Service at Hoy Pan was good although the waiter seems a bit awkward at time but is very nice and attentive. The food is pretty good. Not my favorite Chinese ever but not disappointing. Portions are appropriately sized and priced. They have very good soups, my favorite being the Hot and Sour. The egg rolls are pretty good too. Anytime you’re looking for decent priced Chinese food and don’t want to leave Grosse Ile this place will likely satisfy.

The waiter could not get our drink order correct. I ordered a regular coke and my friend ordered a diet without ice. The first time both drinks were diet with ice. The second time the diet still had ice but the regular did not. We cashed out after that and went elsewhere. Who knows how our food would have been messed up.

This is one of those places that is made better because of the ownership and how they treat their customers. The food is good and we have some favorites but what makes things better is how kind and considerate the owners and staff are. The food starts for us with soup. The wonton and the chicken noodle are outstanding. Both have great broth and great flavor. The noodles and the big chunks of chicken along with the very tasty wontons start the meal out right. Next the egg rolls are always done perfectly and taste like a classic egg roll. Some of our favorite dishes are chicken chop suey, broccoli and chicken, garlic chicken, and the standard sweet and sour chicken. You can’t go wrong with any of them. We really enjoy Hoy Pan and appreciate all of the hard work they do there.

Trying to find another Chinese food restaurant as good as Hoy Pan. Maybe it’s just what I’m used to since I grew up with this as the only chinese restaurant my family went to. I love love the egg drop soup with the crispies, the egg rolls are the best, and I can not find another place that does Almond Chicken like Hoy Pan. I miss it and am sorely disappointed every other time I order chinese food. Oh, and the restaurant is always empty because people typically order out. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good restaurant.

Sunday night December 7th2014 Me and my girlfriend ordered two orders of the General Tso’s chicken with egg rolls and spring rolls. Rotten chicken!!! The rice wasn’t fresh along with the rolls. I was a little leary because of how dead they were. Should have trusted my instinct. If a place of business is going to serve rotten food they should be shut down. The chicken was grey and chewy. The rolls were soggy and look like the were made a week ago. My parents owned a bar and grill for 2 years and knowing what I have seen there you can tell what is good and what is bad very easily. This place chooses to serve nasty old food. Don’t bother going here. Needs to have there safe serve license pulled!!!

Excellent take out or dine in! All I can say is «Spicy Pepper Chicken»…no lettuce extra spicy! Personal preferance aside, its a good food experiance. Slightly outdated interior from the days of the youth club it once was but all around good.

I do have to say there is something delicious about their egg rolls. I had the Moo Shu beef and was pleasantly surprised.

Got sick from this place and will never go back. Called to complain and they were not apologetic and seemed to care less.

I’ve been trying to find Chinese food like this since I moved away from Grosse Ile in 2002. I’ve lived in four states and five cities since then, including LA, and nothing like it. Especially the egg rolls and won ton soup. It’s just superior. We used to cut class in high school to buy egg rolls for lunch here. I recommend doing that if you go to GIHS.

I stumbled upon this restaurant just driving around Grosse Ile and I’m glad I did because I love it. Best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Everything that I’ve ever ordered was good, never had a bad meal. I live in Ecorse and I don’t mind the 8 mile drive to get there because it’s just that good. The garlic chicken stir fry is usually what I get and it is by far the best I’ve ever had. I get full at the restaurant and I still have enough to get full off of when I take the leftovers home. They also have excellent service!

TRYTHEMOOSHUBEEF! Always friendly service and excellent food. The sweet and sour chicken is also delicious, and the servings are huge on almost everything you order here!

Good food, pleasant ambiance, fast service, generous portions. For Chinese food, I wouldn’t go anywhere else in the Downriver area. Great prices, extensive menu.
