Love their breakfast burritos. Sometimes, it can get a little busy but who cares? I will get their other menu options and I haven’t been disappointed yet.

Yum! This is definitely that good San Diego Mexican food that I have heard all about. Friend of mine from California seconds this! Had the taco salad and the shredded beef, beans, rice, veggies, and cheese was excellent! Décor was a little sparse but the place was really busy and you could tell it was a mainstay for a lot of people in Gresham. Great prices also! Definitely a place I would go to again when I am in Gresham.

My SO and I decided to try this place after one of our friends recommended it saying that it was inexpensive, yet definitely worth the price. After ordering the Carne Asada burrito and my SO ordering the Shredded Beef burrito for only $ 8 total, we definitely agree with our friend. The time for us to get our order was quick and neither of us could finish our burritos; we were happily full. The only complaint that I have is that many of the tables were unclean with sauce puddles and numerous crumbs, but I would still come back and try this place again.

I wasn’t expecting a five-star restaurant by any means when I came to Chuys. But I’m here to tell you that as my first experience which seems like a pretty average experience from what I saw this place is actually a pretty solid four star dine in or take out place. Chuys is very family oriented as you can tell by all the babysitting going on, probably most people that work there are related. I will be back. I’ve tried many things on the menu and would like to try more. I’ve been to the other Mexican places in Gresham and believe me this place is worth a try in comparison to a lot of the«Mexican» restaurants in town.

When my family gets a chance to eat dinner out, this is always one of the top picks! Pollo Asado Nachos are the best ever here. The food is delicious every time and the team that works there is kind and hard working! Suggest this place to everyone I know.

Good food for great prices. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered from them so far. Their avocado sauce is amazing.

I’ve tried this place twice and I’m not impressed. First off, the customer service isn’t great… I don’t really appreciate the cashier yelling my order over her shoulder to the kitchen… Or hearing her yell every order as I’m trying to enjoy my meal. The tables and floor were dirty both times. Their hot sauce bottles are not labeled well. The first time I tried the fish tacos meal and a potato taco. The fish was over breaded and not much flavor. The potato taco was so bland, I could only suffer a few bites. The beans and rice were also bland. The second time I tried a chile relleno and enchilada meal. The chile relleno was small and was poorly put together. The chicken in the enchilada was ok, but the enchilada sauce was just water and grease. Again, bland beans and rice. The beans are so light, they resemble a gray lard paste with cheese on top of it. I’m never coming back.

Serious good eats and love here. Before we moved out of town, I think we were here a couple times a week — now were down to a couple times a month. My favorite is the chili rellenos.

Thee best chimichanga I’ve had outside of Cali! Very delicious enchiladas and tamales too, but I’m obsessed with the big ol’ chimi. Staff are all very friendly and it feels more like you’re visiting family than a restaurant. Very reasonable prices for some damn good eats. Try the #20 man, you’ll devour it guaranteed.

Stopped in to grab some lunch to go today. Ordered the Carne asada fires and two carnita tacos. Sooooo goood!!! I didn’t realize how huge the fries would be, easily can split between 2 – 3 people. The tacos were also very good and flavorful. Didn’t have to wait long and have plenty left overs for later. Definitely will be coming back!!!

I’m a born and raised San Deigan so I love my Mexican/little Mexican shops. This one definitely reminds me of home. Same quick, tasty, spicy goodness.

2.00 fish or shrimp tacos? They are packed full of veggies like sautéed onions and lettuce and their yummy sauce. They have one of those small salsa bars with about 5 different salsa choices as well as those hot carrots and onions too. They taste fresh and delicious! Employers are very organized at the counter and holler your name loud enough for you to hear when your food is ready. Can’t beat this place. Only thing they do not have is cerveza.

For those of you unaware, this is the most legit«San Diego style» taco shop in the Greater Portland metro area(probably because that’s where the family is from, haha). I have 3 kids myself, and they’re always brimming with excitement if I mention the idea of going here for dinner. The absolute best carnitas I’ve ever had without going to a much higher end restaurant(and honestly about as good as some of the best I’ve had at higher those end restaurants) The most authentic Southern California style burritos where places like«Muchos Gracias» and«Don Pedro» fall so very short and fail miserably in comparison to Chuy’s. I saw a couple misleading reviews here that were absolutely false, and these people are clearly naïve to authentic Southern California style Mexican food, and don’t know what they’re talking about(but hey, this is like 2 reviews out of 30+ more that are all positive) Contrary to one of those reviews, the sauces are anything but bland, and are some of the most flavorful and unique you’ll ever try. Their hottest traditional red sauce is there«roasted», and as the name implies it has a roasty delicious and complex flavor, rather than just land spiciness just for the sake of being hot. And their habanero which is orange in color is absolutely unique and delicious. Chuy uses fresh cloves of garlic through a garlic press(& I shouldn’t say anymore than that(if maybe I shouldn’t have even said that already to give away trade secrets). Fantastic value and maximum bang for the buck, amazingly delicious food, and some of the nicest people running the place of any restaurants around, so you’ll feel right at home. As a native San Diegan, this is my little home away from home. And lastly I’ll just simply say as a tool to everyone in the Portland area I tell about this place, the best taco shop in Portland is actually in Gresham ;)

I legitimately eat here 2 – 3 times every week. My SO and I get 2 burritos and 4 potato tacos for $ 12 and we go into taco comas every time. The service is ooooookay, but the rewards card kinda makes up for it(make sure to ask for one! They won’t give you one otherwise) Personally, I like the breakfast burritos at Rico Taco more, but the $ 1 potato tacos make this place worth the trip!

Not sure what the hype is about, maybe try other items on the menu? Just had number 20 beef, the shredded beef was really cold and soggy so I did not want to risk myself getting food poisoning, or maybe a different cook on different shift makes a difference? Beginning to wonder about the ratings people give on Unilocal,I see the high score and come in expecting good quality food, I’ve never had a chimichanga with soggy wet cold meat inside and I’ve been eating it for 40 years, or mine was a fluke? Not coming to this place again, I value my life too much to test myself trying to eat bad food, it’s my first impression

Found this place on my way home from ski bowl. Too bad they are all the way out in Gresham but if I’m even remotely close I’ll stop in for a burrito. Good burritos, nice enough folks and the people coming in were psyched about the food. Nothin fancy but everything you want and need in a Mexican food spot.

I have heard good things about Chuy’s Taco Shop for some time, so today after getting snow tires put on by the friendly folks at America’s Tire, I stopped in to grab lunch. There is nothing fancy about this place, but that is fine by me. a place doesn’t have to be fancy to be great. The menu has a dozen or so different types of burritos, all $ 4. All the taco varieties, about the same number, are $ 2. They have a wide variety of other Mexican dishes, like Tortas, etc on the menu. Regarding the burritos, my eyes nearly fell out of my head, as I started thinking«They must be tiny to be so cheap.» Wrong, Joe. I ordered the Carne Asada burrito, which is a really good size, and two tacos; the Pollo Asada and Carnitas taco. The burrito wasn’t the largest I’ve had(I’m thinking of Olé’ Olé’ Olé’s on Burnside), but it certainly wasn’t small. The burrito was delicious, wrapped in a nice toasted flour tortilla. The ingredients were all fresh, the steak was cooked perfectly and together, it danced the merengue in my mouth. While the burrito and the pollo asada taco were fantastic, the Carnitas taco was, perhaps, the best carnitas I’ve EVERHAD. It was delicious. It was also $ 2. Did I mention that? Both tacos came in a corn tortilla, and included fresh onions, cilantro and other fixings. For, like, $ 8(math has never been my strength) I had a lunch that was cheaper and better than any food cart burrito, or even Baja Fresh. Same with the tacos. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I had a bit of a wait for my order, a little longer considering how few people were there. but do not let that dissuade you. Any wait is worth it. Why go to the nearby Burger King to pay more for lessor food(and service, in my opinion). Chuy’s is also superior to the nearby Baja Fresh, that now will no longer get as much of my business, if any.

I have been wanting to try Chuy’s, and after reading rave Unilocalers reviews I was compelled. Huge menu with combo plates, burritos, tacos, taquetos, Enchiladas, quesadillas, tostadas, tortas, sopes, chimichangas, breakfast burritos and plates, etc. Ala cart these items range from $ 2.00 to $ 4.00!(not a misprint) Excellent salsa bar with home made habanero hot, roasted pepper hot, medium, mild(green), and avocado sauce with tiny bits of jalapeño. Also at the salsa bar there is the pickled carrots, onion, jalapeño appetizers plus raw radish and cucumber. All gratis I had the carnitas plate. It was a little different than I was used to, but still good. Typically the pork is cut into cubes or shreds, then fried in lard. Here it was shreds, flattened and grilled. You get a generous portion of meat, 4 warm and soft flour or corn tortillas, pico de gallo, lettuce, guacamole, refried beans(pinto or black) and rice. The beans are excellent.(of course they are, they’re cooked with lard). Traditional and tasty yes, healthy no. It was $ 6.70 I washed it down with a Mexican Coke(cane sugar, not high fructose corn syrup). They also have horchata, pineapple, and other fruit drinks that go well with Mexican food. The only very small con is that the food cools faster on the Styrofoam plates than it would on oven heated, but that keeps Chuy from charging you a couple more bucks a plate. Overall a very friendly family ran, clean, inexpensive gem of a restaurant. Do yourself a favor and try Chuy’s. It will be your new destination in the Gresham area for very good Mexican food.

Great family owned restaurant. Try the breakfast and other burritos. Their fries are also great. I have been here several times and the kids also love it. Prices are very reasonable. And they open until 12am!!! Their breakfast burrito is to die for. It is a huge burrito with all of the fixings. They have great salsa too. We eat here several times per month.
