Hard workers and good mariscos The man who was helping out wait tables and seat everybody on Valentine’s Day was a hard worker and so were the ladies! We’ll be back.

Hood the few times we’ve been here but we always get the sane thing lol. Pretty good customer service. Food is authentic. Flavors are good. Free appetizers are good. Yummy chips. And soup.

I didn’t know it was possible to sell Mexican food this boring in a largely Hispanic neighborhood. Even the beans and rice were soporific. The outliers were my entrée, which was decent, and the starter soup, which tasted … a lot like how wet hay bales smell, if that makes sense … only it had less flavor than I imagine that would. From the blaring music, I’m guessing this place is mostly a bar. I’d go back to drink. I’m not sure I’d go back to eat.

First time visit — it’s was great food. We ordered Taliban — seafood shrimp soup, and enchiladas. Both dishes were great and we’ll be back. Service was great!

Worst service ever! Very rude waitresses, when they took out chips and salsa the waitress didn’t even said hello and after getting our food no one went back to check on our table. Very bad ceviche, more veggies than fish, on the campechana there was only one oyster when on the menu says it comes with oysters, they should specifically say it’s only one oyster, and paying $ 21 for a bowl of cucumber, tomato, and onions I don’t think so, plus not even good flavor on the juice. Micheladas the worst I have ever had, i couldn’t even taste the beer, very crowded tables, bathrooms very dirty and bad smell. This was our first and last time here. Very bad experience, on food, service, and atmosphere. We do not recommend this place to anyone, much better places to eat than here.

My husband and I had been looking around for some outstanding Mexican food after one of our favorite restaurants closed, when we stumbled across Mariscos el Malecon. When we saw that the place was absolutely packed with latinos, and we saw the Mariachi musicians, we knew we had to try it. We have yet to be disappointed. The food has been consistently top notch and we have yet to find an item we don’t like. Their specialty is seafood and they have an amazing variety to choose from. I tend to like smaller meals, so when I saw they had Sope’s on their menu(I hadn’t had one since I visited Mexico City) I had to try them – and they were amazing! A Sope is similar to a tostada, but the shell is a thicker crisp corn-meal that almost looks like a waffle. The shell was flavorful and crispy, the steak was perfectly flavored and the Mexican queso outstanding! I will definitely order those again. We took our adult daughter there for her 24th birthday, and she declared it is her new favorite Mexican restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and the staff is very friendly. On that particular occasion, we went early and the mariachi’s were not there. However, they did have a gentleman announce her birthday and they played 2 birthday songs on their big screen video player. Of course, that was topped off with a delicious flan presented to her complete with birthday candle! Additionally, a sweet older man made sure to hold the door open for us, both coming and going. This restaurant is not fancy, but the food is delicious and the people are friendly. Love this place and we will definitely be back!

This place has really good food every person I show this place to loves it! I like how they have restaurant style food and taco truck style food. My favorite thing to get is the Chile Relleno.

This Mexican restaurant is great they also specialize in sea food.(squid, octopus, shrimp, oyster shooters, ceviche) I went here for my boyfriends birthday and mine and a bunch of family and friends and the food was great the staff where great to help accommodate us considering there was over 15 of us that night and we took up most of there space. We got a free birthday shot for the both of us the sea food was great i had my 1st raw oyster and it was not bad at all lol its good with lime/lemon juice and a splash of Valentina hot sauce and a cold beer to go down. You just have to get past the seaweed taste after lol. I recommend this place for those who enjoy Mexican food and really love sea food and are adventurous enough to try both in a spicy manor. Hope this was helpful.

Waitress was sweet she gets a star as far as the food goes yuck is all I can say first if they were totally disorganized had to wait about 30 mins for a menu once we got it they got our drinks wrong and as if that wasn’t bad enough they brung us someone else’s food… Once we received the correct order we were extremely disappointed it was cold and just plain out bad most definitely will not return really had high hopes for this place it looks nice on the outside the inside is clean the waitresses are nice minus the fact that they don’t really speak English but non of that matters if there good and drinks are bad

In Portland for a couple weeks visiting with family and decided to try this recently opened place near my sisters. We drove up and the parking lot was full which is a good sign on a Sunday night at 7:30 pm. We were greeted by a full Mariachi band and a restaurant full of people. We stopped here and we were getting food for takeout but there wasn’t a hostess station or carry out area to order so we waited for one of the waitresses to take our two orders. They seemed confused operating the POS and we stood near the front door waiting and waiting and waiting! It took 30 minutes for tacos and fajitas which seemed long. Once home our food experience was rather disappointing. The chips were greasy and salsa just average. I had shrimp and chicken fajitas and asked for no green peppers and double onion — I received my dinner which included green peppers, red peppers, and mushrooms which I have never had in fajitas. The shrimp had the tail shell on and the chicken was diced into such small pieces that I could not identify any chicken which the pieces were smaller than the mushroom slices. The guacamole was not freshly made and had a bright almost fake looking green color. The corn tortillas were cold and had not been warmed on the grill so the tacos were disappointing as well. The chicken burrito used the very small diced chicken as well. My final experience was the horchata which I ordered to drink while we were waiting. After taking my first sip, I realized it was not fresh and came from a drink station similar to how soda is served. The box underneath exposed that the horchata came from a water and syrup mixture — just one big disappointing experience. We had better food off one of the food trucks at Cartlandia. I am originally from Chicago and am an avid Mexican food eater so I have high expectations for Hispanic food! Will try another local place to enjoy the great food here.

This was a terrible experience. First of all, I think they opened before they were ready because they didn’t even have enough menus for each patron. The waitress was a little sweetheart and very apologetic about everything, all through the meal. The mariachi band was like nothing we’ve ever experienced, they were so loud, 3 different parents took their small children outside! Seriously, it was so loud it was hilarious. The bar was not open yet so they had the band stand in there and it was STILL loud! LOL! The food was very disappointing, it was really awful. We won’t be back.

In a town full of latino locals with so many mexican restaurants all around you’d think one more would just blend. Not this one! I was so «giddy» to see this place pop up and in the heart of it all. One new, clean and big mexican restaurant shining. I thought I heard angels singing when I entered into the place. That was mariachi music. ok nothing like angels but still. The restaurant is full of energy and happy people dancing to your tables happy to be waiting on you. OK not like that but. I have to tell you this spot had a super old chinese restaurant in here for years. It was dark, dingy and you wondered what it really was. I had not stepped into this location in 15 years? Now it’s just like a breath of fresh air. The menu is packed with so many different choices and since this is a marisco place it is loaded with fish and seafood options!!! They also managed to get their liquor license pronto!!! Now for the food part since ya I know you’ve been waiting. I just had to «indulge» on some background. Speaking of indulging though I ordered the Camerons Diablo. and yes, the devil was in the sauce. I asked for it spicy and they took me seriously! Yes! Oh and no melted cheese on anything! Yes again. just the nice white cojito cheese dusted over my creamy and flavorful beans. Even their rice had a little bit of onion, green pepper. We got a side of chile rellano to see what type they make. It’s breaded on the outside for those of you that like that. When you cut into it the cheese drips out. perfectly cooked. I had a margarita. Strong but not my favorite because it’s just from a mix but that’s to be expected and pretty normal in this type of establishment. I had also asked for some hotter salsa before even tasting their original salsa they brought to the table with chips that were warm and homemade. They made us a special salsa that was so creamy and spicy. I still regret that I did not ask to take it home. Next time. In all seriousness, I think this restaurant will round out this particular area a bit more and make it their own.
