This County Park is pretty OK… just wish that it was a little more taken care of. Here’s the skinny: Hiking Fishing Sledding Impatient Workers Here’s the fat: As far as Hiking goes, Oak Ridge Prairie is pretty easy. There is a nice loop around the pond and a few side trails through the woods which are level and flat. If you’re looking for a nice easy hike this is where to go. There are several benches around the pond for fishing and a decent sized pier also. The only thing is that they’re not in too good of a shape. Most of the benches around the pond have a serious need for attention, boards rotting or missing, few nails sticking out… just didn’t seem too inviting. The pier on the other hand was just fine, worn with age but, no risk of tetanus. There is a sledding hill by the main parking lot that looks like it could be fun for families. I don’t have one so… I’m just speculating here… The thing that ruined it for me was the park staff… Talk about impatient and rude. There were a few people there the day I went, a family sledding, an older couple walking around the pond… The Hours are 7:00AM to sunset and just as the sun was setting, dude starts driving his car around honking… screaming«Get out! Parks closed!» OK… cool, we start making our way back, the old couple was still on the other side of the small pond, maybe 10 minutes walking distance away. Within 2 minutes the guy starts honking again… «Hurry up! ain’t got all day!» Maybe I’m spoiled by the other more known and popular hiking spots in the area… Hopefully it’s not like this every time dusk comes around. All in all though, it’s a nice little spot to check out. SYOY
