It feels like there are Rick Erwin restaurants popping up everywhere, but of all that I’ve been to this one mostly closely mimics the quality of the one in downtown Greenville. Everything we had was perfect. Calamari, surf and turf, crème brûlée… The only complaint was that twice my plate was scooped out from under me before I was ready! I was caught up in conversation with friends and the next thing I knew my half-eaten brûlée was gone. You’d think I would’ve been paying more attention after that best bite of filet I was saving for last was pulled away before I could object. They lost a star for that but otherwise it was worth every penny. I’ll be back, but I’ll be on high alert next time!

Celebrating my birthday and from the time I walked in to the time I left the experience was amazing. The hostess wished me a happy birthday, the wait staff was absolutely awesome, my waitress Autumn was so friendly and explained the menu and was helpful in offering recommendations.

Seriously disappointed! It seems that this restaurant group had extended their selves too far. We’ve eaten at the location downtown multiple times and have always enjoyed the staff, food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, at the east side location the staff, food and patrons are seriously lacking. We were very disappointed in the knowledge of the menu from the staff, salad was drenched in dressing as milk in cheerios, the food was over salted/seasoned as if they were trying to hide its freshness. We ordered 2 salads, 2 entrees and 3 sides and didn’t come close to finishing any, except the water which was continuously refreshed like a living fountain. And, unfortunately the reason we didn’t finish the food wasn’t because of the portion size was too large; it was because the food wasn’t that good. SALT was the main taste i had that evening and i woke up the next morning still upset with a salty taste in my mouth .The table of four behind us continued to loudly throw the F-bomb as if we were chilling in McDs splitting a $ 5 value meal. The waiter informed us that we should ask for a booth next time. It was a sad occasion. I was so excited that we didn’t have to go downtown to have a great meal but unfortunately I just threw away $ 150 and should have gone to Chophouse. P. S. Sorry for the addition but posting market value for your woody untrimmed Asparargus at $ 12 is a joke and an insult to your patrons and original location.

Two of us ate some apps at the bar. My friend tipped me off to the sliders– 3 for $ 9 and delicious. They are a great deal. We also split the shrimp and of course I had to try the side of Mac and cheese. All good. Service good. Regular bar atmosphere.

I arrived for a much anticipated dinner on Valentine’s Day and I must say that this place was 5 star from the warm welcome we received coming in. The place has and intimate feel and the music that serenades the place make you feel like someone is playing a live piano. The food was excellent ! We had the The Surf and Turf and the steak was very tender and the lobster was tasty. If you want to dress up and go to a very classy place for anniversary or special occasion this place is sure to wow them. It’s a bit pricey but this is not a place that you would go on the regular it’s a special place. I don’t recommend bringing the kids it’s not a family spot in my opinion. Overall the service and food was great and I would recommend this place to anyone. I don’t give a 5 star to many restaurants but this one is deserving for sure.

My wife and I dined her on Friday before Valentine’s Day. We were somewhat concerned as my wife had heard that tables were very close together(which she hates) and that the dining experience was impacted negatively as a result. This was not our experience. My wife called ahead and requested more private seating. We were accommodated and our dining experience was EXCELLENT. Our server, Christina, was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. We will request her on future visits. Our appetizers, wedge salad and she crab soup were good. The crab cakes were PHENOMENAL. We have had crab cakes in Maryland and other places where they are«famous» but none compare to these. There was minimal but flavorful filling and mountains of delicious crab in very bite. My wife’s lobster tail was great and my 11 oz. filet was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The peanut butter torte dessert was FANTASTIC!!! My wife raved to the server and general manager about how much better our dining experience and food were compared to Hall’s. I have to agree with this assessment. We simultaneously decided that we have found«our spot»… Proximity to our home is the cherry on top of this gem. We will return to Rick Erwin’s Eastside regularly going forward. One of the Best Overall dining experiences in Greenville.

Trying too hard to be Ruth’s Chris and/or Morton’s. Average food: not great, not horrible. Below average service. Wouldn’t return or recommend the restaurant.

Last week was our third visit since REE opened. The food and service were once again great. We called and got last minute reservations. Our waiter, Connor, was attentive and made great suggestions including wine and dessert. We will be back.

Very disappointed in the patronizing tone of voice of the owner… Would never give him another dime to support his restaurant when there are so many other choices…

I’ve always loved this place but tonight was not the best. Every restaurant has an off night so this is not the norm. Service was great.:thank you Autumn!!! Food was also great as usual, however if you post on social media that you have fresh King Crab legs from Alaska for two weeks and then a few days later you’re already out… not cool. We specifically went to dinner for those and after apps and wine found out there were no more left… frustrating. Only other issue was the cheesecake that was served frozen… after a $ 500 dinner for two people, I expect more! Shared frustrations with server multiple times and never saw a manager.

My husband took me to Eastside for my birthday. Dinner was adequate but not up to the standard we had enjoyed at the other Rick Erwin restaurants. After trying to put us in a small room where a large party was gathered, then at a table by the kitchen, I finally requested a corner where we could enjoy a quiet conversation together. The bread was served piping hot but the dipping vinegar was not interesting at all. My Caesar salad was simply large leaves of lettuce, a few shreds of cheese and a bit of dressing that needed seasoning, A one star rating. The lamb chops were delicious but the accompanying fava beans and tasso were barely warm. My husband had the bisque and scallops, enjoying his dinner completely. The servers were attentive and even brought my husband a paid of reading glasses as he had forgotten his. Overall, I was disappointed with the food and hope this location will improve to meet the high quality of the other Erwin restaurants.

Last night, my husband and I had invited good friends from Woodruff to join us for dinner at Rick Erwin’s Eastside. They had heard us rave about it, and the location was convenient for them to meet us there. On our previous 4 visits there, the service and food quality equaled the downtown location, but on this visit, neither was up to what we have learned to expect– thus, the 3 star review. Our waiter seemed to have his mind elsewhere, was either way overly attentive, or no where to be found. For an example, we ordered cappuccinos, and he brought us expressos. It took a while, but he finally brought us what we had ordered. The food was not up to par. First, the entrees took over 30 minutes to appear after salad plates were removed. The salmon was to be cooked«medium», but came out well done, dry and hard crusts on the edges. The seafood trio with risotto, was too salty. The filet was supposed to be medium well, but came out well done. I hope this was just an «off» night for one of our favorite restaurants, but to have so many disappointments left a bad taste in our mouths!

Cassie was our server, and she was wonderful. The beverages were fine, sweet tea was good, wine selection appeared to be good, but the star, of course, was the food. We started with the Calamari which I don’t order very much. It was good, quite good, lightly breaded and very tasty. My wife had a surf and turf, perfectly cooked, juicy, tasty, whereas I had shrimp and clam pasta. There were 6 nicely-sized shrimp, with six clams… perhaps that could be upped to 8… very, very tasty and very fresh. Quite good. Expensive, yes, but sometimes you need to splurge a bit, and Cassie was great! Loved her.

WOW… what an enjoyable evening at Rick Erwin’s Eastside. We were there with family to celebrate my 50th birthday and I was a bit reluctant at first about eating there since I’m trying to only eat a plant based diet. As you can see from the menu… there’s not much without dairy or meat. I called that afternoon and explained to Cara my situation and she didn’t flinch a moment… and said that she’d be happy to have chef speak with me upon my arrival. The chef came out and spoke with both my husband and myself and he served us an amazing meal. The rest of the family enjoyed all of their beautiful entrees as well. Our server was gracious with us and to my surprise there was a birthday card on the table from the staff. I would highly recommend you go and enjoy an evening there with your friends and family.

So happy to see RE on the Eastside… love the staff and service standard downtown. I was with a party of 3 and business colleagues. My first complaint is over service. We had reservations at 6 and we felt rushed the moment we sat down. After we ordered cocktails, we wanted to settle in and get reacquainted and not directly order our dinner. This was a business dinner so we had things we wanted to discuss. Our waitress interrupted us 4 times and we finally rushed to order our dinner. We ordered Caesar salads and steaks. The salads had a watered down dressing, no cheese, and frankly quite boring. We all agreed the steaks were ok. During dinner and finishing up, we had servers and attendants coming by and picking up every crumb that fell. Each time one of us took a sip of water, someone was coming by to fill our glass. When one plate was empty, another person came to pick it up, instead of waiting until all of us were finished(which were close to the same time). Seems there were more servers then people in our dining room and they circled around us like vultures. There is nothing more annoying then trying to conduct business conversation at a fine dining place such as this, and being harassed, interrupted and distracted from the moment you sit down. We were in and out of the restaurant in an hour and 15 minutes. We spent 30 minutes outside at our cars finishing our business conversation, because we were too rushed to finish in the dining room… This is not the standard at the downtown location and I hope that this location will get it. The restaurant is beautiful and inviting, but the service needs to be trained better. Paying $ 350 for a business dinner doesn’t deserve service like I would get at Outback.

Amazing food for a great night out, and you don’t have to go down town to fight for parking. Best of all, the bar has every high end liquor you might want.

I will admit I was shocked when Coal Fired Bistro closed. However, I will also admit to being very pleasantly surprised by what took it’s place. Rick Erwin’s Eastside is a gem in an unassuming strip mall on Pelham Road. Walking in, there are subtle changes. Gone are the wine tower and the fire behind the bar. The elegant granite bar remains and there are areas to dine both to the left and right. Ambiance is still perfect for either a business dinner or date night albeit the space is a touch more modern than it used to be. We gathered at the bar waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. Service was friendly and quick. The house Cabernet was quite delicious. I loved the house made chips served a the bar. Great start to an even better evening! Our party of 8 was seated for dinner and began perusing the menu. Nearly everyone agreed trying the Beef Tartare was the way to go. The beef was rich and tender, further accentuated by the soft egg yolk and Dijon. Delicious on the flatbread or just on it’s own. The shrimp cocktail and pâté were also declared delicious. I was lucky enough to sit next to the person who ordered the roasted beet salad. The whipped herb goat cheese and balsamic glaze were the perfect accompaniment. If you like beets, I highly recommend this dish. Nearly everyone at the table ordered steak — most the center cut tenderloin. My boss was practically begging someone to share the porterhouse for two. This was a 36-ounce, dry-aged hunk of beef. To be honest, it was a thing of beauty if you like beef and with the company footing the bill, who was I to say no especially when he enjoys beef at a perfect medium rare. We didn’t come close to finishing although we gave it a valiant effort. Lovely char… the béarnaise we ordered with was light and whipped rather than a heavy sauce — a wonderful, truly delicious choice. Sides are a la carte and I can’t say enough about the creamed spinach. This wasn’t the typical slop served at other restaurants. The spinach was flavorful, not the least bit soupy and just plain delicious. The roasted wild mushrooms added a wonderful earthy flavor to the meal. The wine list seemed fairly impressive. We went through several bottles of Franciscan Cabernet. This was a full-bodied, dry, and intense Cabernet Sauvignon with hints of fruit and vanilla at a most reasonable price. Service was impeccable. Glasses were never empty, dishes were cleared quickly and the servers were not only professional, but friendly and personable. Everyone’s meal was perfect and not a single glitch all night. What a delight to meet Rick Erwin as well and be able to tell him what an enjoyable experience we had. We dined on a Wednesday night and by the time we left, the place was packed. I highly recommend making reservations. I can only hope I have the opportunity to visit again when I return to Greenville. For a restaurant that has been open less than a month, all I can say is WOW! I am impressed and know I don’t have to worry about my new favorite closing it’s doors!
