my quesadilla was supposed to be a seasonal vegetable quesadilla, I suppose I figured it would be a typical onion tomato quesadilla ended up being a carrot, broccoli cauliflower and mushroom quesadilla tasting nothing like a quesadilla and being overpower with vegetables, was honestly not good at all. That could be a tastebud issue but I had a difficult time with the taste of it . The nachos were great and the people were awesome so I would just caution about asking what the seasonal vegetables are before ordering which I stupidly didn’t do! But the customer service says a lot to me and the guys were super nice!

Let’s start with this musty, tiny, and disgusting hole in the wall. Filthy. The server«Aurora» was one of the rudest, touching her hair and then the food she brought to the tables, people we’ve ever come into contact with at a restaurant. After we let her know of our concern, she proceeded to get up on her high horse and tell us she is the owner and she will do whatever she wants in HER restaurant. Now the food, let’s just say gross. Just another over cheddar cheesed plate with no flavor. Needless to say, as an appalled business owner, I won’t be taking my family back to that tiny, tacky establishment. I would have given 0 stars but it wasn’t possible. For health reasons and lack of flavor and definitely poor service STAYAWAY!

The food at this restaurant is really good. It seems more authentic than most Mexican restaurants. The service and drinks are great as well. My family and I have gone to Agave Azul a handful of times and will continue to go back. I really like how they serve a warm small tortilla with beans opposed to chips and salsa.

Prompt and friendly staff. Enjoyed not filling up on endless chips and salsa routine. Made us appreciate our dinner more. Did enjoy the complimentary small bean tortilla with salsa. Hubbie had nachos and I had a beef burrito. So big had another dinner to go home. Like the homey atmosphere. Will dine again. Mole sauce looks yummy on Unilocal pictures.

This is not your Americanized Mexican food restaurant. So if you’re expecting chips and salsa rushed to your table you’ve come to the wrong place. Rellenos are the best I’ve had. My friend always orders fajitas and thinks they are also the best. If you are in the area and want Mexican food you should definitely give Agave Azul a try. And there margaritas aren’t bad either.

Quaint inside, super friendly service, and super delicious food! Having Hispanic in laws has raised the bar on my Mexican food expectations permanently. This little gem delivered on the food… starting with an unexpected flour tortilla with beans and cheese served to us as we sat down instead of chips and salsa. Bueno!

The service was attentive and helpful. The prices are very reasonable. The bean and cheese burrito appetizer is a unique idea but do wish you had other options. The atmosphere is clean, upbeat, good lighting, sports playing on the TV in the bar, video poker machines, well stocked bar and decent parking. The food was good but didn’t blow me away. We would return.

Well it’s been a while since we’ve gone here or to any mexican restaurant actually. The food is very rich and full of calories so we don’t indulge so much in the cuisine. We got to thinking about the chile relleno they have here though and that’s what we ordered. That and their fish tacos. Time has been good to them I must say thank goodness. The rellenos are STILL to die for and the best we’ve had anywhere else. They are smoky, fresh and the sauce is killer but does not overwhelm the whole plate. They don’t overdue it with the cheese either. The fish in the tacos were NOT deep fried but were grilled and also not overwhelmed in iceberg lettuce and yellow cheese. Quite the opposite. tasted fresh and delicious. They still do not bring chips to the table unless you order guacamole which we also did. It was made fresh and not from a mix. Speaking of mixes however, the margaritas ARE made from a mix. My 2nd margarita however was not as I asked if I could have one made sans mix. They call those«skinny» margaritas and was 100% better. Glad to see that they have not become like so many other mexican restaurants and still have their own style.

Okay, I can see way people posted some bad reviews. Didn’t live up to the hype. We too were excited to eat here because of all ratings. Sad to say, although it wasn’t bad it definitely was not 5 stars. Food was just okay, maybe we were used to better coming from New Mexico. If you want okay Mexican then this is the place.

Don’t understand the hype at all. Same crap you get at any cheap Mexican restaurant. I’ve been here several times over the course of several years trying to see if I’ve missed anything, and I just don’t get it. Certainly have had way better Mexican food around town, for less money.

The pros: 1. Get to pick your own seat. We chose one next to a window. 2. When you sit down they give you a corn tortilla filled with refried beans and Mexican cheese instead of your usual chips and salsa. 3. The salsa is wonderful. 4. After dinner you get one of those awesome chocolate mints. 5. Prices are reasonable. The cons: quesadilla cheese used was extremely greasy. I have grease dripping down my hand. The shrimp wasn’t entirely pealed and I ended up with some tough shell. The service was slow or nonexistent. The house burrito is very bland. They give you a very small amount of salsa and guacamole and you end up running out really quickly. Overall: Still looking for some good Mexican food

This place is one of those hole in the wall places that you search for because you know that no matter what ends up on your plate, it is going to be delicious! It is a little off the beaten path, but well worth finding. The service we received was fantastic. Our waiter came back multiple times to fill our drinks, make sure all our needs were met, and of course to check on the taste of the food. I ended up ordering the carne asada nachos and they filled up the entire plate. Now this plate wasn’t a normal one. It was a gigantic Texas sized plate! Every bite I had was excellent and covered full of the right amount of food. The chips were crispy and never got soggy. One thing I really liked was instead of bringing out your typical chips and salsa, everyone received their own small bean taco as an appetizer. Cute place and great atmosphere. We stayed well past our normal restaurant stay, but we’re very accommodating and wonderful. Would definitely go back!

Saw some haters with poor reviews. Not sure what happened those nights but I’ve never been disappointed. Sometimes service can be slow, but not because they’re not working — only because this place can get busy and crowded. Highly recommend tortilla soup and anything with their MOLE!
