My husband got some take out for us here when I was sick one day and I wasn’t that impressed. Maybe we will have to try again and see if eating in will improve our opinion.

We have been coming to Jumps for many years. It has always been our favorite place to eat an unpretentious dinner. However, it seem that the menu is starting to get rather boring. The menu has not changed in many years. It is uninspiring. Tired. It’s like Chet is losing his creative drive. Ever since Jumps moved upstairs menu pricing also increased. The portion sizes have decreased as well. My wife asked for a few extra pine nuts on her salad and was charged $ 2.50 for 6 more pine nuts. Even Jumps famous soups have declined in quantity and offerings. Service is still great but given the price it is difficult to justify eating there more often then on special occasions and even then we need to think about it. We have now turned our attention to eateries out near Somerset. I hope Chet reactivates his culinary talents and gives his restaurant a Jump start.

This is a great spot for many reasons. The food is exceptional and the chefs are very accommodating for those of us with food allergies. The service is exceptional, friendly and always attentive. I frequent there often! Yum!

Awful, awful service. We went for Sunday brunch and the place was full, but we were the only ones waiting for a table, so it’s not like they were super slammed. We waited in the hall for 15 minutes and finally had to go in the restaurant, and lo and behold a table was ready for us. I think we’d still be waiting if we stayed in the hall. The service started out ok, but after placing our order we didn’t see our server again for 30 minutes. We have 2 little kids and it’s a miracle that they didn’t have a complete meltdown. For 30 minutes we sat there and he didn’t stop by once. My husband’s Bloody Mary was empty for at least 15 minutes and my coffee was cold and basically empty, not so much as a warmup. He finally came and brought the kids their food, we didn’t get an apology or an explanation on why we sat there for so long with no service. In fact he still didn’t refill my coffee, I had to ask and he never asked my husband if he wanted a refill. We are not high maintenance and I get annoyed when servers are constantly pestering us, but this was an extremely long wait and an apology would have gone a long way. After we asked for the bill it was close to 10 minutes before he ran our card. The food was good, but not great. There’s better places to get brunch in GP, and after such poor service we won’t be back.

I’ve eaten here many times. Delish! Easter Brunch is to die for. Jumps is a great place for a dinner date. Amazing chefs and owners that really care about what’s going on the plate.

Always enjoy Jumps. Breakfast specials are exquisite and dinners are dependably among the best. This is my local go to place and I am never disappointed.

My boyfriend and I have driven by this place many times and decided to try it yesterday. They bring hot bread to the table when you arrive which I always like :) For dinner I was in the mood for a salad and my boyfriend wanted something heavier. I got the Tuscan Kale salad and it was tasty; it was fresh and had a great ginger based dressing. My boyfriend got the veal scallopini and it was good but the portion was very small. For a $ 30 entrée he expected to get more food! I usually help myself to samples of his dinner but I felt guilty this time because he had so little on his plate! Overall, good food but overpriced for what you get. I’ve heard that lunch is a different experience, though, so maybe we will try that.

Very solid neighborhood eatery. Everything is always very fresh. Never really been dissatisfied with anything on the menu. It’s simple fare, but it’s all done very well. I’m a big fan of the scallop salad, and their sandwiches are all very solid. Given the death of good dining in Grosse Pointe, I really wish that there were more restaurants like Jumps. It’s priced affordably(under $ 15). Ambience and food are hip enough to attract a younger crowd while still remaining quiet enough for the senior crowd.

I was highly disappointed. The atmosphere was strange… no one was in the restaurant and the staff stood around gossiping. The food was awful, and the bar was non existent meaning no bartender and limited top shelf liquor, my fiancé and I were highly disappointed. The staff were staring like they couldn’t wait for us to leave. We’ll never be back… over priced crap.

We usually eat at Jumps once a week and the food is consistently excellent. The service is sometimes a bit slow however this is not a fast food restaurant so I guess I don’t expect to be rushed. Personal favorites include the crab cake appetizer, the seared salmon, Coq Au Vin, Porcini Dusted Beef Tenderloin, Pecan Crusted Whitefish and unexpectedly one of the best cheeseburgers in town! If you are hungry the angel hair pasta with Lobster and Scallops is delicious. My wife and I usually will eat here with our children and then head over to the elementary school next door to let the children play on the playground-as a result this has become our children’s favorite restaurant!

I’m shocked to see any marginal reviews posted. The atmosphere is traditional not trendy, just like the town. Jumps has the best food in Grosse Pointe. The chef is amazing and he usually comes out to personally inquire about the meal. It’s impossible to make a bad choice, everything is prepared fresh and is always delicious. If you’re not in the mood to count calories, get the lobster pasta… it’s heaven on a plate.

I think unless you’re from Grosse Pointe, you won’t enjoy this restaurant. The service is extremely bad, the food is mediocre at best, and they don’t take criticism well either. It’s actually comical to me how bad this place is(and how well it personifies Grosse Pointe in general). We came here with a friend who lives in Grosse Pointe, and absolutely adores this restaurant. While most of my experiences in this parochial little town has been unpleasant, I assumed that coming here with a local would mean better service. Nope, we were wrong. We had the special that night, a walleye with chestnut stuffing and butternut squash purée — sounds delicious right? The fish was half raw in certain parts(and don’t get me wrong, I love raw sushi and eat it at least 2X a week) but this had the worst sickening texture of sliminess when you bite in. The fish was also painfully bland, and we poured on the salt and pepper to try and mask the odd flavor of fishiness that kept coming through. The stuffing was just bread… not really chestnut, and the purée was a smear for decorative purposes. I also had the baked alaska for dessert — nothing special, just ice cream that’s been really frozen with some marshmallow on top. The funny part came when our friend felt he should provide well intentioned feedback to the owner, giving many of the points I mentioned above. The owner’s response was: well everyone else liked it just fine, I’ll tell the chef, and abruptly walked away. What? Where I come from(the rest of us lowly class citizens of metro Detroit, who lack the sophistication of Grosse Pointe), when a regular customer(or any customer) dislikes the food, you offer free dessert, or apologize for the experience or offer to discount the bill or SOMETHING. You never argue with the customer and walk away rudely. I’m told that their salmon is great, so maybe if you want to take a chance on bad treatment and potentially bad food… it could be worth a shot.

Horrible !!! Horrible Service!!! Very RUDE owner… Waited for 20mins to be seated. But unless you Know the owner you get seated right away. Stood there watching the owner seat all of her friends that came in behind us. Will never go back again…

Very bad service. The owner works the floor and unless you’re a personal friend of her’s expect to wait until all her friends are seated and served before you’re even noticed. She has her hostess trained to lie for her when you ask why others are are being seated and served ahead of you. Food is fair, and the menu is very limited, presentation is poor and the staff are rude. Definitely over rated.

Visited for lunch about a month ago on my 21st birthday — our server was very sweet! I wish I could remember her name. Our drinks were just okay… I had a pretty lack luster Bloody Mary that was garnished by one sad & lonely wilted piece of celery. No pickle or olives? Kind of a bummer, especially when I was so excited for my first **legal** cocktail. My boyfriend’s mimosas were fine, but just fine — too much OJ for what I remember was an 8 or 9 dollar beverage. Being vegetarian can get tricky at some places — not very many restaurants in Michigan cater to both meat eaters AND vegaholics, so I was pleasantly surprised to see an ‘avocado edamame kale salad’ listed on the menu. It was supposed to come with seared pork atop the greens, but I asked my server if I could opt for an extra half avocado instead of the meat — a much less expensive substitution, so they should’ve been happy to do it. My server returned from checking with the kitchen and assured me that this was fine, but when my meal was served, it was clear I received no extra avo — not even a half extra. The salad was pretty small sans meat and surely could’ve used a bit more substance, so I was pretty disappointed they didn’t take that into consideration. I could kind of tell when our waitress delivered my salad that she, too, knew that there wasn’t any extra avocado atop my salad… But I’m a server myself, and I hate to be a pain when I can tell that my server is busy, which she was, so I just tried to be grateful for what I had and enjoy the company I was with. For what I paid for what I ate, I was a little bummed. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not CRAZY overpriced, and the actual quality of the food is nice, but I wish they would’ve given this Birthday Girl the tiny bit of extra care I had requested to make my birthday lunch special.

I don’t get it. What is this place going for. It’s a mix of hotel diner, wine restaurant. Just pick an identity PS. Don’t leave you generic brand ingredients in the open where the patrons can see the label.

My first time at Jumps was during the breakfast hours. I’m young, 22, and came alone to eat. As a server myself, my first reaction to a one person customer who is young would be to complain and expect a low tip. I was very pleased to have my waitress greet me with a great attitude. She was very friendly and was quick with my coffee and refills. She read the specials with profession memory and sold me on the quiche of the day. It was presented beautifully with a good portion slice and a colorful arrangement of fresh fruit. My meal and service was a 10⁄10. Being in the restaurant business myself, I have high expectations of my service whenever I go out. I decided to make that my new go to spot as I like trying new dishes. So I came here a few days later a little after 11 to find out I missed the breakfast so I was forced to try a lunch item. Then my experience started to go downhill… My waitress(not the same one as my last visit) came up to me without a hello. Immediately asked what I wanted to drink. When I asked about the specials, she handed me a Special list. I think it is more professional to memorize but it was okay. I started with a bowl of chicken chili. Good but too many white beans. I still didn’t make up my mind for lunch so I asked for more time. Once I decided on the Chicken Alfredo, I closed my menu and made it obvious I was ready to order. I observed my waitress as she had 2 other tables and me. It took her 11 minutes to come back to me to take my order. Meanwhile my diet coke and water were just ice cubes in glasses and I was thirsty. I have an issue with empty glasses and having to ask for a refill. My pasta came and it looked amazing. My waitress asked me if I cared for fresh pepper, I said yes please but the odd thing is she didn’t bring it with her. Usually you bring the grinder with you but whatever. She also asked if I cared for a piece of bread. I said no thank you. Within a minute or less she comes back with a piece of bread on a plate then says to herself, «oh yeah pepper». I have made mistakes myself with my own tables but this was pretty pathetic. In no way do I mean offense to this but some servers who are aged should not be working still. The food was delicious and despite the service, I will still be coming back. I’ll just make sure I have a different server. 4 stars for excellent food

I went here for lunch today. Our waitress was horrible. She seemed more concerned with having long-winded conversations with one of the many patrons over 60 years old, than she did waiting on myself and my fellow lunchmate. I’m not exactly young(I’m 35), but she had no interest in taking care of my table. It took forever to get straws for our drinks, our food took exceptionally long, and the bill didn’t come fast. My friend was in somewhat of a hurry(she had an hour for lunch, and we were still late getting back!), and the service was putrid — she was short and abrupt with us throughout the entire service. The food: I ordered the«petite tenderloin sandwich,» which wasn’t bad, but the meat was actually tough. Parts seemed dry and over cooked, parts seemed rare(which is fine with me), but the whole thing was tough to bite through. On several occasions I had to try to hold the meat so I could pull away and try to chew through the sandwich at the same time. The horseradish sauce was spicy, but amazing. It actually burned my nose a bit on one occasion, but I like it that way. Overall I’d say the sandwich was good, but it would have been great if the meat was better. The bread and toppings were good. She had the burger, which was just mediocre. She said she felt it «needed something,» it was a little dry and a little bland. She generally doesn’t put anything on a burger when it’s made well, but had to douse this one with ketchup. Not something you want out of a $ 10 burger. We both had the redskin potatoes for our side, which were good, but the presentation was horrible. They looked more like coney island hash browns. The ambiance: The worst part of the experience is the atmosphere. It looks more like an average diner than a fine dining establishment. I love the sign, its contemporary nature, etc., but the inside looks more like a big boys than something that fits the sign. I expected cool designed booths and chairs, something modern, fun, contemporary, but I was let down big time on the appearance of the inside of the place.

Very solid weekend brunch spot in Grosse Pointe — which isn’t to say that there’s a bunch of brunch spots(Pancake House, anyone?), but is more to say — that for an adult experience, with very decent food and friendly service, this place works great. From young kids to grandparents, everyone found something to eat. Parking is in the lot behind the building and on the weekend, has no charge on the weekend. Hours on the weekend are like 9 – 2 pm… And the menu is all brunch/eggs — no main and regular/tasty menu as they serve during weekday lunch…

My favorite«fine dining» spot in the Detroit area. Although they don’t really have any vegan options on the menu, if you warn them when you make a reservation, they are very accommodating and have assembled many wonderful«chef’s selection» meals for us. Service, atmosphere, and drink selections are great.
