If I could give this restaurant more than five stars I absolutely would. I am from New England and never in my life have I had a meal quite as delicious as the Beef Connection. The owner is a hard working man who has taken the time to perfect his recipes and will tell you all about how he did so. I started off with the fried calamari with their delicious butter sauce the continued on with their spinach au gratin. Then I got a beautiful small filet. It could have been cooked any better. This little run down place is not to be missed!

Driving up and down Lafayette St., I have passed the empty lot several times wondering when the restaurant would be open. Finally craving a great steak, I called, and it was open for lunch. We were the only guests in the restaurant, but it was still set and ready for a full house. It turns out that their busiest time is between 11:30a-1p. The menu was what I expected, a wonderful assortment of steak offerings. We started our meal with overstuffed crab-stuffed mushrooms. The dressing was well-seasoned. Being a crab-lover, it could have used a bit more crab though. The mushrooms were piping hot and big enough for a party of four to share and be satisfied. We both ordered the 16oz T-bone. Although we each had two different temps, you couldn’t tell by looking at them. Served sizzling hot on a plate of butter, we couldn’t wait to dive in. The ends were charred just like we like, and Ms. Mary, the cook, put her proverbial foot in the food. For a side dish, I had a baked potato topped with everything, and my husband had the broccoli casserole. The pairings couldn’t have been more perfect! I think they figured out the right amount of ingredients to put on the potato, because it wasn’t lacking anything. While our visit to this Beef Connection was a last minute decision, it has definitely earned a return visit from us. Enjoy!

Very friendly, family operated restaurant. The steak was AMAZING! Fantastic place. If I lived in the area I would be there quite often!

«mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on Ice she said, we are all just prisoners here, of our own device» I started this one off with an Eagles lyric because this place reminded me of the kind of restaurant that characters from an Eagles song would come and drink wine, disregard their expensive steaks, snort coke off of their watch-tops and paw all over their flaxen-haired, white leather-clad, ice-veined Valkyrie girlfriends. There aren’t very many places that i have been that embody the rise and fall of a specific time and place so fully. It’s all here. The vapidness of the gilded atari age smacks you in the face like a soggy leg warmer the moment you enter the door. If you ask me, they should just go whole hog and turn it into a theme restaurant like Medieval Times. As far as the steak goes, well it was just steak, y’know? I’ll be honest, I don’t know why I come to these places. I can buy a steak at rouse’s and cook it in butter like anybody else and save a hundred or so bucks. It’s really a problem I have with the genre of «steakhouse» and not with the establishments themselves. but there was something about this place that just left me feeling haunted. «they stab it with their steely knives, but they just can’t kill the beast»

While the name may conjure up images of a 70’s gay bar in a movie, this restaurant is serious about their meat. Located at the corner of Belle Chasse Hwy. and Gretna Blvd., the Beef Connection is an old school steakhouse. From what I have been told, this was originally a Ruth’s Chris location many years ago. Another bit of history is that this is the first place I had a proper meal after Katrina. This place is a true New Orleans style steakhouse. Steaks come sizzling in butter and are always cooked perfectly. The ribeye is my favorite, but the fillet is also very good. I am not sure if they use prime beef, but every steak i have had has been tender and wonderfully beefy. For sides, try the potatoes augratin and you wont be disappointed. Service has always been good, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality. Since this is the only real steak joint on the west bank, you are likely to see westbank political royalty while you dine. I don’t know if it is worth a long trip, but if you’re on the westbank, there is no better steakhouse.

I have been going to the Beef Connection since I was 13 years old and it remains to be one of my favorite places for a good meal. I have been as a party of 2 and I have been as a party of 20 and each time, the staff has been absolutely wonderful. As a matter of fact, I went only 2 days ago and it was fantastic! Jennifer C is write about the décor. The little pink building could definitely use a facelift. And it wouldn’t hurt to rip out the outdated flowered wallpaper. But really, this place reminds me of one of those old and established restaurants that are«set in their ways:» so to speak. But who cares about the décor. Let’s talk food!!! The Remoulade Shrimp are delicious, but my absolute favorite appetizer is the BBQ shrimp. TODIEFOR!!! If you love a steak, they have one of the best in the city. I suggest the ribeye, but that’s my own personal preference. And yes, they use real butter, so if that’s a problem for you(not me!), you can always ask for it dry. The absolute best dish on their menu? The LOBSTER! A lobster, boiled and soaked in melted butter. Best. Lobster. EVER. Ask to get it out of the shell for more easy access to the meat. Usually, I share a lobster and a steak with someone else to get my own little surf ‘N’ Turf going. Love this place!
