent and about 6millimeters or less than a half inch long. We told the bartender and a manager showed up that acted like he knew he needed to do something but not exactly what. He was a joke and did not offer anything. We ate the tomatoes and Mussels because we were ravished but it does not change the fact that the tomatoes were red and mussels tiny. We then went to Tupelo Honey and the food was much better. The bartenders are OK but did not take care of the problem. Go to Rick Erwins where they will know how to take care of customers not this place.

Very poor experience recently at NAntucket Seems the entire staff has turned over and it is really impacting service. In short — server brought wrong bottle of wine, then argued with us that it was wrong. Spent another 10 minutes looking for the correct wine — it was one of their 5 bottles highlighted on the menu. Food took forever to come out and only came out after we asked about it — then my steak came out cold — I sent it right back and my GF’s salad came out with no dressing. We asked for our check and left. I’ve been to Nantucket close to 25 – 30 times over the last couple years. The past couple visits have been noticeable worse. I think this was our last visit.

Expensive. But so worth it. This is our go-to special occasion restaurant. Pros: Excellent seafood! I always order the scallops and they are always wonderful. Never gritty. The lobster bisque is perfect. The Peanut Butter cake is to die for! Seriously. Eat it. You never wait for assistance, you are surrounded by waitstaff in some form or fashion. Extensive wine list. We’ve never had a disappointing meal. We’ve also gone for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. Cons: Seriously dark in the dining room. Hard to read the menu in the dim lighting. We visited the bar one evening and they have no working blender so you can’t get anything frozen/blended. THAT was a MAJOR disappointment for me personally.

Let me preface my remarks by noting that it was Parent’s Weekend at Furman University, no doubt resulting in an exceptionally large demand for dining options. Our reservation was for a party of four at 8:15. Upon checking in we were told that«things were running a little late» with no estimate of how long the delay would be. They were utilizing three girls at the desk and it appeared that there was very little communication or coordination among them. We opted to stay close in an effort to be seated in a timely fashion. We were told at 8:30 that they were preparing our table. We were seated at 8:50. When asked if they had a gluten-free menu, the waiter said they did not and that«it’s pretty self-explanatory» which dishes might contain gluten. It was apparent that he did not have a clear understanding of the requirements of gluten sensitive customers and really didn’t care. This attitude essentially limited my wife’s choices to basic meat, potatoes, and plain vegetables. Even so, she had a mild gluten reaction. I feel sure this waiter doesn’t understand the importance of notifying the chef of gluten intolerance. This is an expensive restaurant with an elegant atmosphere and to have the waiter stand in one place with us sort of shouting the orders too him across the table was a little strange to say the least. We started with a dozen blue point oysters, which were as tasty as any I have ever had. Unfortunately, they were delivered without oyster forks. A server eventually wandered into the dining room carrying four oyster forks. He looked around, didn’t make it as far as our table and disappeared. I finally had to get up and go to the serving station to get them sent to the table! One final observation on the service: if you’re going to have servers deliver the food to the tables, make certain they know where they are going. Someone tried to serve us sea bass, which no one had ordered. When they did bring our meals, they had no idea what went where. Now to the good news. The preparation of all the food was superb. The filet was a perfect«rare». Blackened swordfish was very good and served with an outstanding garnish. Sea scallops were delightful. Everything on the seafood platter was wonderful – my only comment is that with everything fried, the overall presentation is too«brown». The crème brûlée and peanut butter and chocolate cake were both delicious, but no one asked if we wanted coffee. I hope it was due to the busy weekend that the front end staff so glaringly underperformed. It sorely detracted from the superior production from the kitchen.
