Ok, alot of this may just be nostalgia but I have alway enjoined this particular restaurant. Maybe it is becuase I have been coming here since I was around 10yrs, I’m 45 yrs now. But I still enjoy it. The Resturant. The food is hot, basic, tasty & what you would expect from an old school Chinese restaurant. The décor is also basic & what you would expect of an old school Chinese restaurant. It is family owned & operated & they staff is always so very polite and freindy. I have lived in Reno for the last 20 yrs but was raised in Gridley and I still have family here so I visit atleast a couple of times a year. My grandmother used to live in the cute litte green house across the street from the resturant before it brunt down in the late 90’s. When I’m in town I always stop in & order the number 6, Love the MarFar. The owner Sue always remembers me & asks about my family. It’s almost a tradition at this point. I’ll keep coming back as the food is good and it reminds me that some things should never change & this little plave will always be a good reminder of home & a great childhood…

Good Chinese food here and it’s the first place I ever had Chinese food as a child. We usually order for Take Out and Family Style dinner for 3. This is the perfect meal for us because it has Mar Far Chicken(my Favorite dish), Pork Fried Rice, Pork Chow Mein, Fried Shrimps, Sweet & Sour Pork, and Egg Foo Yaung.($ 31.50). I really like their gravy for the Egg Foo Yaung! We enjoyed everything tonight!!! I also asked for spicy, which they give Hot Mustard, so delicious, Chili paste, and a Chili oil, which I appreciate the tiny ounce sizes because I’m the only one who wants my food more spicier compared to the rest of my familia. Overall very good dinner tonight especially when you don’t want to go grocery shopping or in the mood to cook. Plus I love seeing the little white/red thank you boxes the food comes in because we’ve been coming here for years and reminds of when I was a kid at home :) I can still smell the same exact smell when my mom would bring us food from King Wah, such a good yummy smell of Chinese take out :) Good memories, Good food, and Good dinner! For a small town, it’s a simple restaurant, simple menu choices, and best part is Family owned for many years! Very friendly customer service and welcoming hospitality from the lady owner, husband does all the cooking! If you come in Tue-Friday, the Lunch combos are super cheap, around $ 6. Closed on Mondays!

Good food! But I suggest taking it to go. I was very disappointed with the other chinese food place in Gridley, so we are glad we found some chinese food with good flavor. And we don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it. I have only tried the chicken chow mien and the sweet & sour chicken. The sweet & sour chicken was typical, but I really liked the pan fried noodles and seasoning in the chicken chow mien. It was very close to the chicken chow mien at Tong Fong Low in Oroville, which is a compliment. The building is really dingy and dirty looking, so I recommend taking food to go :)

Very nice people from Hong Kong own the place. After living in Connecticut for years and tasting the poor excuse for Chinese food there, this place was amazing. My husband and I have been back twice and will continue to return. I agree with the other reviewers that said this place isn’t fancy… but who cares, the food’s amazing. My favorite dish is the San Fran style chow mein.

What can I say, I love this place. A few important things to note. This is not a fancy place nor is it real Chinese food… It just tastes good! The family that owns the place is always polite. Inside is nothing fancy. I grew up eating this food and it has always been consistently good. If you expect real chinese food like that from China town or an upscale Chinese. this is not your place. Again, I give it 4 stars because it is always consistently good. For Gridley that is a big thing, and it has been in Gridley for well over 20 years. That says a lot.

I suspect that they do not use MSG because at least then there’d be some sort of flavor. The food here is bland. The BBQ pork was tinged darker than what I am used to seeing, so perhaps it was a little on the older side. The folks who run the business speak Cantonese, and I overheard a conversation about whether something was fresh or not. What they were referring to, I’m not sure. I only caught bits and pieces from where I was seated. This is Gridley, and there really isn’t much around in terms of options. If I had a say, I would not eat here again. A star for having A/C and a small parking lot. It’s freakin’ hot out.
