One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. The chips and food are muy delicioso!

Have been back twice more since my original review and have had a mediocre experience both times. My chimichanga was dry both times and portions of refried beans and rice are downright stingy. Service is hit and miss as there is only one server in the dining room. Did not appreciate the vacuum being run during dinner service. My party’s entrees were disappointing except for the enchilada suizas. My husband ordered the chiles de mar and another the chimichanga de mar. No shrimp were found in either dish and the garlic sauce was disappointing. Although this is conveniently close to my home, I will not be back. Too bad the food quality is so inconsistent.

5STARS!!! Wish I could give them more stars but 5 will have to do. Forget Pepe’s or Taco Bell. For just a little bit more money(in comparison to Taco Bell) or in some cases much less money(in comparison to Pepe’s) Mi Tierra is top notch, quality and authentic Mexican food. Everything is prepared to order, fresh, hot and delicious! My husband and I go there almost every Sunday for our Mexican food fix. The owner/chef is a very personable gent. Upon our very first visit he greeted us and when asked, gave some great menu suggestions. Now we’re regulars. His version of Milinasa is, well, no words can express. I’ve never had Milinasa as different and delicious as his. From burritos and tacos to Carne Asada and Milinasa… Mi Tierra’s is HIGHLY recommend to try. Tucked inside the Griffith Airport, it can be easy to pass by and not notice. But, now you know it’s in the airport so please, stop by and give them a try. They won’t disappoint you. Kudos Mi Tierra… keep up the great work. Signed — Loyal Customer For Life

An undiscovered great place for Mexican food in Griffith! My kids love this place since they can watch the airplanes land and take off before and after dinner. Usually the place isnt too busy and the service is great.

Pleasantly surprised. Tucked inside Griffith Airport it is easy to miss. Food was authentic and tasty. Chile Relleno was very good. Festive, casual atmosphere. Only negative is chips and salsa – chips are greasy and salsa needs to be hotter. But — Definitely will come again.

We like to fly our little airplane to an airport that has an on-field restaurant for summertime dinners. July 2011 we found Mi Tierra at Griffith-Merrillville, IN airport, just south of Gary. I recommend it to everyone in the Chicago area flying community. The food was reasonably priced, but dellicious. Everything is made fresh on-site. The chips and salsa were super. The dessert-of-the-day was a new idea the chef had and it turned out terrific: peach, mango, pineapple, and apple pie in a lovely crust. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and the chef was very personable. He visited our table and, as a former member of the 101st. Airborne Division, a skydiver, etc., he enjoys talking about planes and aviation. The airport has a long runway which is in excellent condition.

Excellent dinner. It is easy to drive right by, but do yourself a favor and stop in. I had the chile rellenos dinner and my husband had chile con carne. Both meals were excellent and reasonably priced. The service was very good and the owner came by the table to make sure we liked our meals. Much more personalized service than you will ever get at the chain places. The restaurant is located in the Griffith Airport. They also serve breakfast. This was our first visit there, but it definately won’t be the last.

I love the food here. delish! Ok so it’s in an airport but don’t let that stop you. It’s easy to drive by but you should stop in. The chips they give you are sooo good. I usually get the flautas which are always cooked perfect. Who would’ve known you can get great Mexican food at the airport!!! A+++++
