I chose this particular Super 8 because it was near the Atlanta Motor Speedway where I was working the Georgia State Fair for a week. I didn’t read any reviews previous because I just needed a bed after traveling all day, then working the fair, and some fellow colleagues were already checked in, so I followed suit. I paid for two nights in cash up front. *I searched the hotel through AAA earlier in the day and it stated that the motel gave a discount to members. Upon check-in, I asked the desk attendant about this, and in as few words as possible she told me to «eff off» more or less and said that she was giving me the best rate she had very flusterdly… which ended up being almost $ 20 more than I had confirmed through AAA. I understand motels/hotels have the final say in pricing, but for her to be so rude about my question instead of giving what I’m sure would’ve been a reasonable explanation is unacceptable. She was obviously exhausted and unhappy with her life, which isn’t something I’d like after having a long day myself. The only positivity came when i mentioned that I may be staying longer… she said she could knock the price down $ 5/night after my initial 2 night payment.(Yay! $ 5) *We weren’t asked whether we wanted a smoking or non-smoking room… not a huge deal, but probably something that most people would be concerned about. *Inside the room there were a number of things that were exceptionally wrong… 1. the heating/cooling system was janky, but seemed to work. It made insane sounds that made it hard to sleep. 2. After washing my face in the sink, it wasn’t draining. Two hours later, it had drained approximately an inch. It took until the next morning for it to be drained completely. 3. The fridge was set on the floor, and the door scraped across the carpet when opened or closed. 4. The microwave was at least ten years old and just hard to use properly. It took three times as long to heat up a can of soup. 5. All of the wall outlets were really loose… which seems like an electrical hazard. I couldn’t get my devices plugged in without pushing the nightstand against the plug to keep it in or something comparable. 6. The television worked, but the sound would cut out periodically. 7. The lock on the door didn’t work properly. *As far as aesthetically, the room was definitely a mixture of late 80s and cheap vomit. The comforters were worn and old, and nothing matched. The mirror was also taken down and just sitting in the floor. *I woke up the morning after and immediately began searching for another hotel for the rest of my stay in the area. But not after I went to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast! Which was cereal that I’m sure had been sitting in the dispenser for over a month, yogurt that was up to over two months old, and a toaster with bread that was a week expired. *When I returned to the room, I noticed a hole in the wall above the desk… I got up and examined it and found that it was indeed a bullet hole. I stuck my pen in it to confirm… Yep. Bullet hole. *I was scheduled to get back out to the fairgrounds for work, so I decided to shower and prepare myself for the evening. I found two unusual bites on my ankles. I hadn’t left the room all day. Not saying its bed bugs… also not saying its not. *Took a shower, and as the water drained, the most god awful smell rose from the drain… *And lastly, I went outside to smoke on the«balcony» and peered over the building… the gutters are falling off all around the perimeter. This place isn’t taken care of… of that I’m sure. I hate that this motel sucks so much, but I’m taking my business elsewhere after I stay here this evening. The rate is much too high for the quality of service provided.

The hotel wasn’t «horrible» it was what you would expect from a budget motel. The check-in experience was awkward to say the least. We walked into the lobby to find some yappy dogs barking and snarling at us. There was a clear contradiction to the large NOPETS sign above their heads. The room wasn’t «awful» it was decent and clean, but sleep was almost impossible with the fiesta that was going on next door all night long. The hotel staff did nothing to shut up the party or their obnoxious«umpa umpa» music. I don’t know if the man next door found«Jose» but he sure was screaming for him all night. I really hope he found his friend. We left at first light and got out of there to find a new hotel, one with a little more peace and quiet and a little less fiesta.

On night of 5÷31÷2012 was my final visit; I’ve tolerated declining service and management is too cheap. 1. Love seat in room 114 had DNA sprayed over the entire back and cushion area. Anyone alive would know what the white spotty areas are that are flaking. 2. Ice machine not working again. 3. Asked for large receipt for business expense at evening check in and none provided at AM; old fellow tried but did not know the system. After four calls back and forth they only wanted to fax receipt to me; to save the 45 cents of postage. This was after I was promised to have receipt mailed. 4. No Orange Juice at the sparsely provided for breakfast area. One table and a rotten watermelon was on the table at check in and still there the next morning. 5. Walls are so thin that late night love making next door is clearly heard. Finally, Forget this motel; it is going in one direction until new owners or a cheaper rated franchise takes over. If Super 8 puts them on probation, they will not survive franchise follow ups.
